Great! Thanks so much for the tips - I told my husband that my MFP ladies were all over our itinerary...he laughed but he's game for fudge and bike riding

This morning I went for a run on a new route and managed 5 miles, but it was hot and I had to keep taking 1/4 mile speed walk breaks. I was 4 miles in and thinking of Nikki putting in 9 miles and seriously wondering...HOW??? I understand the theory that I'll keep getting better, but sometimes it feels like it may never…

Hey, fellow Canadian here! I'm always happy to lend support or help with motivation and I appreciate friends who do the same!

I've been doing the C25K and the 30DS together too. I run 3-4 days per week (I'm up to 5k two or three times per week and a longer run on the weekend). I haven't been doing the 30DS every day, though you could, as on quite a few days I run early in the morning and do the 30DS when I get home from work. I make sure I have…

Nikkit321 - congratulations on finishing the 20 minute run!!! I know what it's like to dread the long runs, but keep in mind they are just goals - you don't have to meet them exactly or on any specific day. I've heard that some runners (who run marathons) prefer to run in 10 or 15 minute blocks, and have a minute of…

Jen - I love the dress you're wearing in your new profile picture - very pretty! I'm glad the 30DS is going better now that you've given your ankle a bit of a break. I'm almost finished level 1 (I'm not doing consecutive days - more like 3 or 4x a week) and I've noticed that it's getting easier. Butt kicking is good and…

April - Your photos have been great. I love the different editing techniques you're using - they give some neat effects. I'm sorry to hear your back is out. I hope you feel better soon! Christine - I miss you! I hope work is going well, and you better not be eating yummy things and not telling us about it  How is…

Also, I used to have some shin and knee issues, but I started making sure I really stretched well after stretching, especially my IT band (down the side of my hip). If my IT band gets tight it pulls on my knee. But since I've started really stretching everything well (like 10 minutes of stretching after a run), I haven't…

BJ - congratulations on your big loss earlier this week. You've hit a huge milestone! Yay for getting a new pram! If you're already doing 7 miles with the wonky wheel imagine how you're going to do with the new one  Have a wonderful time at the wedding tomorrow! Nikki - I hope you had a blast with your friends! It's…

Today I did W6D3 and ran for 25 continuous minutes! I wasn't sure I'd be able to do it, but I managed to run it right to the end. I'm pretty pumped about it! C25K works!

April - beautiful photos and I LOVE the one of the horse (he's just so pretty!) and the light is just perfect. Cazz - I hope your workout was awesome and I'm glad the scattering of the ashes went well, even if it was a somber occasion. It sounds like your kids are managing well and leaning on you and each other, which is…

That is an amazing story and very inspirational! Keep up the awesome work and enjoy maintenance!

LOL @ Nikki's comment about Ryan Reynolds...ah, he's just a hottie! So I officially overdid it for the first time on my run today. I really wanted to get in a run after work, and I didn't want to wait until later in the evening (possible thunderstorm, it would get in the way of dinner, etc) so I went out at 5:30 not…

I have similar stats to you (5' 4") and 149 lbs and I burn 220 calories doing the 30DS. I was disappointed with that the first time, but then I realized it was really only 20 minutes of working out -- but it does get my heart rate up! If you wanted a higher calorie burn you could repeat one (or more) segments. I am doing…

Christine - you KNOW you're one of the Fabulously Fabulous People in LA! You're pink and shiny - the best kind of fabulous  I totally caved and bought some stuff on Oldnavy.ca after reading about your finds - all 25% off and totally returnable if it doesn't work! I found a pretty pink cowl neck tank that I had to…

Linda - I liked your happies the other day - especially the one about the patient requesting you. I think it's great that your patients are so comfortable in your care that they look for you for a repeat experience. As a teacher, I want my students to want to take my other classes, but I never thought of it for nursing -…

Nikkit321 - You can totally do it - just remind yourself that you are much stronger than you think you are, and when you're tired it's all mental. If you're doing W5D1 & D2, you're physically able, and you'll jump the mental hurdle. I'm glad I'm inspiring someone - lots of people have been inspiring me. I'll be cheering…

I just got back from a morning run and I jogged for 20 minutes!!! I was nervous about the time, but I totally did it. I took a 40 second walk in the middle to cross the road and drink some water, but otherwise I managed to run the whole thing. I'm on a total high right now and it's great. My new water bottle belt worked…

Hi Linda - it's so great that you reconnected with your step sister! I always figure that a happy nurse is way better than an unhappy one, tired or not  This morning I was looking at blogs and I saw the quote below. It resonated with me, as I've known a number of people who fit the definition of "interested" in…

It's really funny that you say that because I got one of those belts too! I just wanted a basic belt for my water bottle, but the silly thing kept falling out (3 times in 4 minutes) and I ended up carrying it. So I took it back and got a belt with two smaller bottles. I'm going to try it out on my next run. I hope it's…

Hi bjshooter - I didn't know you were in England and I think it's so great that we have people in our group from all over the world! Sorry if you thought I was being obvious (or rude) with the name explanation, but I didn't know if you'd seen that post on the last thread. I like the word autumn much more than fall, but…

Thanks for getting our new thread back up and running Linda! bjshooter - you've got some great goals and I can't wait to hear how they go during the next 10 weeks or so. We were planning this challenge to go to Labour Day (excuse my Canadian spelling), which is September 5th. So that will take us into the beginning of fall…

Nikki - You're supposed to add a bit of walking here and there until you're comfortable with the distance. As others have stated, it's not meant to be super strict. Why don't you do the third W4 run in a couple of days, see how it goes, and maybe add an extra 30-45s of walking? Then, instead of repeating all of the week 4…

Thanks Linda! I don't know what I'd do without you guys to vent to and get encouragement from. I finished the last challenge at 107 miles, and I think I'm going to challenge myself to get to 125 miles this time. Running has shortened my distance (from elliptical, where I could do 4 miles in 50 minutes), but I expect I'll…

You're almost done...yay! Thanks for the words of encouragement :) Today I finished W5, D1 and it went well. I had a bit of heel pain (I think from not stretching my calves properly after a run last week, but I stretched really well today and I hope it's not a recurring thing. I'm looking forward to bumping up to 8 minutes…

Congratulations on running the whole thing! I think it's incredible that you ran for 40 minutes without stopping. I'm a slow runner too and I keep reminding myself to slow down and find a comfortable pace! Are you planning another 5k? Are you going to start training for a 10k?
-
Nikster - you look fabulous! What a transition from before to your new, athletic self! You're such an inspiration. I hope all the Americans have a great Independence Day! I'm back at work today, having enjoyed Friday off for Canada Day. Things are good, and I'll be hitting the gym later for a workout. Happy July 4th…

We could do the next challenge to Labour Day (Labor Day for you US types), which is Sept 5th this year. Or we could have a fall theme. Keep the pounds Falling off! Labour those pounds away! I don't know, but that's the timeframe we'd be looking at. If anyone has some suggestions for names, throw 'em out there! There's lots…
