  • I'm actually in the middle of experimenting with this. This wasn't really intentional nor are the observations precise or accurate, so take it with a grain of salt. All numbers are approximate. Gender: Male Height: 5'7" Sedentary February 2012 - May 2012 Starting Weight: 205 lbs Ending Weight: 195 lbs Lost about 10 lbs in…
  • My family always encouraged me to eat because I was a "growing boy". So, my portion sizes were always large. Large family gatherings with non-stop food coming out of the kitchen from breakfast to dessert didn't help. Always "You should try this" combined with "Don't waste food. Finish what's on your plate".
  • 5'7" here. My calves were largest at 17". I was always self-conscious about them because I'd have trouble fitting them into pants and boots/skates. They did receive some compliments, though I never understood why; even though they are muscular, I always associated it with being fat. Last I measured, they were around 16".
  • I see weight loss less as a goal and more as an end result of successfully accomplishing small tasks and goals that are a part of a healthy lifestyle. Taking a quick look at your exercise diary, this would be less of "I'm going to lose 1lb by Saturday", which might be an end result, and more "I will walk 2 miles Monday,…
  • Ditto the above. I think you're a cute girl, possibly in your early-to-mid 20's. I can't tell if you're packing on excess fat, but if you are, it doesn't show on your face. If there's anything that threw me off, it would be your eyeliner. Then again, that's just personal preference. I wouldn't worry too much. In terms of…
  • A banana, if available. If not, yogurt. Only time I've given in so far this year is if it has chocolate, is chocolate, or tastes like chocolate. ... That probably didn't help. Still, like others have mentioned, a few dark chocolate squares is usually enough to satisfy my chocolate cravings for a while.
  • I'm interested. Age: 24 Starting (01/06): 192.6 Goal (08/04): 150
  • It's actually been the opposite for me. Since I started attending the gym regularly, my usual partner has stopped coming and has been putting on weight. My family has ordered fast food more often and have baked a lot of pastries, and they don't even know how I'm progressing. This would happen every time I've started or…
  • This year: Having to move the belt up two notches compared to a year ago. This was compounded by the fact that I had trouble fitting pants that had been loose for as long as I could remember. And I broke in a new chair. Literally. Plus all of the usual reasons.
  • Depends on what you're using the measurement for. I weigh myself daily as a force of habit, but I do recognize that daily is too often. Our weights fluctuate way too much throughout the day and even on a given week to be a good indicator of anything that wouldn't be better explained by your food diary. What I do is have…
