I have lost 100+ lbs, there is no magic ratio of macronutrients that leads to more weight loss. I have simply ate less and not really worried about carb/fat/protein ratio.

My go-to breakfast format is Carb + Protein + Fruit. Could be cottage cheese, raisin bran, and some kiwi, or boiled eggs, oatmeal, and a banana.

This isn't a new thing... I went to elementary school 25+ years ago and junk food was banned. No junk food, chips, chocolate bars, candy, soda, etc... allowed for lunch. It was weird, because chocolate covered granola bars were allowed, but regular chocolate bars were not. You could also bring Twinkies-type cream filled…

I eat tinned beans in tomato sauce all the time, nothing better to go with a baked potato. Lots of iron, protein and fiber.

When you're buying all your food at the grocery store instead of half there and half at the drive-thru it looks like you're spending more, because all those $8 trips to the drive thru, you don't count on your grocery bill.

At costco you can buy big trays of pre-cooked chicken strips, meant for salads, etc... but you can just weight out a portion and snack on that. Zero carb and helps you feel full. As well, boiled eggs are always good and can be made in advance. The above commenter mentioned pork rinds, which are very low carb as well, and…

I don't regularly have cheat days. I have days where I might go over my allowance, but that's something I planned like a birthday party or christmas. I just don't feel like I need one, but I don't have a problem with other people needing one once in a while. Whatever works.

Whether you've gained/maintained isn't affected by whether you step on the scale or not. It's there even if you don't measure it. Get your butt back on that scale and recommit! You can do it!

I live in a remote part of Canada so we typically get a lot less choice than my American friends. When I want ice cream, I tend to go for portion controlled frozen yogurt bars that I can just grab and nom. Loblaw's/Dominion has a nice selection in their store brand (President's Choice) of greek frozen yogurt bars, my…

A baked potato with 30g shredded cheddar and some tinned beans are one of my favorite meals. A potato on its own isn't really a meal to me, but a couple of add ons and I'm happy.

Stop it. Unfortunately, there's no trick to this, beyond practising how to politely decline office snacks. All offices are the same in this regard, every day at my job I'm offered something or other, and you just have to say 'no thanks', unless you have room in your day and want to sacrifice the calories.

I love Wendy's for when I want fast food but don't want to 'spend' the calories. I typically order an ultimate grill sandwich (ask them to substitute a Jr. size bun for the large bun), and either a baked potato w/ sour cream & chives, or a half barbecue chicken salad. Wendys - Bbq Ranch Chicken Salad (Half Size) With 1…

Feel free to add me, 100-ers. My food diary is open and I have logged every day for over a year. Feel free to creep. I have already lost 100+ lbs but I could probably stand to lose 60-70 more.

Regular cheerioes taste fine to me. I think it's a matter of training your taste buds not to need super-sweet all the time by weaning yourself off sweetened cereals. I still have a hard time with regular oatmeal over the sweetened instant kind, but as far as cold cereals go I can have regular cheerios and be happy.

I made up a snack last week of a sliced banana with 2 tbsp of peanut butter dollaped on the slices. They look like little canapes. The PB makes this snack fairly high calorie at about 200 for the PB (I use regular non-'light' PB) and 100 for the banana if it's a medium/large one. But it's VERY filling and can easily be…

It's enough if you're not hungry until lunch. There's no rule that's 100% true for everyone. I would advise trying it out and if you get hungry before lunch then maybe have some protein, like a greek yogurt or a boiled egg. For some people the oatmeal might be enough, but for me I know I would get way hungry before dinner…

I tried a few different flavors once. Nothing to write home about.... the chocolate-flavored ones were better than the non chocolate ones. Not really worth going out of my way to get them, and they're very expensive as well.

Some great tunes to listen to on the elliptical: Alive - Daft Punk.... actually most Daft Punk works for exercising Marathon - Rush No Voices in the Sky - Motorhead Harley's & Indians - Roxette

You really don't -have- to have it. You're much stronger than you think. I gave up 90% of my vice foods cold-turkey and it's been over a year since I have had even a morsel of most of them. And you're talking to someone who could take down large bags of doritos and family size bars of cadbury chocolate in a single sitting.…

On my last trip to costco I got a package of pre-cooked chicken breast strips (chipotle flavor). I divided it into 55g portions and am using them for snacks or adding them to breakfast. only 70 calories and 15g protein with little carb/fat.

I lost over 100 lbs in the past year. Believe me, you can do it. Feel free to add me as a friend, but even if you don't want to do that, my food diary is open for anyone to browse. I cut out maybe 95% of the fast food, and almost all junk food (chips, chocolate, candy). It's tough to do when you're in a habit, but you have…

Don't do anything to lose weight that you're not prepared to continue doing for the rest of your life. I have lost 100+ lbs over the last year and 2 months, and if I had done so by jumping straight to a 1200 calorie a day diet and eating nothing but skinless chicken and arugula, then I'd be right back where I started…

It doesn't give you the flexibility to add/remove ingredients and add/subtract the calories/nutrition for the ingredients. Nor does it allow you to create a 'meal' like it used to. This was from the Canadian Wendy's site, by the way. Now if I go to my bookmarked nutrition calculator, it redirects to the american nutrition…

I watch Diners, Drive in's and Dives while on the elliptical. Don't judge me. It's kind of like vicariously having these awful-for-you foods, but only Guy Fiereri gets the calorie consequences.

I've all but completely cut out candy/junk/chocolate. Only on very special occasions do I partake. Last week for a relative's birthday I had a miniscule half-cup of haagen daaz gelato that was nearly 300 calories! I had to go on the elliptical for half an hour to justify that biddy thing! Was it good? Absolutely. But I…

I wasn't addicted to the food so much as how easy it was to obtain. I hated preparing meals or getting my lunch together for work the next day. I hit the drive through 6-7 times a week, sometimes every meal of the day would be fast food. I didn't even think about it for the most part. When I started MFP I had to quit…

Welcome, fellow newfie. One of us. One of us. Feel free to root around in my journal.

See if you can get a Rx for Ferramax brand iron capsules. I've been on normal iron pills and they really do a number on your gut. Ferramax, as long as I take them with food, don't bung me up or make me stomach sick. You'll still notice um.... a change in color of your poos, but that's about the only change I notice. Other…

The capris I bought last year are too big :( Losing weight is expensive.
