  • I do this with steak, I like mine medium and it's easier to cook properly if the meat is room temperature. usually takes an hour and a half or so.
  • Yeah, I removed the 'sugar' column in my diary. My diary now tracks carbs, protein, fat, iron, and fiber. Sugar is just carbs anyway, so no need to track that twice.
  • I can most certainly have one and stay within my goal limits. I'm all for the idea 'if you want one, have one and track it' I'm also not saying that there's no place for empty calories in a diet, I was just arguing against someone saying they were 'nutritious' as though using that to justify eating one. It's not…

  • No srsly... nutritionally they're pretty empty. If they fulfill some kind of emotional need, then have at it. Emotional eating is why I'm a fatty fat now, so I can't buy into your argument. :)

  • The Special K Crisps have the following flavors where I live: Regular crisp: Strawberry Blueberry Chocolate Cream Brown Sugar Cinnamon Chocolate crisp: Cookies n Cream (oreo) flavor Caramel filled They are a fair compromise with the pop tart, and just like pop tarts, they come in packs of 2, but the whole pack is only 100…

  • Geek/Nerd friends wanted. Star Trek, Dr. Who, Buffy & Angel, Cosmos (Sagan & deGrasse Tyson versions), gaming, AVGN, TGWTG. Looking for like-minded buddies!
  • Heh... Elevenses always makes me think of Lord of the Rings.... afternoontea... dinner... SUPPER?
  • A binge is literally thousands of calories in one sitting. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
  • Typically I get breakfast at 10, then I don't get lunch until 3 or 3:30 My go to breakfast currently is cottage cheese and some instant oatmeal, with some kind of fruit. It's pretty good at keeping me full. I also like hard boiled eggs, it's easy to boil them in advance and just grab 1 or 2 to take with you in the morning.…
  • I felt the same way when I saw the peanut butter variety of pop tarts. I chose not to buy them. But if you want one, then have one. Just remember that it's empty calories that's not really providing any nutrition.

  • A poached egg on a slice of thin buttered toast, with 3 strips of low sodium bacon, a half cup of blueberries and a nonfat yogurt.
  • Fiber only comes from plant foods, which are all carbs. The only thing I can think of might be nuts and beans, but even those are not really 'low carb'.
  • I don't trust Timmies sandwich sizes either. On the website there's small and large, but when you order from the menu there's no option for small and large anymore. At least the one where I go. I got a turkey bacon club a few weeks ago and it seemed HUGE for 400 calories. I also have a beef with Wendy's nutrition chart…
  • What helped me was to eliminate soda in all forms, regular and diet. I drink water, with a squirt of Mio or crystal light liquid. Probably not as good for me as pure water, but it's a nice balance. For the first couple of weeks it was difficult for me to go without my diet pepsi, which I drank ALL the time. It gets easier.
  • I hate that the baked chips or snacks cost more than the regular ones, even though you get less in the bag. WHY? Is it because they know people who are watching their intake will pay more? It doesn't seem fair that they take advantage of people who are trying to eat well and bypassing the crap.
  • I'm in the same boat as you, 30 lbs in 3 months, however I am following what the MFP says I should be eating to lose 2 lbs a week, and that appears to be what I am losing overall. I agree with the 1200 calories being way too low for someone our size. There's no way I could stick to that and not lose my mind or go off the…

  • You might get a little fibre with the dried fruit, but for weight loss, overall I don't think it's much different. You're better off having a piece of fresh fruit.
  • I was a binge eater as well. I had to change my routine a bit. For example, not go to the discount store on my break at work, where I would normally buy chips and candy to eat while at work. Stop going to the grocery store every day and only go a couple of times a week. If i don't buy it, then I can't binge on it. There's…
