  • What a wonderfully positive attitude, and very close :blushing: if I may say so, to my own!!
  • I weigh myself every Friday, Saturday & Sunday!! It used to be just every Saturday, and that would be the one I would enter into Progress on MFP, and also into a weekly "Food/How it's all Going Diary" I've kept for the last two years. This doesn't chart what I eat, but basically how I'm feeling each week, as the weight…
  • Well, we did a VERY brisk walk, for 50 minutes. A lovely evening, too, so it was fun, and flew by, Thighs felt it, and this morning so does the instep of the ankle I badly sprained a couple of months ago. But we're going to do it once a week, and should up the pace a bit each time.
  • <<You might need to give it more than a month, and you might have to adjust along the way. I started out at a very big deficit (1200 net) and lost quite a bit. But I felt hungry ALL the time, and hit a dead end after 50 lbs. After reading up on BMR and TDEE, I found that I should have been eating 1900 for my activity level…
  • AmyRhubarb (fantastic name!!) Thank you sooooo much, this is really REALLY lovely to read. The encouragement is wonderful.
  • <<Sorry OP, I meant to reply to you. Congrats and good luck. You have a great attitude about it. I was prepared for a freak out. Hang in there.>> Thank you - that's nice to hear. Someone at work said today she didn't think I needed to lose any more - I want to lose at least another stone (14lbs) and hopefully a stone & a…
  • I read a really excellent explanatory post on this just two weeks ago that was my inspiration for giving this a try, after finding the whole thing really really confusing. I've just tried looking for it to show you but just can't find it. If there's anyone out there reading this or wasthe original writer of that post ...…
  • Thanks to both of you for your replies and encouragement. I'm feeling pretty positive about it, though do feel somewhat guilty that I am sometimes stuffing myself just to eat those extra calories. That, I know, is simply that I've been on a low number for such a long time. It's quite fun, though, planning meals UP rather…
  • A bowl of porridge made with water, maybe 30g of chopped prunes, half a banana and 10-15mls of maple syrup dribbled over the top. And a mug of tea with milk. That's Monday-Friday breakfast, at the weekends I treat myself to tea and two slices of toast (the good bread!) with Marmite. I used to live on that - breakfast and…
  • I have to agree with Satiable - clothes are fun again. Mind you, I don't think they've EVER been fun until now, and I want to lose another 10-20lbs! I'll do it, too - and that's another fun thing... actually KNOWING and BELIEVING that I can and will achieve it!
  • I'm not a lover of fruit - I find it quite boring. I kind of have to gear myself up to have a piece. I eat half a banana with my breakfast porridge and would be quite content sticking with that. Every now and again, I get a "thing" for apples and eat one a day ... grapes are okay ... but on the whole, meh :indifferent:
  • Ooh. If I'm not counting calories? Gotta be bacon. Doesn't matter if it's white or wholemeal / granary bread but usually not white. With HP sauce. Or bacon & uncooked tomatto. Or it could be BLT. Or cheddar with Branston Pickle or piccalilli. Or, in a baguette, brie, lettuce & mango chutney. Or, really REALLY sinful. So…
  • It's also very good at working off a bad day at work!! I KO'd Matt the Trainer three times this week... Yes, if you do it RIGHT you can even sit down and do it, which is no good at all. I really *throw* those punches and work up a real sweat. I do about 30 minutes of it each night but this week (bad week at work) I've not…
  • Seconded! I want to wear it all the time now and had to resist it this morning... :glasses:
  • Ooh, I almost always wear heels... l only wear flats if I'm on my hols and walking a lot. I twisted my knee a couple of years back (nothing to do with heels!) and went to work the next day with crutches, and in flats. One of the guys saw me and "reported" back to the rest of the Department "Penny's wearing flat shoes".…
  • Well done! That is SUCH a great feeling!!
  • I don't think wii tennis burns *quite* that much - I generally put it down as around 4 cals per minute... It's actually my "cool down" activity - not the big Let's Do This one!
  • Thanks, Hon. And sorry for not replying sooner - I've been away on holiday and have been soooooo busy back at work playing catch-up! I put on weight on holiday (lack of exercise, not tooooo much over-indulgence!) but have managed to lose 6 of the 9lbs that went on in just a week. Good to know that I *can* do it!!
  • Yeah, props are the stuff you wear and can't breathe or sit in, or hold your stomach in all the time, or really are that one or two sizes too small! Thank you so much for the congrats!
  • Thanks, Gator! It's very much appreciated. I cannot believe it BUT I've actually enjoyed dieting this time around, because MFP has made it so much easier and controllable. I refuse to lie to myself about what and how much I've eating. It's true what they say... you only lie to yourself! Just booked Sunday lunch at a…
  • Thanks very much to both of you - it means a lot! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
  • It was Wii Sports and Just Dancing (the Just Sweat option) that has really worked for me - I seriously used to do next to NO exercise whatsoever. Now I do it every day and feel guilty / odd if I don't. I use the Tennis to slow/cool down - I love the Wii Boxing - that really takes my heartrate up and makes me sweat - great…
  • 40-something pounds since about May last year, but 35 since I joined MFP in January this year (YAY for MFP). This has been THE most successful diet ever, doing it the right way - slow and steady, healthy food & portions, and exercise - so this time it is staying OFF. It has to - I've got rid of all my fat clothes
  • Mostly barefoot, in the house. Little dance pumps if I'm doing Just Sweat.
  • Honestly, I can't remember a time when I wasn't. Apparently, my mother took me to the doctor when I was about 6 or 8 as she was so worried because I was a skinny little thing, but I don't remember that. The doctor took one look at me and said, "Don't worry, she's not ill or anything and she'll grow...". I look at photos of…
  • Great site! I guessed 2.5% bigger than I am and just half a size out - and I deliberated quite a while on those sizes - and an hourglass. I tried to look very objectively - and ordinarily I'd've put myself as larger but just over the last few months have noticed that Yes, I really DO have a waist now. I found it easier to…
  • I think I am the laziest, most undisciplined person I know! When I first started with MFP, I exercised maybe 10 - 15 minutes (and not too strenuously!) perhaps once or twice a week. That's slowly built up to 40-45 minutes every day - not too strenuous, but I am doing Just Sweat (and boy, do I!) for over half of that time…
  • How fabulous are you?! Seriously well done. A great inspiration.:flowerforyou:
  • When I was a callow youth at my first job (I was about 17) I teased the two older chaps I worked with by saying "What's it like hearing the songs you grew up with played as Golden Oldies?". Now, of course, I hear my own teenaged songs (and others, older) played exactly the same way... That one sure came back to bite me. I…
