Thanks peeps :) When I calculated my TDEE I went by the sedentary calorie suggestions as I still want to be able to log my exercise using MFP. Am I right in thinking that if I did it that way then I can eat back some of my exercise calories as they wouldn't have been included when I claculated my TDEE??

This is another really good one: http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/bmr/ When inputting your goal weight, use your current weight :)

About.com nutrition was where I read it today and I've read the same calculation while doing other research. Not to be taken as gospel obviously and from what I read that also doesn't factor in circumstances such as trying to build muscle etc :)

Most research suggests that to find how many grams of protein you should be eating simply multiply your weight in lbs by .37. Example: If you weigh say 180 then you have 180 x 0.37 = 66.6 so you should be eating around 67g of protein daily. 130g seems like a hell of a lot! I have my MFP set to 40% carbs, 30% protein and…

Great feedback ChangingAmanda, thank you :)

Bumping for all my US friends who will now be awake :)

Thank you Smaihlee :) I'm more than happy with losing slowly and I've definitely been happier with eating more calories. I feel like I can pretty much eat a bit of everything with 1675 cals plus exercise! I'm never hungry, it's great! :) Hopefully in a week or so I'll start to see some pounds drop off. Is it likely that…

I do like the fact that I've lost inches but then I think.....am I measuring right? Lol As I only have a tape measure. I always wonder if I've measured in the same place as last time!

Forgot to say.....ignore MFPs sugar limit. You can go over on their recommendation by eating two pieces of fruit! Not important unless you have certain health issues! :)

Do this: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/931670-bmr-and-tdee-explained-for-those-needing-a-guide?hl=bmr It could be that you're gaining muscle from your exercise if it's more than you were doing before :) The above post is a great run through of what really really works! All of your macros and sugars (protein, fat,…

HAHAHAHA!! LOVE THIS POST!! Too true, go heckle someone else on some other website all you haters out there :)

I know it sounds silly but do not pay any attention to what MFP suggests in terns of how many calories to eat. MFP told me to eat 1200 calories at the start......I then calculated my BMR USING MFP and I got a figure around the 1650 mark! MFP literally tells you what you want to know without really asking too many…

Your BMR is around the 1450 mark. I calculated this from info you gave in a previous post and going by your age from your profile. This is the MINIMUM amount of calories you should be eating so YAY for that :) http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/bmr/ Go to the above website and input your stats. Put your goal weight as your…

LOL!

MFP works in such a way that it expects you to eat your exercise calories back as well :)

Absolutely all of this! It was great for the 5 minutes that the chocolate lasted but the years of not liking what I saw in the mirror were not worth it! :)
-
I don't think you're eating enough. You need to be eating at least your BMR everyday and eating back the majority of your exercise calories on top of that too. So at least the 1400 calorie mark! READ THIS: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/912920-in-place-of-a-road-map-3-2013 It explains how your body works and why…

It is really really hard to up your calories from 1200 to much higher. I've just recently made the change myself and seriously struggled in the first week to eat more! Check out my post here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/950715-what-to-eat-to-up-your-calories I had lots of helpful feedback on things to eat to up…

Drink squash :) I put the smallest amount of squash in a pint glass and then fill it with water. I'm not a huge fan of water either but if you do that then you get the fruit flavour as well.

Hello :) Have you worked out your BMR? This is the amount of calories that your body would burn if you were in a coma, so literally doing nothing so you need to be eating at least this amount of calories to keep your body functioning correctly. With the info you gave I used this site: http://www.fat2fitradio.com/ to…

Absolutely agreed. I do track my calories just because I like to log on here everyday for the support and great people etc. I've been tracking since the beginning of this year and I would say that I already know what I can eat in a day to keep losing at a slow and steady pace so if I do decide to stop tracking, I'm…

I was exactly the same. It doesn't seem to make sense does it! Until you do the research and read all the facts :) It took me a couple of days of solid reading to get the hang of it. I just can't believe that MFP sets such low calorie targets yet if you calculate your BMR using MFP it gives you a much higher figure!!
-
Just saw your post about exercise :) You can either go by the calories mentioned above and eat back anything else that you burn through exercise and still log your exercise with MFP.... OR based on the exercise you mentioned above your TDEE would be roughly 2577 so 20% off of that is 2062. If you eat this amount of…
-
I'm assuming you're 26 too from looking at your profile :) Your BMR is 1874 so this is the minimum amount of calories that you should be eating on a daily basis. Your TDEE is 2249. This is with your activity level set as sedentary ie. no exercise, as I wasn't sure how much you do weekly. So basically that TDEE is how many…
-
No problem :) How much exercise do you do in a week?? x
-
If you go by your TDEE minus 20% so that you have a deficit of around 500 cals per day, you should be eating about 1900 cals a day. That's incorporating all of your exercise so don't eat exercise cals on top of that :) MFP seems to set us all way too low. I recently upped my cals to 1650 plus exercise cals based on TDEE…

Bit much to say you don't like him because he's a little insecure in himself, poor guy. I don't think the OP was expressing any discontent towards her hubby so not necessary for anyone else to.
-
Not if you chose an activity level above sedentary :) If you chose anything other than sedentary, your exercise cals would have been taken into consideration when calculating how many calories you should be eating per day :)

Oh my life......I seriously want chocolate now! Haha But my vote is for the caramel egg! :)
