• Started at 26.4 (overweight), am now at 23.4 (healthy) after 14 weeks and 20 pounds!
• good read! thanks for posting.
• It's divided up by weeks, but I think you could skip a few days of an easier level and opt for a more difficult one. I find level 1 to be really easy so I'm probably not going to spend a whole week on it. I'll move up to level 2 after probably 4 days. But Jillian recommends you do it 5-6 days a week, always giving yourself…
• Never thought of greek yogurt! Hope it turns out! I'm not a fan of the tanginess of greek yogurt but I bet it would be hidden well in the creaminess of the avocado. Let me know how it goes!
• My mother has always told me, and I think she's right, that it takes 21 days to really make something a habit. It's going to be hard, but by March 28th, it should just be habit and you'll start to make healthier choices without having to work at it. Keep it up, stay strong and the difficulty will pass before you know it!…
• Likewise. I'm partial to "*kitten* hat" as well.
• Relax, it's just water weight. I can weigh myself first thing in the morning, then weigh myself an hour later after a workout and two bottles of water and weigh 2 pounds more. There's no way I gained two whole pounds in one hour's time, no matter what I was doing. Don't worry about it. Weigh yourself first thing in the…
• My favorite way to eat it is on sandwiches. Actually, that's the ONLY way I like eating it. I make a spread, similar to the kind the Jimmy John's and Subway serves. It's really easy: just take two RIPE avocadoes (they have to be squishy otherwise your spread will be chunky, not creamy), mix in 1 T of real mayonnaise (you…
• I think I got lucky in that it seems that all of my weight loss has come off my problem areas. But I have been doing a lot of weight lifting which I think is helping all over. And a lot of the times my workout includes walking, either on the treadmill or outside with my dog. I think walking is great for all over weight…
• Wow! Congratulations! You can definitely tell the difference! You are well on your way to hitting that goal :drinker:
• Funny! The only other Fargoan I know on here is my boyfriend. I'm originally from Wisconsin but moved up here last March. Happy losing, fellow NDer! And thanks for the support :)
• :drinker:
• Sounds good! I'll try it! Thanks for the help everyone!
• Just ordered the DVD yesterday so I'll be starting when it comes :) I've also done Jillian's Banish Fat Boost Metabolism DVD which is an amazing workout if anyone is looking for a good mix of cardio and strength. I'll still be hitting the gym in the mornings to do my cardio, and probably do RI30 in the evenings.
• I consider myself lightly active. I'm a chemist and spend about equal parts of my day walking around a lab and sitting in my office doing paperwork. I would say sedentary is a desk job with little to no movement required (answering phones, emails, etc.). Lightly active would be someone like a nurse (or myself) who spends…
• I love roasted sweet potatoes. I'll peel and dice 2 of them, then toss with olive oil, cumin, cinnamon, paprika and cayenne. I usually roast them at about 450 degrees until they start to darken/they're at the texture I want. They're fabulous.
• Absolutely not. Yes, you'll lose it quickly, but it will be all muscle you're losing. Then once you start to eat normally again you'll just gain it all back. Sustainable weight loss means losing slowly. You MUST have at least 1200 or you will surely make yourself sick.
• I'm 5'8" and currently weigh 156. Started at 173 and am hoping to get to around 145. In high school I ranged from between 120 to 125, but was noticeably too thin. People thought I was anorexic, but really I just had a very high metabolism as I was a 2-sport athlete and therefore was working out 2 hours a day, 5 days a…
• I made hummus melts last night, super easy and delicious... and on the cheap! You can make however many you want, but what you do is: Take half an English muffin, spread with 1 T hummus (I used roasted garlic), add a few leaves of baby spinach and top with 1/4 C mozzarella cheese. Hit it with the broiler for a few minutes…
•
"Because if you can't dead lift then it's not a real gym. And apparently they shove the pizza and bagels down your throat and toss tootsie rolls at you while you're running on the treadmill."
This does not happen anywhere, let alone at a Planet Fitness. They offer free pizza and bagels once a month as a…
• Ahhhh, okay. I wasn't aware that the two exercises that you think are the best are also the best for every other person out there. Silly me. For the record, there are people doing barbell squats all day long at my PF location. And if there are locations out there that are so terribly bad that you think "why would anyone…
• MOST are utter trash? Have you been to MOST Planet Fitness locations in order to make such a comment? I'm guessing no, since you seem to be so obsessed with your end-all, be-all perfect gym that you wouldn't dare step foot in such a "low-class" establishment. You have obviously never been to the PF I go to because they…
• Not sure why everyone is hating on PF so much... It's the only gym I've ever belonged to and I love it. I don't have to pay $50 a month for things I won't use, like free childcare. I've been going there 4-5 days per week, can always get on a machine right away and never have had to wait to use any of the free weights.…
• You may be better off with regular or lite cream cheese. "Fat free" cream cheese doesn't really exist... They just replace the fat with calorie-free artificial sweeteners. You're much better off eating the real thing, just less of it. Plus, you need a little fat in your diet to help absorb certain vitamins that the veggies…
• There have been dozens of people on here telling you you're not eating enough. And you still don't know if you're eating enough or not? YOU'RE NOT EATING ENOUGH! You're putting your body in starvation mode so it's holding onto every little thing it has left to make up for the lack of energy you're giving it. Seriously, try…
• I agree with the above poster... if you're not hungry, don't eat. Perhaps you've set your calorie goal too high? You don't have to worry about eating back your exercise calories, but you also don't want to lose weight too quickly because then it's likely you'll gain it all back after you stop counting calories. Stop eating…
• I make a "Two Bean Southwestern Chicken" that I looooooooove. 4 boneless skinless breasts in the bottom (trimmed of fat) Pour over 1 jar of your favorite salsa (I like jalapeno salsa) Layer all of the following over the top: 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes, 1 can rotel tomatoes, 1 can black beans, 1 can pinto beans, 1 can corn…
