if you are working out 6 times a week, you will still lose weight at 1400 calories. i work out 4 times per week and am eating ~2100 calories per day. i was in your shoes not too long ago... so afraid to gain that I was still very strict on myself. the problem was that i was still LOSING even at 2000 calories per day (I am…

I personally am not a fan of yoga, but I know my mom was really able to kick her fitness into high gear when she started doing yoga regularly. You may experience similar results, so I think this is a good idea and worth a shot.

Not necessarily true. My workouts are 60 minute Jazzercise classes (35 minutes of cardio, 25 minutes strength and stretch) and I routinely burn 500+ calories. You are right, however, about 1200 calories being way way WAY too low.

Worked wonders for me. I did it very, very slowly, and kept losing until one day I started maintaining. I added about 100 calories to my goal on the first of every month after I hit my goal weight, then lost an additional 9 pounds before finally hitting the maintenance number. Of course, if you dont' want to lose…

Wow - thank you everyone for such an outpouring of support. I can't tell you how great of advice you have given me, you have all given me a feeling of hope. I do have an update to give: Yesterday, my sister sent me a text that said, "Do you have any clothes that don't fit you anymore? I'm starting to lose weight and my…

Polar FT4, hands down. Didn't spend a fortune on it and have used it almost every single day for the last 8 months and haven't had any trouble with it, other than needing to get a new battery. Look for them on Amazon. I purchased mine for about $65.

I am 5'8". Started at 173.8 and set my original goal to 145 but am now at 131.2 and really like the way I look and feel.

You can definitely tell a difference, you look so much thinner now. But I know how you feel. I lost 42 pounds and feel like I only lost about 10. But I always remind myself of the size pants I used to wear and the size I wear now, and that makes me realize that those 42 pounds did indeed make a huge difference.

I'm very sorry to hear you're dealing with this. It sounds frustrating. Strange that laxatives and fiber are not helping you. However, there IS such a thing as too much fiber, and if you're already eating lots of fruits and veggies, perhaps you're putting yourself over the line and stepping into "too much" territory.…

No need to panic. I went into maintenance 2 months ago and am only now starting to stabilize in weight. I think I lost an additional 7.5 pounds after I hit my goal weight, but that's because I increased my calories so slowly so I wouldn't experience a big gain right away. Your body will eventually find its equilibrium…

Your body tends to store about 5 lbs of glycogen (the storage form of glucose) in your liver. When you are eating at a calorie deficit, your body uses this glycogen to make up for that deficit until it is depleted (this is why you lose a few pounds very quickly when beginning a calorie restricted diet). Once depleted, your…

I went from 1310 to 1950 very (and I mean very gradually) and continued to lose weight until I got there. I have been struggling mentally with convincing myself that I need to eat all of those calories because I have trained myself to fear going over my goal. If you increase slowly, you will be fine. And remember, you…

wake up, go pee, get naked and weigh yourself. that should give you the most accurate weight.

You want to NET 1200 calories, not eat 1200 calories total. The previous poster is correct, as you lose weight, you need to make your goal less aggressive in order for it to be more sustainable. If you have a lot to lose, you will lose a lot right away because of the large calorie deficit. If you have a lot to lose,…

2300 calories per day to LOSE weight seems a bit high. Also, if you are doing the TDEE-20% method, you cannot eat back your exercise calories or you will not lose weight.

I log every day and always try to keep in touch with my pals. Feel free to add me :)

I just used three different TDEE calculators. One said 2003 calories per day, the other two said 2235 calories per day. The lesson here being that what the internet tells you to do is not gospel. They don't know you, don't know how many steps you take in a day, what type of exercising you do, etc. I say the best way is how…
