Nice swim, Panda, enjoy your weekend & travel safely..... Rob - I'm also not a morning person, but I do much better getting my swim in at 6am when the pool opens. At least it gives me the rest of the day to get stuff done, when I used to go later it killed the entire day... Had to do the freestyle workout today because the…

Gutzy - I need to do the same thing to stretch, I do it after my first 250 yards. I find it much easier to get a better stretch after I get the blood flowing a little bit.....
-
Make that 114 minutes.....
-
All freestyle (in yards) today: 250, 500, 1000, 1500, 1500, 1000, 500, 250 in 1114 minutes......

LOL, that's always my first reaction too. If it downpours & stirs up the water enough, the lifeguards can't see to the bottom so they close for that reason.....

I agree, it's not right to ask you to do something at a particular pace & then say you should have done more. You can either respond to them & see if they'll let you show them you can do it at the pace they e-mailed you about or go to the other club - choice is yours. Whichever club gets you gains, if it's not the first…

I.M. workout today: 250 free, 500 free, 1000 free, 5 x 200 I.M., 500 free, 5 x 200 I.M., 1000 free, 250 free 98 minutes.....

Juliet - LOL, I lose form pretty quickly, but usually gain it back within a few workouts, however, this last go round it's been a real struggle getting it back.....
-
All freestyle today: 250, 500, 1000, 1500, 1500, 1000, 500, 250 yards 114 minutes actual swim time. Finally feeling like I'm getting my form back (somewhat....lol)

I get that the pages of his clients showing success are attractive - but does anybody really believe that all of his clients achieve that kind of success? I wonder how many pages there are of clients who have had no results at all. Of course he's going to highlight the successful ones, that's what draws the potential…

Welcome to the group, Sara - most of us here are in the same boat, that's why we're here. Some are at different stages & some have different goals, but we can all relate. I think you'll be happy with how your health improves if you stick to it. Best of luck with the open water swim, I think it's great that you gave…

Beneita, welcome to the group - there are a lot of very nice, encouraging people here. That said, your true encouragement will come from yourself when you push yourself to swim 1 more length, to add time/distance to your workout, etc. You really have no need to worry about other people at the pool because they're too…

Welcome to you also, beneita!!!

Welcome, Emma - it really is a great group here!!!!

I think you're on the right path. Your overall health is your #1 priority, as it should be. As to what to do for workouts, you're going to be your own best guide because you'll know how your body feels & what it reacts best to. I like the recumbent bike also, if you enjoyed it it's easily something you can continue with…

Welcome back to the pool, Alicia!!!

Gutzy - I go through the same thing when I miss an extended amount of time like that, what I find is that I feel rusty for a bit when I first get back in but it evens out pretty quickly. I don't worry as much about my pace for those first few workouts & I let my body guide me on my rest intervals between sets, before long…

As always, there's some great swimming going on here. Didn't swim yesterday (played golf, walked the course ). It was a pleasant surprise to be able to go today, it's a work day but we left later than I thought we were going to although I had to cut it short to get back from the gym in time. All freestyle : 250, 500, 1000,…

Welcome to the group, Crys, you're gonna really enjoy it here - there are a lot of swimmers who actively post & they're really nice people......
-
I know what you mean, AQ, I find that when I'm getting my best work in people comment on how smooth & easy my stroke looks but I'm pretty wiped out when I'm done.....
-
If you keep at it, the fly endurance will build faster than you expect, nice work!!!!! All freestyle today - felt VERY sluggish & sloppy (I HATE days like this): 250, 500, 1000, 1500, 1500, 1000, 500, 250.......
-
I have absolutely no doubt that you're in!!!! Thanks for keeping us posted

@NoelFigart1 - I would bet if you looked into a Masters program, they would get you into a lane with swimmers of a similar ability (assuming you'd be interested)..... I.M. workout today, with a serious case of dead arms: 250 free, 500 free, 1000 free, 5 x200 I.M., 500 free, 5 x 200 I.M., 1000 free, 250 free......

Juliet is right on the money - ultimately you will want the stroke rate up while getting the full length of a powerful pull, but first you need to get the pull going all the way to the end. Once it becomes natural you can increase the stroke rate. It won't take long to get it, as long as you concentrate on the technique to…

Another thing that might help, after the pull keep the hands in close to the torso as you are recovering for the next pull to help cut down on the drag. I also personally found that it made it easier to shoot my arms out for the next stroke......
-
Hope it works, AQ - if not then get it checked......
-
Juliet - you're not breaking something when you fix something else, you're just finding the next thing you want to work on. I'm not sure you realize how far you've come, being able to self diagnose like that - great job..... Panda - thanks, it's not my first go round. Thankfully, it gets caught early enough that what they…

Thanks, everybody, I really appreciate this. Thankfully, this isn't something I need to worry about - it just stinks missing a few days in the pool....
-
Thanks, Ms_J, all is well - they were really small spots. Not my 1st go round, I had 2 other spots removed a couple of years ago - Irish skin & a lifetime in the sun. Basal cell takes a REALLY long time to become dangerous, & that won't happen because I regularly go to get checked. The treatments next week are unrelated -…

Buoy or no, don't swim open water without somebody right there with you. It just isn't worth taking the chance, too many things (many of them not in your control) can happen......
