  • I gave up on the treadmill, however I ran on the pavement for 1 hour 18 minutes and 39 seconds which was spot on a half marathon!
  • I assumed, like old diesels, they need to warm up first, otherwise the engine could seize up and cause you to fly forward.
  • Brilliant advise, I never thought about trying it on an incline, I'll give it a go this weekend. If I still can't get the hang of it I guess I'll try attempting running on the pavement. Although I'm sure they're more perils on the tar mac than on a treadmill.
  • But my trainer explicitly said "Let it warm up first before starting to run, otherwise you could cause an injury"
  • I have a rough idea, macros will be 175 grams of protein, 90 grams of fat and the rest in carbs. Carb heavy for in the first half of the day then protein heavy in the last half. I'll try and keep away from carbs after lunch. 1) Big bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes for breakfast 2) Peanuts and pistachios are good for protein…
  • I'm in a similar situation to you with similar goals. I'm 11st 11lbs eating about 1800 per day doing 5x5 weight lifting. Lost 6 lbs since January mainly of fat from belly. In March I'm going to up calories to 3,000, still got a bit of belly to go, but going to do that for a couple months and just lift heavy.
  • I'm looking at getting this rack, there's a few different ones on ebay (uk) currently. http://www.powerhouse-fitness.co.uk/bodymax-cf475-heavy-power-rack-with-latlow-pulley.php
  • There are some mixed views, but I think the general consensus is that lbs are for posers and kg for those who want to make real muscle gains?
  • What do you think about purple and yellow camo style?
  • Most gyms should give you an induction and teach you how to do everything properly. Ask one of the trainers if they can come up with a work out schedule and also ensure you're performing the exercises correctly.
  • Would it just stop them from working completely? Would they no longer build muscle or tone?
  • ...seriously aliens?! come on, please, let's be serious, if you have nothing constructive to say, like what brand of purple spray paint I should buy, then just read.
  • I always imagined lactic acid to be yellow, what colour would counter this to enable no burn but still maximum muscle gain?
  • I can think in both, although I do tend to convert lbs to kgs in my head, so I guess that's another reason not to use lbs as I don't want to waste training time on working out the weight.
  • That's an excellent question, will the weights continue to work if I spray paint them myself? If they still maintain performance for building muscle mass then I would think, military green would be the most effective or racing green with go faster stripes for toning?
  • Yes but if I understand correctly, body builders are too weak to be power lifters and power lifters are too fat to be body builders. And Americans are typically fatter (no offense intended to anyone) than us Brits, and they use lbs. Now I'd rather be a body builder so should I stick to kgs?!?
  • I wasn't debating the heaviness, (although that is good to know), but is one more for toning and the other for building muscle?
  • I guess I'm going with the rubber plates. I'm not going to be dropping them, I may still do deadlifts, but I'll just stick the weights on a phone book if it's not at the correct height.
  • I do like the 3rd method however the obese guy in our team can never win and based on last months figures was bottom of the table every week despite loosing the most. And in terms of straight weight loss, I don't actually want to loose weight at all, I want to loose fat and gain muscle. I need some fancy formula, maybe…
  • I like the sub category idea, however there's only 10 of us all different ages, shapes and sizes. However I could somehow weight every ones weight/fat loss depending on what category they are in to give kind of a score? Any ideas on what the maximum weight someone can expect to loose based on those criteria?
  • I have 25g of peanuts and 25g of Cashews around 11 o'clock. Good slow release of energy for the rest of the day.

  • I don't eat any fast food or chocolate so I can have lots of larger at the weekend. :)
  • Do you get headaches when on a flat bench doing presses? Try to do the press ups with yours hand elevated on a chair or step and see if that fixes it. It can happen with some people where blood goes to the head. Also make sure you are doing them correctly, breath out when pushing up and in on the easy bit. Don't hold your…
  • Ok based on what most people are saying, I think I'll cut my calories for a few weeks to lower my body fat, currently at 16%. So what should it be? I have a 12 pack beer belly and skinny everywhere else. I don't want to loose what little muscle mass I already have so I don't want to diet for too long. I'll still weight…
  • I have no chocolate or fast food all week so I can have 5 pints of larger at the weekend. :)
  • I guess I have difference goals. As I'm not trying to lose weight I don't want to always be under on my calories. I'm more trying to eat healthier and gain muscle.
  • Nothing wrong with a 3 egg omelette cooked in a little olive oil. I have them every weekend.
