We all feel that way at one time or another. The important thing is to never give up. While genetics do play a role, it doesn't mean that you can't overcome them. You must make a commitment - mental and physical. What is important to you? How do you want your future to be? Please don't quit! You are worth as many chances…

I have done that 3 times now - lost weight and gained back even more! So, I feel your pain and know exactly where you are coming from. This time, I am doing it right - losing slowly and making the lifestyle changes that I need to keep it off. I have lost 47 pounds since last May, and I have 42 more to go. I joined MFP in…

What a great idea! In 2006, both of my parents passed away within four months of each other. I am an only child, so I didn't have any siblings to help out during their last illnesses, although my husband was very supportive and helpful. After their deaths, I became very depressed and turned to emotional eating. My husband…

That is truly inspirational! Thanks so much for posting! It is nice when hard work and dedication pay off! Keep up the good work!

Your post is really a cry for help for YOU. Go to your college counselor. Work out a plan and get out of this relationship as fast as you can. You deserve better than that, and you can get better than that. Somehow you think you are better off with him (someone) than without him (no one). I am sorry you don't have any…

There are always more social activities on the weekends, and most of them seem to involve food! It takes time and dedication, but you have to PLAN, PLAN, PLAN!!! If you know you are going to be "bad", then save calories, or do extra workouts to give you more calories to consume. If you work things out in your head ahead of…

OMG! Totally me! Perhaps we just aren't photogenic or something! What I see in the mirror is definitely not what I see in pictures!

My attitude!!!! I can do this!!!!! I must do this!!!!

That is great! Congratulations! I haven't been under 200 since 1998, but I am working to get there! That is a HUGE accomplishment and you have every right to be proud! Keep up the good work!

We all struggle - and we all have bad days! The important thing is that you have more good days than bad days! Don't let it get you down. It is a plus that you are admitting it and that you logged everything! You are owning it, and you will conquer it!

I eat out more than I eat at home. I hate cooking, I am not creative, and I hate cleaning up! I have plenty of friends who like to meet for dinner. It is hard not to indulge when you go out, but a big part of going out is usually socializing with friends/family. I try to look at the social aspect of it and tell myself -…

I agree - without the "click" it doesn't seem to work. The "click" changes your attitude and gives you the mindset that you need to stick with the program and continue on to better health. My latest click (there have been many over the years!!!) was right after my 51st birthday. I sat on the floor and had a hard time…

Made my lunch to bring to work - a nice big healthy salad with lettuce, apples, carrots, cucumbers, cabbage, , broccoli, and blueberries! Exercised before going to work!

McDonald's! Lean Cuisines have way too much sodium!!!!!

Everyone has a bad week! The trick is to not let it become a bad two weeks, then a bad month! Start right now and focus on what is important to you and why you joined MFP in the first place - you want to be healthy! You want to feel better about yourself! You are down 20 pounds - that is great! You have all the motivation…

I applaud you! My husband LOVES to go to the Chinese buffet restaurants, and he loads on up. I used to do the same, but I am NOT doing that any more. I am proud of you, and you handled this perfectly! I have to say I have gotten to know the Chinese waitresses over the years, and sometimes the cultural differences don't…

I often do that so that I stay in my calories! It helps give you a road map for the day - as long as you stick to what you put down and make any necessary changes.

You have to take advantage of FREE! Just don't eat it all at once and stay in your calories! Enjoy!

I have a 76-year old aunt who is about 100 pounds overweight. For years, I have been trying to get her to lose weight. Her doctors have even implored her to lose weight, because the older you get, the more problems the extra weight causes for your body. She has had both knees replaced, which was necessitated by the extra…

I love reading books! I always have a book in progress - especially drama, mysteries, and legal action! I don't think as many people read books as they used to. Too many other demands on our time.

It is not stupid at all! We all go through it! Every single day is a conscious decision to keep on track. Just don't quit trying! Good luck!

I am so disgusted with women's sizing in ALL STORES! There is no consistency between stores. You never know what size you fit into before you try stuff on. Men have it so easy! They walk in and ask for a 34 waist and a 32 length, that is what they get. I wish all women's clothing could be uniform in sizing! Also, I think…

I am very sorry to hear of your loss. Fathers and daughters have special relationships. My dad passed away in 2006, and I still miss him every day. Nothing is like losing a parent, so I will keep you, your dad, and your family in my prayers. Things will never be the same, but they will become manageable. Your pain will…

Waiting for your plateaus to be over so that you can FINALLY see a drop because you have been doing EVERYTHING right!!!

Going on vacations where food is everywhere and available all day - like all inclusive resorts or cruises!

This is my third go-around with weight loss! I am determined that this will be the LAST TIME because I am making it a life-style change and NOT a diet. My first big weight loss was in my early 30's. Then I did it again in my mid 40's. Now I am almost 52 and doing it again. This last time was the most I ever weighed. I was…
