I have the Fitbit and I love it. As far as accuracy, it's pretty accurate even though it doesn't have a heart rate monitor. It asks for your gender, weight, height and it factors all of those things in. When I used a heart rate monitor and then used a calories burned calculator, the calories burned according to my Fitbit…

I used to think the same thing. Then I realized that it was because I was having it in addition to all my other foods and going over calories for the day (this was before I started counting calories). Now I work it into my calories and, as you can see from my ticker, I'm not gaining weight.

These are good suggestions. I would sometimes also have a glass of milk. Another thing I like to sometimes do is get a half a banana and slice it open. Spread some peanut butter on each half and top it with some shaved dark chocolate. Carbs, protein, and sugar...and it's delicious!

Water is great, but like you, it doesn't always calm hunger for me either. The whole hunger could be thirst disguised is true on the weekends when I don't drink as much water, but during the week I"m not dehydrated. Food works for me too...or telling my stomach to shut up cause I just fed it

^This. Plus, are you trying to lower your carb intake or trying a low carb diet? I eat more carbs than you listed above and I'm not over my recommended daily limit (today alone I had a smoothie with yogurt, strawberries, and 1/2 a banana then for lunch I had a cup of soup which had pasta, veggies, and 2 slices of…

So many packaged foods do this and it irks me lol. Like Pop-tarts, Yakisoba's, those "individual" bowls of Campbell's soups. They package it to look like individual portions and then you read the number of servings and it says 2 or about 2. :grumble: Like so many people learn using this site, that's why it's SO important…

For me the sneakiest foods have been things like coffee creamers and dressings. What I thought was 2 TBS of dressing was actually 3-4. Those calories can add up quick not to mention the added fats and sugars.

I like the Elliptical. We had to cancel our gym memberships so we purchased an Elliptical for the home. It's one of the best investments we've made IMO. Both my husband and I use it, but I do other work outs too so I don't get bored.

These sound yummy...I'm going to have to try them.

Me too. It says I'm 25% smaller than what I chose but I still don't see it. I can maybe see that I picked too high, but I still say they picked too small. Am I really that hard on myself?

I don't know about anybody else, but my bananas don't look like that when I peel them. Looks more like a cucumber trying to pass itself as a banana...

Bump...I want to try this out when I get home.

These are great and inspiring!! I always think of John Locke from Lost--"Don't tell me what I can't do!" I can do it, and I will

I agree. I read another similar article too written in first person from a woman who had the surgery. She agreed that she thought it would change things, but the surgery didn't fix what was going on with her mentally and emotionally so when she looked in the mirror she still saw the same person she was before the surgery.…

I started counting calories in a notebook a few years ago and thought there had to be an easier way. Googled it and found this site. So much easier!!

I love this combo! This is actually my favorite of the cottage cheese/fruit combos. I even use cottage cheese instead of yogurt in my fruit smoothies. But, it did take until I was an adult to like cottage cheese this much so I understand how it is unappealing to others. For me...I had the bright idea to cut up my fruits…

"The Christmas Shoes" by Newsong. That's my pick too...always makes me cry...I can't even think about it or explain the meaning to someone without getting choked up.

Before I noticed that whey protein was making me gain weight. Then I realized it wasn't the powder itself making me gain weight but the fact that the calories in the shake I was making was putting me over my calorie intake for the day (I was having it after a workout but in addition to my other meals--this was before I…

Some good tips (especially coffee lol). Also as someone mentioned how much water do you drink? I read that if you increase fiber intake but don't drink enough water that's what can bind you up. Water is needed for fiber to work. Is this a normal for you? If not, a dose of Senekot will get you back on track. I recently had…

I actually have my music playlist on a blog if you want to take a look at it. I had to have 3 lists because of all the music I like lol. Also, I love Hans Zimmer and though I wouldn't normally listen to his music while working out, I've been listening to the soundtrack Rush while jogging or on the elliptical. Especially…

Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?

I'll have to check it out when I get home from work. At lunch, but they block youtube and my phone sucks :grumble:

I'm 29 and will be turning 30 in July. Feel free to add me! I currently weigh 215 and am looking to reach my goal weight of 140.

What I mean is that I only log water as water when I'm drinking it plain, nothing added to it. I could technically count Snapple tea as water since tea is made mostly of water, but the point of 'me' logging my water is to make sure I'm consuming water and not other caloric drinks. It's a personal preference. Some people…
-
Same for me. I don't even log the water I add to my morning smoothie (less than 1 cup)...I only log water when I actually drink a cup of it.
