  • I would love some support on this journey. I lost 30 pounds several years ago (still had more weight to lose but stalled), and kept off the 30 pounds until recently. I'm 5'5" and currently weigh 233. My goal is 140ish (normal weight range for me is 130-150).
  • My top 2 for the gym: 1. I needed to use a machine, but someone's stuff was there. He was talking to his friend who was using a different machine, so I asked if he was using the machine I needed. He said yes, so I was like ok I'll come back. I used 3 different machines (3 sets of 10 each machine), meanwhile he didn't use…
  • Yes!! And Rage...
  • I second Disturbed and also like Muse, Apocalyptica, and Shinedown. I like so much music I had to create a few playlists for all of them, but right now these are my go to's. Also I love Reign, Into the Red, and Lost But Won by Hans Zimmer (from the Rush soundtrack). They're motivational and inspiring at the same time.
  • Of course you mentioning this makes me think of South Park...
  • Ditto. It's crazy how in high school it didn't matter what I ate because I was at least active enough to keep it off, and even though I ate whatever, I didn't eat too much. That all changed as the years went on...
  • 1. You may want to get off of MFP for a while - obsessing is only going to make things worse for you. 2. Why did you pass out? Was it because you really didn't want to eat calories at that time? You say you suffered from low blood sugar problems before. As someone who also suffers from low blood sugar at times, I have…
  • Caster's story was the first thing that popped into my head too after reading this post.
  • I was thinking the same thing!
  • My two cents: 1. Whatever you did to lose the first 25 keep doing that (adjusting calorie allotment as needed). 2. Maybe try to have other non scale goals too. This way if you don't hit the weight goal you want you can look at what you did accomplish so you don't get down on yourself. 3. Do strength workouts with cardio. I…
  • I had lost some weight before I became pregnant but was still obese and the doctor still wanted to see me gain 20 pounds. Realistically, though, I would hope that the poster is going for regular checkups and if it was an issue that the doctor would mention something and the poster would follow the doctor's advice.
  • Maybe if we were the last two people alive, and there were no sheep. Are there sheep?
  • I agree with the other posts that this is most likely water retention from the new exercise. If after a few weeks nothing's budging, though, then you may want to take a good look at your food diary to make sure you're not accidentally underestimating calories consumed. This happened to me and I wasn't creating the calorie…
  • So...you make posts about Dr. Katahn's diet...say that you haven't made posts about Dr. Katahn's diet...then when someone calls you out on it you say WE'RE obsessed with Dr. Katahn's diet? Is this supposed to be some form of reverse psychology or Jedi mind trick or something?
  • You can Bing it :) I'm guessing your daughter is younger so I wouldn't recommend adding this to the reading list...just fyi. That's great you read to her. I love reading to my son as well...it can be very good for development and it's great for bonding too.
  • LOL! I'm guessing you haven't read A Modest Proposal?
  • I've come to the conclusion that Of_Monsters is the Jonathan Swift of MFP. I could be wrong though...
  • I second what everyone else above has said. Depriving yourself of sleep is not going to work. I like what Tony Horton says - think of your body and what you do to it as a pendulum. When you're up and active (work, exercise, day to day errands) the pendulum is going one way. Resting swings the pendulum the other way…
  • I didn't used to think I was dehydrated until I started drinking more water. My urine wasn't dark like what's in the chart above but I had dimples in my nails that the doctors couldn't explain...started drinking more water and over time they disappeared...go figure. Oh and drinking more water gives me more energy and my…
  • In the beginning, it was about me wanting to look the way I did in high school before I gained all this weight, and getting healthy in the process would be a bonus. Now it's about me getting stronger/healthier and accomplishing things I never could even when I was thinner, and looking better is the bonus to all of that.
  • I have the Fitbit as well and the calories it's showing is total burned including those you burn at rest. To get a better idea of what you burn during a certain exercise you'll have to break down the calories burned during that time. It might also depend on the Fitbit. I used to have a Fitbit One but now I have the Fitbit…
  • As far as your weight loss goes: There was a time I was frustrated like you. I was logging my food and exercise intake and I was in a deficit so why wasn't I losing weight?! I would look at my husband who lost weight with no problem, then look at myself in the mirror crying. Then I really (and I mean really) looked at what…
  • That's the truth. My husband even finally told me "if I say something to you and there's two ways you can take it - the way that isn't negative is how I meant it." By nature I'm a defensive person (and I have self esteem issues) so I always assume there's a hidden negative meaning to everything. I remember one time a few…
  • Great gif! I feel the same way. I'm able to control my salads pretty well, but for me the real eye opener was my coffee. By the time I added my cream and sugar it was almost as many calories as my breakfast. I was like :o :( As others said, that's the great thing about this site. Once I saw it then I was able to change it.…
  • I take GNC's Women's Green. The GNC brand of multivitamins are the only ones that actually make me feel BETTER. All other vitamins I've tried (such as Centrum or One a Days) either didn't make me feel any different or made me feel worse. The Green formula from GNC is also easier on the stomach. I used to take a different…
  • If the amount that a person sweat determined how much they weighed or would lose...I wouldn't be obese I'd be healthy...just saying. I'm a sweater - always have been no matter my weight. My husband (who is just slightly over a normal weight) doesn't sweat like me and looks at me like I'm weird. There's a shirt I want to…
  • Don't compare yourself to others. I'm obese and I know a lot of people in the same boat as me who would be at their goal weight by now. It's been almost 3 years and I've only lost like 30 pounds. Before, thinking about this slow of a loss would have me crying and feeling like I wanted to give up. After having my son (who's…
