  • Me too, should probably try and lose more before we start but just want to try and would love a bit of support.
  • I have a meal replacment shake for breakfast, mostly because it helps me stay at a calorie defecit without much effort. I find it really helpful but make sure the one you have isn't too sugary, lots of them have just as manay calories as a "proper" meal so aren't as helpful when eating at a deficit. Log it as well as…
  • OMG just looked at the NROLFW forum - there are so many questions, the book has not yet arrived but it looks complicated. I think I will use the book to check my form but hold off complicated work out for now. I want work my body not my brain at the gym!
  • Thanks again. I'm hopeful that I can improve my strength with stronglifts, aiming to do a little cardio on top while I can. Will have to see how the recovery goes. I have a lot to loose so I should be able to run off the stores a bit! I have ordered some 1.25kg plates as they don't have them in the gym and I know I won't…
  • Thank you for the summary, with this and the app I have bullied my husband into actually starting 5x5 with me. The origional website could still do with getting more female friendly though :disappointed:
  • Thanks everyone, just as an update I have ordered nrolfw but started stronglifts today. If I think it's going well and I'm going to stick with it then I will get starting strength too - bit more expensive.
  • Care to elaborate?
  • don't know if anyone will see this but I had a major slip during honeymoon/travelling and am now back on the wagon and trying to lose again, wondering how everyone else is doing this long after the big day?
  • I tried but found it was not sustainable for me, I do know people who have done well and maintain a weekly fast as part of a healthy diet. I founf I used fasting as an excuse to eat badly on other days, normally I try and just keep control of my calories now - it's taking longer to get there but it seems easier to me in…
  • Long day at work so.. Just for today I will Finish 2 litres of water Eat my planned lunch and not buy sandwiches Resist the chocolate biscuits at reception Try and move between appointments even if I just stand up and sit down again
  • I think a group sounds really good, sometimes I struggle to make time at home though and I would be worried that making it to a group would just add more stress to life.
  • It's also worth persisting with some things that you don't really like but that would make life a lot easier - lettuce for example. If you have it enough times in reasonably quick succession (not just trying it every 6 months or so) you do become much more tolerant and even start to enjoy it. I don't really like tomatoes…
  • I'm in the same boat, fallen off the wagon but I'm back on it and refuse to get discouraged.

  • I'm in Dorset and happy to have a few more MFPs in the same time zone. Lost 50kg a few years ago, maintained for a bit but have gained back 35kg. Looking to lose 15 at first and then reassess.
  • 1. To regain the control and stop blaming circumstances for my weight 2. To stop spending money on clothes which only fit for a short while and are unwearable the following summer/winter 3. So that people at work judge me less 4. because I want to get pregnant at some point and losing weight should make it easier/healthier…
  • It's a free app but it might only be in the UK. I started off by reading Mindfulness: A practical guide to finding peace in a frantic world eBook: Prof Mark Williams, Dr Danny Penman which has guided meditations. I haven't tried proper mindful eating as yet - mostly working on having meals not in front of the TV (baby…
  • Just for today: 1. I will not let having a day off work mean I do nothing all day 2. I will log everything even if I slip 3. I will continue mindfulness meditation and stop getting annoyed about my slips but focus on the future and positives.
  • I completely agree, if I start thinking about the total amount I want to lose or the level of fitness I had and want to have again it gets a little depressing, and then I give up, just for today/this meal/this one decision not to eat the biscuit feels far more achievable.
  • Hi there, I've been here before but now have 37 pounds to lose to get back from 222 to an "overweight" rather then obese BMI. I'd like to lose more but want to try and maintain at a slightly higher rate, an attempt to break the losing and gaining cycle.
  • I'm also back on track having maintained well for a year then piled back on most of the weight again. Determined to stay on track this time, staying positive with support!
  • You guys don't get it...chunks is my dog.
  • I too am back after a hiatus. Lost weight, got married, looked and felt great, went travelling and ate all of the food! Back in the country and I continued to make excuses but I'm now back and motivated and looking to make the changes stick. Happy to have more friends for support and to keep the motivation going.
  • I really want a nap but it's frowned upon at work. Boo! :'(
  • starting simple -log in everyday -do not avoid weighing myself or logging just because I have had a bad day, that leads to a bad week/month/year
  • I have lost weight before but have managed to slip back to (almost) my starting weight, I love pilates and used to really enjoy body pump but need to start a bit more gently this time as I have hurt my back (stops me exercising, makes me sad and want to eat - not very helpful). Would love a bit of mutual support.
  • I am having a freak out, our wedding is 7th September. I am just recovering from knee surgery, without being able to exercise I have managed to gain about 7pounds so instead of having only a couple of ponds to lose I am have 35 days to lose 13 pounds and cannot run/jump/squat! AAaaarrrgh!
  • I am keen on measurements - after all that's how I'm gonna know if I will get into my dress. I want to tone my arms, I also need to make sure my waist and mid section is looking ok, wont be on show on the day but we have a honeymoon after that I wanna look sizzling hot for! I have been lacking in motivation recently but…
  • Mine is going for a grey lounge suit with black waistcoat (vest) white shirt and a black bow-tie, groomsmen have the same suit but different waistcoats and awesome bow ties which are black at the front and purple at the back. He didn't want a morning suit but still wanted to look like he put an effort in, he looks awesome…
  • Hi there, we are getting married on September 7th by the seaside, Easter and going to France for a wine run really ruined my weight loss. I have decided to start 5:2 in an attempt to lose inches and kilos! Has anyone else been doing the same? I only started last week, lost 2kg in my first week and didn't gain it back after…
