So over Sat & Sun you eat an extra (3500*5=17,500) calories above your maintenance goal? What are you doing, drinking shots of olive oil while snacking on butter?

Will this put you at a calorie deficit for the week? Is yes, then you will lose weight. If not, then no, you will not lose weight. If you burn 2000cals/day, and your daily intake goal is 1500cals, then you are at a 500cal deficit. Over a week that would be a 3500cal deficit. Done the other way your weekly burn goal would…

Just started this morning for me. And the linking/unlinking... Sent Bodymedia a message http://www.bodymedia.com/support/contact.html

Posted a couple of times over in the feed back area. If there is a place to email them about this type of stuff I have yet to find it, as all I found was info on how to contact them for press and business stuff.

It might make more sense to go for a body fat percentage, as your real goal is to lose fat, right? Think of it this way, if you have two people who are the same height and weigh the same, which would you rather look like the one with 35% body fat, or the one with 25% body fat? Using your numbers (148lbs), one has around…

Look into BodyMedia. It does a great job of tracking your activity all day long, and is not just a fancy pedometer. Not that a HRM is a pedometer. The chart in my weight loss tracker is what a normal day for me looks like in calories burned per minute. Flat is either me sleeping, or my other main occupation, sitting.…

I had posted similar things over there multiple times over the last couple of months. Never got any responses. Decided to see if maybe I could get some action by bring it up in the main area, as they actually seem to have a Mod over here who might see it and say something. Now originally I was expecting to see lots of…

Thank you for this most useless of comments.

And now there seems to be a lot fewer entries under walking, and they seem to be fixed.

I have a pack of cream of wheat, and 2 random packs of oatmeal for breakfast most workdays. Thickens it all up.

Please, provide me a link to a scientific study on that "Sugar turns directly to fat" concept. I would love to read it because it goes against everything nutritionist currently know about the human body.

A quart of water is 2.09lbs. A gallon of water is 8.35lbs. A liter of water is 1kg (2.2lbs) 5 liters of water is 5kg (11lbs) I get that 8-11lbs might be heavy for some people... But if you are aiming to add muscle, find a weight you struggle to use 12 times, rest 60 seconds, and do it again, rest, and again. When you can…

Someone your size, weight, age, has a BMR of 1684 Spending 45min on the stairs will burn you around 490cals So now we are at 2174 cals per day...and all we have covers is keeping you body alive and spending 45 minutes on the stair machine. If you are working out every single day, and living a normal life, your TDEE (Total…

I care far more about the big picture than the daily. I aim for a monthly average, as I see it as more realistic to how we live. And given that I hit the gym late at night, and should be trying to give my body materials to repair itself with after...well, I am not going to eat that 500 cals between 10:30pm and when I wake…

No, it is bad. Your daily goal is 1590....you want to get close to that number. It already has the deficit built into it. By eating 1200-1300 that means you are increasing the size of your deficit. So, if you picked that you want to lose 1lb/week, MFP calulates how many cals you burn each day (2090), minuses 500 from that,…

1) Checkout a website called Fitocracy.com. It is like MFP, but for working out, plus they gameify it (You get points, level up, badges for doing stuff). Tons of groups you can join, just pick an interest. And lots of folks willing to help guide you. 2) What the others said about youtube, strong lifts, starting strength,…

Given that you posted your second post at 2:08, and he posted his at 2:09, odds are your 2nd post didn't yet exist when he loaded the page and read your first post and responded.

But it is a legit question. How can someone who says they can't eat enough calories to reach their new goal that is a deficit, ever manage to take in enough calories to pack on enough fat to be on this site trying to lose weight? Why do we see this topic pretty much every single day, week after week, month after month,…

Jar of peanut butter, loaf of bread. They do not have to be kept in a refrigerator. They do not need a kitchen or stove to cook them. They are cheap. They are a ton of calories. They are there when you need them. But then, I cooked steaks and scrambled eggs using a 6' strip of tin foil and the sun on a high school parking…

Speed bump on the journey. Nothing more. Now, look at your 90 day history....how many days are you under your goal? How many of those unders will it take to make up for this one over? And remember, you already have a deficit (Assuming you are trying to lose weight) built in. So if your goal is 1700, losing 1lb per week…

Think of BMR as your body at an idle. Still burning fuel, but not going anywhere. You start getting below that amount of fuel coming in and the body has a hard time running. TDEE is all the fuel your body burns idling, plus the fuel it burns once you put your foot on the accelerator (gas pedal).

Normal black coffee is 1-2cals per 8oz. Really, it is. If you are getting more oil off your beans then this, something is wrong with your system. Espresso is 1cal per 8oz. Instant coffee is 5cals per 8oz. (Most coffee houses use double shot glasses. A double shot of espresso is 1.2-2.0oz...and most drinks get 2 double…

I'd go with sedentary, and be sure to track all the stuff you do that is non-normal. If you go out for a multiple hour long shopping trip, odds are that you are going to be more active than your normal work day. If you spend an hour working in the yard (And normally don't) it is more activity than sitting at a desk. I stay…

Sounds to me like you want to stay around the weight you are, and firm up. Right? So, eat around maintenance to 250 cal deficit, keep up with working out, doing a combo of HIIT & lifting some weights that actually push your muscles (This doesn't mean the weights have to be heavy, just that you have to having a hard time…

If your friend keeps saying they don't rent movies from RedBox because their CD player is broke, is it wrong to inform them that the item they mean is a DVD player?

Not mass... What you mean is density (Density = mass/volume)

And is an amazing thing to see happen, says the guy who likes to see such things.

Because I like to be scientific: Human body fat: 0.918 grams per cubic centimeter Human muscle: 1.049 grams per cubic centimeter Water (@4c): 1.000 grams per cubic centimeter Water (@20c): 0.998 grams per cubic centimeter This would be why fat floats to the top of the water, and muscle does not. For fun take the amount of…

If you add worcestershire sauce to them before cooking they will come out grey. The improvement for me was the kids wouldn't eat them, so I got more. And they tasted good.

Hello, and welcome. When you say you weight trained, what do you mean? Meanwhile, as long as intake calories is lower than the number of calories burned, you will lose weight. Does not matter if that deficit comes from eating less or moving more, or a combo of the two. Work on accurately tracking those calories coming in.…
