la la la.... :glasses: i ran 5 k after all. gorgeous day. breezy. overcast after a huge storm with the promise of more to come. 5k with an umbrella in tow ..lol. Tried to get my pace up but really rolly terrain made it more of an 'interval' situation. My fav part of mfp so far is that i used to worry that i didn't 'look…

I'm the same - i cannot handle the heat! My skin and lungs equally revolt in the sun. On hot days I pick routes with pockets of shade, so that even if I leave the shade for a while, I know in like another km I'll be back in the shade for a while. Riverside runs or trails for example. The humidity I've gotten a little more…

Breakfast is for sure my favourite meal of the day. I get up every morning and pretty much skip to my kitchen. That being said, I love the 'classic' breakfasts. Also, I eat the same thing pretty much every day for maybe 3 mts at a time, and then switch to something new. Here are some of the fad breakfasts that…

Hello running types!! Great updates - good job on carving time off your runs, and just getting out there in general. As for me, I woke up to the sound of pouring rain. Two hours later and it has yet to give up. Looks like a morning run is not in the card! And i'm going to bluesfest tonight so I don't see a night run…

Hey all!! Hard for me to update lately - am out of town atm but am happy to hear everyone's updates. Celebrated Canada day in Ottawa yesterday and managed to fit in a cool 8 k run in the morning! The day before that was a 7 k run. I've broken my 5 k mental barrier, so am happy to be running further. The next thing is going…

I love how I always close this thread for the day with my ridiculously late runs (and slowly getting ridiculously later... Today I got back at 10) Anyway, I'm moving off my comfy 5 k runs and am now up to 7 k. Just over 7 k for me today, but i want to try to get the pace up. I'm little -- 5'2" - i don't know if that counts…

Nicely done! Way to rake in those miles!

Hihi! Definitely sounds like shin splints! I used to get them along the front of my lower leg but it sort of went away. More recently i started to get this strange pain along the insides of my lower legs - sort of running alongside my calf. I went to see a dr and low and behold - same thing. Still shin splints, different…

yeeee! not silly at all. Congrats.

Hi hi! I usually run at night, but tried to start running in the mornings. It was hard though, and I usually just end up running at night anyway. Why do so many of you run in the mornings? Is this a convenience thing? Or are there health benefits? Or is it simply a weather thing? I'm curious if i should make more of an…

Not an amazing day but I had crispers for dinner and it made running ROUGH. ha hahaha crispers for dinner. I'm a real winner. 4k + 6 k speed walk. Let it be known: Crispers for dinner makes for a shaky run.

Hello fellow runners! I'm back from a 3 day vacation out of town. Spent the weekend with friends, at the beach, touring around the city and not running. I'm excited to go for a 5 k run tonight after work! Yee! I'm gonna hit the trails and soak up the Monday night lull (sans music -- my ipod has gone missing. oy...) Have…

Hey everyone! Happy Friday! Hope the runs have gone well! As for me, i am out of town visiting some friends, borrowing couches for the weekend. I brought some gear to run with, but havent found time to go run. I don't think it's going to happen but i figured if there's any down time, it would be a nice to have some shoes…

Nice! I'm impressed. I'm looking forward to the day when an 8 mi run is a typical morning. Congratssss

Nice! Way to go! Humidity is the worst. And I agree; I definately have MFP to thank for some running motivation. (Thanks MFP!!!) all the best

I finally hit the pavement early this morning -- 5 K first thing after I woke up (after some carrot/passionfruit juice that is). I like this 'running in the morning' thing. Thankfully there was a nice cool breeze to welcome me into the morning running world! Good luck today running club friends!

I decided to replace my normal 8-9pm running routine with a bike ride along all my city's ravines. At first, i was getting sick pleasure riding past all the runners. Suddenly the trail abruptly stops - it was dug up for about a km with construction. So i did a little off-road, no biggie. I get past through, and am faced…

I think a training program is a great idea! It might be a casual run, but it's all about building blocks right? Speed, stride, form, pacing, etc It'll be 'food for thought' at the very least. I've looked into training programs before but never signed up. Can't wait to hear how it goes.

Woooowwwww! I'm so impressed with everyone who can drag there bums out of the house in the mornings to run! Kudos! I miss early mornings. It's been months since I've seen what the world looks at 6 or 7 am, but tomorrow is the day! (The time on this post says 7:50 am but thems be lies! it's already 11 am here) Tonight I…

I can relate - I've learned so much from MFP. Just the fact that it's there, that I can check-in with myself very casually... it's a stress-free process most days. I can't say i'm at a place where my relationship with food is well regulated, but I'm getting there! Thanks for the reply   Definitely…

Thanks for the reply :) Jogging is also my new favourite thing! It's become a staple. It grounds me, it gives me time to think and breathe. Good for you. Congrats on "every little step" and all the best as you keep up the journey!!

i love that there's a running club on mfp! I'm in :) I started running in February, and 2k slowly turned into 5 k. So i've had some time off lately and have been running 5 k about 3-4 times a week, and then something crrrrazy happened. I decided to do a relaxing run instead of my normal 5 k pace - to just have fun running…

Hi hi! I was just thinking about how happy i was that i've started thinking more about eating well and becoming active, and I want to hear what changes you've made that you're proud of! I feel like i so seldom congratulate myself on taking positive steps for my overall health, and I think it'd be great to share and hear…

Hi all! Hope you're well. My name is kat, and i'm a running addict. I bought a pedometer, and in a quest to properly calibrate it i stumbled upon this little gem: www.mapmyrun.com . Some of you have probably already found this site and others like it, but I was floored to find something so comprehensive. It fills all my…

Kudos on the big changes! I wish you well. Do you camp? Sometimes taking a little vacation (even if it's only an hour out of town for some hiking) helps me to reframe and come back with some fresh perspective. I prefer to go with friends when i can, but sometimes it's enough to grab my bike or a camera and have my own…
