I appreciate that you have a desk job, but if you're walking to and from work everyday and move a lot on weekends, as well as your workouts, maybe you're underestimating your activity level? If you're not planning to eat back your extra exercise calories it might be worth raising your activty level anyway. As with anything…

What about adding some soda water to the beer? (We call it Shandy in the UK, but not sure about elsewhere in the world!) Generally the amount you add is a matter of taste, but I usually aim for a roughly 50-50 mix of beer and soda water which means my beer lasts twice as long for the same number of calories!

I'm a definite E! It's much nicer, tastier and healthier than takeaway - and in fact is closer to the 'real thing' that they eat in China anyway! There's loads of recipes available either in books or online, but you can't go wrong with a stir fry (with or without meat) and rice or noodles. For a sauce I sometimes cheat and…

Hi Sam, I'm also from the UK - I started at 267lbs (19stone 1lb) and have so far lost 45lbs (over 3 stone). I'll send you a friend request, it's nice to have people on your news feed who have similar long term goals! Lisa x

There was actually a Hello Healthy blog post about BBQ's the other day: https://blog.myfitnesspal.com/2014/06/best-choices-at-backyard-bbq/ It's times like this that we have to remember: this is not a diet, but a lifestyle change and these sorts of events will happen (and they will usually happen together!) It's been said…

Sounds good to me too! I'd like to join in. Lisa x

What about Ratatouille? You can find various recipes online, but the basic principle is whatever veggies you have on hand and some tinned tomatos - simmer until cooked! Most people add a bit of garlic, but my sister adds a little chilli as well for a kick! I make big batches (especially when i have vegetables to use up)…

There's lots of factors for clothes size, so it's not a simple answer! I'm 5ft 6 and at 16 stone 13 I was a size 20. I'm current 15 stone 10 and a size 18. When I was last a size 16 (quite a few years ago) I was about 14 st 13 or 15 st. Being taller than me these figures will be different for you, and quite possibly as I…

I've lost 44 lb and still when I look in the mirror I can't really see it - because I look most days if not everyday and you don't spot small regular changes that way! Logically I know I've lost weight in that area (I'm down two trousers sizes!) but seeing it in the mirror is difficult! Find a picture of yourself from…

I had a hard time getting motivated after I hit my heaviest weight ever - I managed to loose 7lbs (half a stone) but it took me months of going up and down. I volunteered to be a guinea pig for some colleagues at work who had done a coaching course and wanted to practice and the main question she asked that got to me was:…

It's not a dumb question - it's just taken me five minutes to work out where it is to tell you!! Along the top (blue) bar on the website select 'Apps' - then in the sub menu you will see 'Tickers' - you can customise it from there and set it to automatically display on your forum posts. Lisa x

We all have moments like that - it might one day, or a week or a few months - I generally find it's best not to beat yourself up about it, just take a deep breath and shake it off, then start fresh. If you need any help you know where I am! Lisa x

Hi, I started at 267 lbs as well, and I'm currently eating at 1500 cals a day (plus exercise calories). I found getting started was about making a few small changes - add extra veggies to your meals to fill you up without adding too many extra calories and cut down on portion sizes. Weighing your food helps too, it's…

Don't be afraid to look like an idiot when asking questions! Just remember: the only stupid question is the one that goes unasked! As someone who works in customer service (albeit in a library not a gym) people asking 'stupid questions' are my bread and butter! I don't think they're stupid/an idiot for asking it, because I…

I'll send you a friend request now - we've got similar amounts of weight to loose - and I don't read most people's diary entries anyway! If you've got over 100lbs to lose there's quite a few groups in the community section where you can find support and/or friends Lisa x

bump These are some fantastic quotes but I can't think of one right now to contribute, sorry!

I tend to just throw various chopped root vegetables in the pot and boil it up! Carrots, Swede/turnip, potatoes, parsnip, a few leeks or onions and maybe a vegetable stock cube if you think it needs it. I like to leave it chunky, but you could easily blend it if you wanted. Depending on if I have a glut of vegetables…

Hi, I'm Lisa, from Shropshire - I've lost 35lbs, out of 105+ - I'll send you a request, it's very helpful to have friends who have similar long term goals! There are also a few groups of people with 100+ lbs to loose - a quick scan in the groups section will pull up quite a few! Lisa x

My dad has a cheats white sauce that doesn't use fat: boil 1 pint of milk in the microwave (takes about 2 minutes depending on the wattage and how cold your milk is to start!) Mix 1 tablespoon of corn flour into a bit of cold milk until smooth and then add this to the hot milk. Heat in the microwave in short bursts…

^This! But also Room 1408 - It's not my usual type of film, but I saw it in the cinema with a friend and LOVED it! A few months later we rented it on DVD for a night in and they'd changed the ending! It ruined the film for me! The 'proper' ending wasn't even included as a special feature on the DVD!

I usually have a cereal bar (I found one I like for 148 cals which I can fit in easily enough), but sometimes I have an apple instead.
