Hi! Congrats! It's a start in the right direction, at least! Ultimately, this means nothing. To lose weight, it's a matter of ensuring that your calories in are less than your calories out. Don't neurotically cling to a single macronutrient, thinking it's going to help your cause. If anything, you'll have less energy, less…

I dunno, I've seen some pretty freakin' dense cheesecake before.

I'm inclined to believe the above statement, but what they hey, I'll feed the troll just because it's a slow work day. I'm seeing a lot of preaching about tofu - the only caveat/point of consideration is that with "formed" (read: processed) food is that it inevitably lends itself to all sorts of questionable additives in…

So, let me get this straight: I can easily lose even more weight just by moving to a locale below sea level; conversely, eating on a plane is a sure-fire recipe for obesity.

For me, it's other drivers. Period. They can do no right by me at all. Doesn't matter what they're doing.

In my experience, it's ever-changing. For me, it was 225. Then 200. I'm now at 190, and I feel pretty good about myself; but I'm now working out out a lot, and will likely end up back at 200 again.

Tub of Toll House Brownie Batter or Cookie Dough ice cream. Eat whole thing in one sitting.

Exercise. Expending more energy than you consume in calories. Speaking as someone who, on his weight-loss journey, spent hundreds on completely unnecessary supplements (fat burners, endothermic metabolism boosters, etc.), they're total crap. I promise. If you really do want something that'll help your weight-loss journey…

I got rid of my scale a while back - best decision I ever made. I rarely even bother weighing myself anymore, now that I'm about where I want to be. I agree that weighing yourself daily is an unhealthy habit that is going to bear false promise on some days, and completely discourage you on others (your body weight is going…

Good one.

Carbs alone will not gain you weight. As mentioned in countless stickies on here, a caloric surplus will. I lost over 100lbs on a diet which exceeded 400g of carbs a day.
-
Are you happy with where you are? Your happiness with your image is something that comes from the inside outward, not the other way around.
-
Feel free to add me, anyone.

1. Carbs aren't the enemy. Your muscle gains are really going to suffer without them. 2. Jumping from one workout routine to another (fitness ADD) isn't going to help. Pick one, and just stick with it. Focus on making it YOUR routine, and concern yourself with the fundamentals, such as progressive overload, good form, and…

Once or twice - and then I realized I was just doing curls in front of the mirror.

If you're with someone who can't abide by your desire to improve yourself, and wants to put his own selfish stake at the forefront of that, you've got problems.

I can't really say anything that hasn't already been said, so I'll just quickly summarize: Exercising for your health and wellness is first; aesthetics are secondary. It's none of their business. The gym is third, only to religion and parenting, for unsolicited criticism and opinions.

I've reached the point where I know what works for me and what doesn't, generally speaking. I weigh myself once a month, at most (haven't really fluctuated much in about 6 months). Even at my most frequent, I couldn't weigh myself more than once a week or so without feeling like I was getting absolutely neurotic about my…

20-minute, 8-mile bike ride, followed by 45 minutes of weightlifting.

This is probably one of the best introductions I've read.

Why not?

I rarely find drinking my calories to be satisfying - be it smoothies, juices, or shakes. I only tend to do it to meet my calories for the day during bulk/recomp cycles, because eating that many calories in food is almost impossible for me.
-
I miss The Learning Channel - TLC has become a modern-day circus sideshow. It's ridiculous.
-
Recomps which integrate calorie/carb cycling can certainly achieve this, although you'd be looking at fat loss over a greater amount of time than a traditional bulk/cut routine. I've been doing a +20/-30 recomp cycle for the last two months, and have consistently upped my PRs while steadily (albeit slowly) losing BF. I'm…

I've got one! People that go to the gym, and rather than focusing on improving themselves and what they're doing, focus on what other people do so that they can go home and type with furious indignation about it on their blog/forum of choice.

I eat ~400g a day. Haha.
-
Add me. :)

I can kind of understand why someone would want to lose muscle mass, ie. an athlete that feels that they're "too bulky" to perform agilely and adeptly at their given sport. That having been said, I've never heard tell of someone wanting less muscle mass solely for aesthetics.
-
Totally.

Yep.
