Oatmeal and yogourt, a large banana, two pancakes, two eggs, and three pieces of back bacon.

Could you elaborate? Also, AnvilHead is totally right. According to BIA, I was 21% BF at my leanest, whereas callipers had me sitting at around 9%. I wouldn't trust BIA any more than comparing my physique in the mirror with Google search results.

35 here, and a former fatass. Feel free to add me.

It's not easy, that's for sure. I still struggle with feeling like I look like the guy on the left in my photo.

Wine gums or Triscuits. I will eat as many of either as there are in front of me. (Literally. A buddy once bought me the 1KG bag of wine gums from Costco as a joke for my birthday, and ended up both horrified and impressed when I ate them all in that sitting.)

You can lose "weight" on a keto diet, yes - but to either believe or claim that it's a magical panacea of "lose only fat while doing nothing!" is a fool's errand. Caveat: I'm not a keto dieter, simply because it's not for me. That being said, any keto-er I've known who's been serious about health and fitness will tell you…

I spent the better part of a year chasing the dream of "gaining muscle and losing fat at the same time", and wasted more money than I'd care to admit to on junk fat-burning supplements while jumping from workout to workout from "experts" on Bodybuilding.com and other such sites, before giving it up as a fool's errand.…

The problem really begins and ends with this statement. I was able to drop my first 50 pounds easily by doing nothing but cardio. Then, the returns began to diminish, even as I upped my cardio to 45 minutes, then an hour, then 90 minutes, then a full two hours a day. It wasn't until I reintroduced serious weight training…

Back when I was the guy on the left in my photo, I dreamed of looking like the guy on the right. To this day, there are still occasions when I look in the mirror and see the guy on the left staring back at me.
-
The left is me in October of 2014 (I was about six months in, and that was the first shirtless photo I could stand to take). On the right is me as of last November after my last cut cycle.

We've got a dude at the gym who likes to make "reservations" by putting his belongings around or on the equipment. This morning, he left a towel hanging over the barbell in the squat rack; a water bottle on the bench at the bench press station; meanwhile, he was over at the dumbbell rack doing curls.

I ignore it for two reasons: a) I'm not a dog. I don't "earn" calories like treats. b) MFP's calculations are frequently inaccurate at best. I can guarantee a 30-minute 5K does not burn 400 calories.

Agreed. It's highly unlikely to give long-term results, and I've seen it wreak havoc on people in the short term. People will go to insanely unhealthy lengths to try and profit from the monetization of weight loss.

45-60 minutes, five days a week.

If it's too restrictive, then don't do it. There's a reason for the old saying, "The best diet is the one you can stick to." I'm not even sure when all the carb-hate became such a thing. Carbs are the new fat, I guess.
-
I think keto/low-carb is mostly bunk. Seems to be a very unpopular opinion these days.
-
No more than a couple of hours a week. Far too much scientific literature out there regarding the ironic health risks associated with excessive cardiovascular training.

Be careful. Many multivitamins out there on the market are, frankly, crap. They're full of commonly-occurring vitamins and minerals which most people with a somewhat decent diet are already consuming enough of. Personally, I take ADAM by NOW Foods. https://examine.com is a great unbiased and third-party source for reviews…

No. I need someone I'm faster than, and I'm not so sure he fits that description.

Likewise. I've actually lost friends during my journey, and a lot of support has turned to criticism. I've had people tell me I look underweight, and my mother "helpfully" makes a point of asking me, every time I see her, if I'm eating enough. I'm still ~185lbs, and I hover around 10% BF. I know there's nothing wrong with…

As someone who was a part of the 300+ club, I can't stress enough how beneficial it was just to start with a walk every day, and basic resistance (weight) training.

I do try to keep some degree of sanity around what I eat, since I would like to actually get nutritional value from what I'm consuming...but that said, I have 4 Oreo cookies every afternoon, I ate a full bag of Doritos last night just because I felt like it, and tonight I'm going out for burgers, fries, and beer with some…

This x1000. I've been told that I come off as being rude for this exact reason. Saying hello or giving a wave is one thing, but I'm a busy guy, and I'm at the gym to do one thing...and it's not to chat with you at the water fountain. Sorry.

Look up reverse dieting. Basically, it's a gradual increase in calories to allow your metabolism to properly adapt. It's how I move from 1950 calories/day (cutting calories) to 2500 calories/day (maintenance calories) with little to no weight gain (generally .5 to 1 pound at most). Far too many people try to just increase…

This is so true. One of the very first (and most disastrous) weight-loss mistakes I see is people trying to drink their calories via sugar-heavy smoothies and ridiculously overpriced shakes which promise to "cleanse" the fat right out of them. Start with real, actual food. For the first while, it can really be whatever, as…

At the very least, I'd swap the amount of cardio and the amount of weight training you're doing. Lengthy cardio sessions aren't going to do you any major favours. Additionally, as has been said several times in this thread, you need to get a food scale, or, at the very least, be conservative and honest with your portions,…
