This is an on-going debate. But the latest nutritionist recommendation from MFP no less is that you do not have to eat back all your exercise calories unless you are a hard-core body builder (lifting for 3-4+ hrs a day) or a professional athlete. The rest of us 'regular folks' are just fine without it. :D Personally I have…

From all the long term maintainers I have spoken with (and my own experience) the whole 2 lbs per wk will not be an issue the closer you get to your goal. In the first month I lost 10 lbs right off the bat, then it settled to be more like 1-2ish per. It will naturally & gradually slow down ... sometimes to a crawl the…

It REALLY just depends on the person, their relationship with food, & lifestyle. Some people can really thrive on smaller meals throughout the day. They tend to be your grazers ... eats constantly & are just unable to consume a lot of food at one sitting. While others prefers to have defined times to eat. On one of my…

Sports bra is neither flattering or all that comfy. As another poster mentioned, the intent for the sports bra is to flatten or compress the girls in place to minimize tearing of the muscles when they bounce without support. It is essentially the opposite of what a proper bra does ... which is to lift & define. Sports bras…

My normal flux is really negligible 1-2 lbs +/- of 95 & I weigh myself only about once or twice a month nowadays. Therefore if there's no significant change (flux above the norm) I don't even log it any more. lol

+1 I worry about that all the time as well about tweaking cardio duration but it can definitely be made up else where. Good luck! P.S. Congrats OP on the weight loss! :D

I suppose it depends greatly on the amount of weight that's lost. I lost near 40 lbs over a year or so and all my ink is fine. (Back, ankles, calves).

Hello & Welcome to MFP! I think you may benefit from some self-education to retrain your brain & your relationship with food beyond just for an upcoming event. Here are some suggestions: 80/20 Tips for Keeping the Weight Off for Good Brain on Junk Vicious Cycle of Junk Food Best of luck to you!

While your physician may lack tact she is among the few I've heard who actually is bold enough to bring up weight with patients (because it is such a sensitive subject) so kudos to her but not her lack of bedside manner. In regards to losing weight, as others have mentioned, don't be sadden by the rather unprofessional…

Im at 522 streak here - haven't missed a day since I started & have no plans to. :D Some can re-learn the ability to be fairly accurate at eyeballing portion size & can eventually ween themselves off of MFP & maintain. Some can't, tries, & returns in the GETTING STARTED or INTRO sections with 'back again' or 'starting…

I was SO out of shape in the beginning I started with simply walking on a treadmill at an incline for 5 minutes twice a week. My mind set was anyone can do anything for 5 minutes twice a week. Once the regular frequency of doing something became a part of my routine, I incrementally increased the duration of the cardio &…

Ck your carb levels.

Congrats! MFP strictly calculates calories allotment based on height & current weight. Since you are fun size like me, yea that's it. But for me (4'10") I have no difficulties maintaining at lower calories - I'm really comfortable & it has been an effortless maintaining for 18+ mos. However, there are a few in maintaining…

Counting calories is good but you have to make sure that those calories are nutritiously rich. If you find yourself hungry more often, adjust WHAT you are eating not the quantity. Foods high in fiber & lean proteins will make you feel fuller longer. See sample list HERE The light headed sounds like you may need some carbs…

An excellent idea!

MFP has truly been the key to my success of losing 38ish lbs and keeping it off for 18+ mos now. I can't say enough good things about it. Some people really sees logging everyday & weighing their foods as an incredible burden and stop using MFP the minute they reach goal to only return to start from scratch. I think it is…

You're hilarious & I really appreciate your witty candor. :D There's a threat in the maintaining forum titled 'AH=HA' moment and your story sound very similar to many who responded. If you are able to keep up the enthusiasm & determination I think you will do great. Best of luck to you!

Because I fear Diabetes far more than the cold LOL

Yuppers - I am very comfortable maintaining at 1230 -1450ish calories; it was an seamless transition from losing & has been truly effortless to maintain. I'm 4'10" and have been maintaining for 18+ mos. As long as I continue to feel that 1230 -1450ish calories is something that I can carry on with minimum effort I plan to…

+1 Also, THIS makes ZERO sense to me. If something has proven to work and it's NOT a burden but has truly become a seamless part of a daily routing (like automatically putting on a seatbelt when in the car) then WHY "should everyone in maintenance try at one time?" Some can absolutely stop logging & maintain with ease.…

Anyway, for those of you who have maintained for a long period of time...was there a time when it got easier? Was it more about finding a routine, or just getting to the point where you can let go a bit?[/quote] First of all CONGRATS!! For me I think the first 3-6 months into maintaining was the toughest because I felt a…

Once a week - religiously. Always same day (Sunday), same time (first thing in the a.m. after brm), same clothing (gym clothes).

I'm giddy about all the OH folks! :D Would the Cincy vicinity peeps ever want to get together? Virtual support is great but nothing beats face-to-face if at all possible.

Meh ... you say to-MA-to, I say to-MAY-to. Everyone is different and has to find an approach that works for them individually.
