I've read quite a bit that this can be from the wrong shoes. Suggestions have been to find a good running shoe store (a local, not a national chain) and have them do a gait analysis and recommend some shoes. Looking on Yelp, I found multiple shoe stores with raving reviews about cured shin splints.

Yup. I've suffered from that before too. If you kick your workouts up a few notches and totally kick your own *kitten*, you'll find that once per day will be enough. You'll be too tired/sore to think about going a 2nd round.

I think you can. I think one thing you may want to work on is balance and flexibility. Some dance moves are going to move you in ways you are not used to and so a little bit of work on muscles you don't normally use may help. So while Hip Hop Abs and the like don't interest you, if you could stand it at all to use them a…

True story - I've seen 2 scales set up right next to each other be off by 10 pounds. Next time you are at the doctor's office, weigh there and then go back and weigh at home right away or as someone suggested, put something of known weight on the scale and see how it reads.

Agree with the others, she's just not that in to you. If more people would just speak frankly the world would be a better place.

If it is Kale, seems like others agree: http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/eat-your-kale/2012/09/24/95a4d756-018f-11e2-9367-4e1bafb958db_story.html

My local paper has a "watchdog" section where they take on issues that are unfair to consumers. I bet this happens more often then we know... would be a good story for the media to work on. I would think with all the talk about healthcare this year that someone locally would bite on this story. You're a lot more likely to…

If you are logging in to the gym, it uses GPS to confirm you are there for at least 30 minutes, so you don't need to have the phone on you to record activity during your workout. PACT can also apparently use the newer iPhone motion chip to record at-home workouts, but don't know anything more about that because I am…

I have been using PACT for about 2 months. The workouts earn normally about $.40/each but this last week they were worth only $.30/each, most likely because of everyone following their New Year resolutions. I use syncing with Runkeeper and MapMyFitness for most workouts but a couple times have used the gym login too. This…

Costco has a cookies and cream protein powder on sale right now. With milk it is fabulous. 200 something calories though I think - but that includes a good amount of protein.

Yes this! I think I've read somewhere of others that do have one leg shorter than the other. You may ultimately need an orthopedic insert or something to help counter it.

Thirst can also be mistaken for hunger, so make sure you drink before, during and after working out.

I HATE vegetables. I'm also not a huge fan of fruit. I LOVE meat and any kind of bread, cheese or pasta. What I'm started doing is using a NutriBullet to make smoothies/shakes. You can sneak in some veggies without even tasting them. For example, I am doing a smoothie now with protein powder, milk, 2 bananas, chia seeds,…

I was a 1% or skim drinker for a long time but switched to 2% because I need some more fat in my diet.

I log anything over 50 calories. So if I had a single Lifesaver, I'm not going to bother. If you aren't seeing weight loss in several weeks, 50 calories/day isn't going to be the culprit, so that's why I don't bother. Some people log everything, some people measure everything, and others may log only occasionally or only…

Ladies on MFP have also noted that the time of the month can play a big role in weight as well. Keep it up for a couple more weeks and then see what the results are. As others have said, you have only a little bit to lose and that's going to come off far slower than it will off of me.

If you went to a running shoe store and they helped pick out your shoes, I would go back to them first and discuss your concerns and have them watch your gait again and see what they think. Another option would be to go to a 2nd store and ask for a 2nd opinion. Maybe the first person wasn't that great at fitting you...

To me it is similar to brown rice. Easy to flavor with almost anything because the taste isn't strong.

I'd recommend considering a Bluetooth HRM strap and using your smartphone. Mostly because then you have automatic syncing with a ton of fitness apps and lots of realtime info available via the phone. A watch is more convenient to look at, but with all the phone apps the Bluetooth setup is more flexible. I lost my old…

I am not looking at the c25K right now, but does it suggest activity on off days? 40-50 minutes of biking is still a lot of activity and even if it is relatively gentle, it might still be preventing you from recovering fully. I've gotten the walking bug so bad that I'm out every day and I'm finding I can't get much faster…

I'd take the woman standing in front of me in a Victoria's Secret outfit over the VS model or porn star any day. Give me a real girl to wake up next to every day the rest of my life versus some fantasy that will never be.
