I've heard so much about how tough the surgery is, so very happy you did it on your own. You are amazing!

Really impressive accomplishment. Thanks for tip on the consistent logging. Great idea.

I've done both, but am now 100% with MFP. My meetings got so huge that just standing in line to weigh in took half an hour and the leader was letting a few people monopolize the conversation. I feel like I get much more support here and the phone app is just outstanding. Love that you can scan barcodes and import recipes.

You're so young and have your whole life ahead of you -- as a person at a healthy weight. Congrats. That is SO fabulous!

I totally sympathize, b/c I too got "stuck" by fretting wayyyyy too much about food choices. Should I avoid sugar? carbs? alcohol? caffeine? animal proteins? all of the above? I was encouraged here by many friends to eat what I wanted but to maintain a calorie deficit. It's simple, and it works. I think that's a good way…

Wow, congrats to you. The fact that you hung in here even when you gained a little was really smart. You had the method already in place to get back in the saddle. Nice going on your loss and your 1000 days! Incredible.

Funny you should post this b/c I just tried to calculate calories in a menu item for a place I was going today, a really healthy, Cali-style restaurant. I tried to enter ingredient in the recipe builder, which worked pretty well, but the dish, a rice bowl with chicken, veggies and an aioli sauce came out to about 900…

I did it last year and made it seven days, LOL! Have to pass this funny/weird story on. I had headaches for days on this, probably from eliminating caffeine. Just when I thought I was okay with no more sugar cravings, on about day 4, I made stir fried brown rice, veggies and chicken breast for dinner one night. I shook soy…

The Martha Beck books are pretty great, partic The Beck Diet Solution: Train Your Brain to Think Like a Thin Person. You didn't ask about websites, but I am really liking halfsizeme.com and tipsofthescale.com. They both have podcasts of success stories which are very motivating.

That is absolutely amazing. Thanks for sharing your success. Gives lots of people here inspiration and hope.

I needed that too. Reminds me of why I'm here. Fantastic jobs and totally inspirational.

Wow, these are great ideas. I needed inspiration! Going to try the chipotle chicken over the weekend.

I'm an on-again, off-again WW, but right now off. I love the MFP app and use it with my Fitbit Zip. I also love the scanner on the app and scan stuff constantly, including bags of salad greens - LOL! I think MFP is making my counting more meticulous, but it's not really hard with the scanner. One of the problems that…

Congratulations on your success! That's got to be such a great feel. Love reading these stories, very motivational. Thanks for sharing.

I've used the Fitbit Zip for quite awhile now, maybe two years. I find that that model is just fine for me, and that I don't really care about tracking sleeping, steps, etc. I also don't want to wear anything around my wrist all the time. The Zip is the cheapest model, about $55. One thing that's really incredible about…

That's a great loss -- but I understand the frustration. I concur with being meticulous about tracking and definitely getting a scale. I actually like to measure in grams for a lot of stuff, like crackers, because it's more accurate. I use the scanner feature on the app - a lot. Almost everything is scannable. I scanned a…

Truly an inspiration -- look how happy you look, with good reason!

I love the thought, and am interested in cutting down on sugar, but I love just a little bit of something sweet after a meal. Usually it's the Weight Watchers by Whitman's candied (1) or a Miss Meringue cookie. They're both very low in cals. But if you wanted to cut out sugar how would you do it? Would you track the number…

I'm a Fitbit Zip person and it's definitely helped me be more conscious of how much I'm sitting. I work at home and just sit, sit, sit. One thing that helps me is setting a timer on my phone to go off every 50 mins to 1 hour. When that happens, I try to get up and put 1,000 steps on the Zip. Do that faithfully during the…

Totally second the never give up tip! Even if you're not making huge amounts of progress if you're checking in somewhere, like here, or even thinking about checking in somewhere (LOL) you're at least semi-conscious of your goals and aspirations. I gave up in 2013 (in my case that meant quitting Weight Watchers) and…

Really happy with my Fitbit Zip. Pretty cheap ($60 when last I checked). I had the Fitbit One but all the bells and whistles just didn't end up mattering to me. I just need to know steps/miles/time. Of course, I lost it, so downgraded to the Zip, but am very happy with it.
