I followed Sara's advice for my guidelines, upped my protein and fat intakes and slightly lowered my carb intake goals, and that seemed to jump start my weight loss and strength gains in a big way. Thanks again, Sara! :) I'm not strictly a vegetarian, as I do eat some fish, but I mostly follow a vegetarian lifestyle. I get…

Vibram 5 Fingers has various running shoes for different surfaces. I have these and I absolutely love them. They are designed for rough terrain, such as sharp rocks and gravel and whatnot. They give me the flexibility and balance of bare feet, with the tough protection of shoes. I can't say enough good about them. I just…

I very much doubt it. I hope they just continue to get their money from ads.

My MFP net goal is set at 1,390, so about 1,400. I eat back a lot of my exercise calories. I work more toward a weekly goal, than trying to stay perfect every day. I am always under my weekly goal for net calories and my macros balances are usually pretty close to what I set for my goals, as well. :) I eat…

"New GM organisms could be patented so that life itself could become commercial property." And THIS is exactly what has been happening! This argument alone is enough for me. However, unfortunately, this argument does not have to stand on its own. There are too many other good reasons to avoid GMO produce, including the…

LOL Sadly too familiar around these parts, and from what I read and see, everywhere around the world. There are lots of small farmers who've been shut down by Monsanto, because their crops were found to have contained GMO strains. It is just a travesty that the courts allow Monsanto to get away with these tactics. Their…

Since everybody here is always asking for "the science", I'd recommend that you give Dr. Vandana Shiva some of your attention. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vi1FTCzDSck http://www.vandanashiva.org/ She is a quantum theory physicist who changed her direction to focus on fighting against Monsanto and other entities like…

I agree with this. My weight and fitness issues always happen when I've no real balance in my life...mostly, when I'm too overworked, in my job, to give attention to my own personal needs for exercise, the outdoor recreational activities I love, and preparation of the healthy foods I prefer. Once I heed my own requirements…

I switched to Greek yogurt, for the higher protein content, but am finding it difficult to find full-fat, organic, plain Greek yogurt. Best I've been able to find is "Low Fat". I then add my own berries or other fruit and usually some hemp seeds as well. :) Yummy!

It does matter, if you're a diabetic. Diabetics benefit from eating smaller amounts more often. I don't believe it benefits weight or fat loss, I just prefer to graze.

If that was true, I wouldn't have been able to lower my BF% so dramatically, and I wouldn't have lost the 43 pounds I've lost since Jan. this year. I eat constantly!

I just can't buy into that these produce any results other than padding somebody else's wallet and making the wearer lose some water weight in the region the belt was worn in. Color me skeptical. :D

In my experience, whenever I've eaten a lot of avocados, which is whenever I can get my greedy hands on ripe ones, they help me to stay satisfied for long periods of time and lose weight. I can easily eat one or two a day. :D Yum!

Exactly! Experiment with different leafy green/fruit mixtures. I have greatly lessened the fruit I add, since I began green smoothy-ing back in early 2007. The fruit is just for flavor and some sweetness. I don't add any sweetener anymore. I developed such a taste for the greens over the years. The point is getting the raw…

I use Tera'sWhey Grass-Fed, Organic whey mixed with a tad of almond milk for my coffee creamer in the morning...one 15 oz cup o' joe giving me 34 grams of protein to start my day. :) Yummy, luxurious, creamy, goodness! Then, generally on lift days, I whip up a chocolate shake, using Tera'sWhey again, almond milk, bananas,…

It depends upon the face...and the hair type. :D I like either.

Like some of the posters in this thread, when I eat pasta, I am hungry again too soon after eating it.

Haven't decided yet, but it will likely be some sort of salad out of my garden. The lettuce is bountiful right now and I have lots of goodies to add to it. :)
-
For me, option number 2 would work best, since pasta and other grain-based carbs don't work best for me and my needs. :D I think I'd have to add some greens to the mix though.

Exactly! :)

I'd say the person on your FL that gave the uninvited critique on your food choices for the day was being pretty presumptuous, to tell you what you should or should not be eating. Did you ask for an opinion? I keep my diary open too, but I don't expect anybody to come along and act like they know better than me, what I…

Thank you! I'm signed up for the course. :)

It works very well for me. My life activities fluctuate too much, so I just set my level to "Sedentary" and if I'm doing a lot of extra activities, such as intensive gardening, housecleaning, walking a lot for my job, etc...I add some of that to my diary as exercise. I custom set my macro nutrient goal levels, as I was not…

I am close to my goal weight and plan to continue logging everything after I've reached it. My primary reason for this is that it keeps me on track for ensuring I am getting enough of the macro and micro nutrients I need. It is also helpful to track my daily and weekly calories intake, of course. I think the visual…

I have 17 pounds to go, but plan to keep lifting and my other activities, with lowering body fat and increasing muscle as my goals. I've lost 43 pounds and continue to lose about a pound every 5 days or so. I have been weighing in at 142 pounds for the last couple of days, with a BF% of 28.8 and lean body mass of 34.2. I…

This is what I do. I regularly buy many more bananas than I can eat before they are overly ripe. Then when they are really nice and almost to the point of overly ripe, I peel them and freeze them in freezer bags. They are great in my shakes and smoothies and would still be good thawed to be used in breads and other baked…

My sister does these. She's amazing!

"Very deep! You should send that in to the Reader's Digest. They've got a page for people like you." :P

Maybe, except the lyrics are "Kumbaya, my Lord, Kumbaya..." LOL So it is not likely a song that fits with many of the contributors to this thread. :D
