Sounds good! I've never tried diet pills, but I can vouch for the old fashioned approach. It 100% works.

I don't track sugar and instead track fiber (and sodium). Since I'm already tracking my carbs and don't have any medical reason to watch my sugar intake, I find that tracking sugar as well is just redundant. As the above poster mentioned, you really just want to aim for a balanced diet. There's no harm in eating…

I'm a vegetarian for personal reasons and have been for 4.5 years. I enjoy it. BUT I also eat a lot of food, even while losing weight. I've never heard of the 7 Day Water Diet, but anything that severely restricts caloric intake or food groups sounds like a bad idea to me. The goal is sustainability. Even if you crash diet…

This. Actually I just never trust anyone trying to sell me anything.

I see no reason why you can't have a social life and be healthy at the same time, if you want to. As others have said, if you simply have less in common with your friends these days, or if they have a bad attitude about the choices you've made recently, that's one thing. But if it really is just the beer and pizza holding…

I've never done low carb or been in ketosis, but I'm inclined to believe that if you're eating at a calorie deficit, you should have no problem losing weight.

It does take a little bit of time and effort to enter foods and recipes into MFP, but once they're in there, you can use them over and over again. Logging my food has worked out great for me because I can eat the way I plan on eating for the rest of my life, and I can see what a proper portion size of my favorite foods…

And give that a read!

Hello! Have you tried eating what you like in moderation while sticking to your calorie goal? For overall health and wellness, it is important to make sure your body's nutritional needs are being met. But there's no need to do a special diet, severely restrict your macros, or eat 100% "healthy" all the time. If you want…

x3 Not cool.

Here's what I posted in your other thread: "It won't affect your long-term progress. Just keep going. smile However, I do think it's important that you understand why you binged. Do you enjoy the food you eat throughout the day? Are you satisfied with your calorie intake and your food choices? Sometimes people end up…

My diary is open, and you're welcome to have a look. I try to hit my macros, but I also eat "unhealthy" food pretty much every day.

There is no wagon. Life happens, and some days are better than others. But you can't fail if you don't give up.

I understand having a sense of pride about food that you've taken the time to prepare from scratch. My husband and I have always liked to cook, and I run a small cake business out of my house, so I know how you feel. Making quality, from-scratch food items is very important to me, and I gained weight because I love food -…

So... Once you reach your goal weight, are you hoping to keep that weight off? If you are, and if you want to have a healthy body when you get there, you'll have to put in the time and effort it takes to develop a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. Eating 1250 calories a day and exercising for 5+ hours at a time is not…

I think the most you can really do is set a good example. People don't change unless they want to change and are mentally prepared to make it happen, but sometimes seeing other people make positive life changes can have a ripple effect. If I were in your situation, developing a relationship with someone I cared about, I…

Hello! It looks like you've only been logging consistently for a few days, so it may just be that you need more time. Additionally, if you've added a lot of exercise to your normal routine, you may be retaining water, which can hide any actual loss on the scale. As far as your intake goes, how do you measure your portion…

I have never used any sort of weight loss supplement. I've read the labels of plenty of OTC supplement bottles, and they all said something like "use along with a reduced calorie diet and exercise program", which lead me to believe that the active ingredient was me!

Plenty of people have already done the math for you. But just to reiterate, if you drink 5-6 light beer a day, every day, you're consuming around 600 calories a day in beer alone. That's like adding an extra meal to your day. Anything that has calories can affect your weight if you're consuming it blindly and in excess.…

Omg. I'm almost a mermaid.... Yay!

Yup. You can do all the exercises you want to build the strength and endurance of your core muscles, but unless you have a low body fat percentage, you won't see your abs. In order to lower your body fat percentage and lose weight, you have to be in a calorie deficit.
-
I don't think there's a standardized definition for "fat". Maybe you're thinking of the BMI (body mass index) scale, which classifies people as underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese based on their height and weight. You can google "BMI calculator" to find out your BMI. Keep in mind that BMI does not take into…

This. If you prefer to eat organic or low carb or whatever, that's cool. You should eat in a way that you enjoy. But if your goal is weight loss, you just need to be in a calorie deficit. However you maintain that deficit is personal preference. I haven't done any particular diet or way of eating. I just eat the foods I…

I'm the person who often goes to work with a protein bar, pringles, and a string cheese for lunch. Why? A few reasons. First, I'm lazy. I don't feel like carrying an extra sack full of dishes that I have to wash and take back home with me, and don't really want to prepare anything fancy to take to work. Second, my protein…
-
If you're specifically looking for something to use as a meal replacement, you have to be very careful when choosing a product. Most protein supplements are not adequate meal replacements because they are not nutritionally balanced and don't contain the macro and micro nutrients that your body needs. They are only meant to…

A multivitamin and the occasional protein powder/bar/shake as a supplement to hit my protein goal. That's it. No weight loss supplements or diet pills.

I've only used My Fitness Pal to track my calories. If you're using the website version of MFP, you can also download a free MFP app for your phone or other mobile device.
