I don't like to see fog out my bedroom window when I wake up at night. I was pretty sick when I was a little kid and watched Salem's Lot on TV at night while I was home alone. It left me with this. :) I don't freak out or anything, but I get a weird shiver _every_ time.

The meat is washed to prevent contamination that can occur during processing. Processing at the scale needed to feed 300 Million people is not necessarily as careful as processing a single animal for your family. This helps keep the safety at the levels required. The antibiotics is getting a bit off topic, but when I was a…

DANA9G76P < 4 uses left on that one. They have some tasty stuff in there.

You forgot, "I know you are but what am I?" :)

Most carcasses are washed during processing - it's a safety thing. Super scary "Ammonia Hydroxide" is just ammonia in water. We probably need chemistry to be mandatory in high school and these "shocking" revelations would get a lot less press.

I prefer steak - but if you want, go to a butcher shop and they can grind prime rib into burger for you if that is what you want and are willing to pay.

I was thinking an anti-crossfit thread...

I'm lazier than Raul. I mix my vanilla protein with my orange psyllium fiber. One scoop of protein, 2 tsp of fiber into a water bottle - shake well. Actually, firmly put the cap back on and THEN shake well.

You are not crazy. As far as I know. :-) But you seem to be worried about things that you don't need to worry about yet. Worry about first things first.

I got my $5 worth. When I win ( ) I'll be taking the payments. I want to be stupid in yearly doses and not all at once.

Lots of people say lots of silly things. I started running last February at 282 lbs. I never had any problems when I wasn't doing silly things (like doubling from a 5k to a 10k one run "to see what it is like", etc). Start slow - work up. c25k is a good program, repeat weeks as needed.

Awesome! I can do anything but abuse cauliflower or cook fish in the house!

I used to tip them by letting them keep all the bits they cut off... In retrospect, this was a bad idea. -Stumpy.

...run 1000 miles.

I agree. On the other hand - if they pull it off - America will be on a diet! Good season for that. :)

Well, welcome anyway. I'm kind of going the other way - here in a few months I'll probably switch over to 5:2 for maintenance.

Do you need "motivation"? Or do you need to overcome inertia? I go get on my treadmill and hit the start button. So far I haven't flown off the back of it. :drinker:

I backed it on indigogo. I'm expecting two of them to arrive in mid-January. But, not holding my breath quite yet - I've had other similar deals take months longer than expected (and this one has been long delayed already too). You can watch updates here: http://updates.amiigo.co/

Were you talking about your "snatch"? Were these guys alive in the 70's? I might snicker a bit if someone mentioned "working on their snatch"...

I think my wife tracks hers in Endomondo as "fitness walking" and she seems to get reasonable calorie readings (between walking and running). Otherwise, maybe call the first couple weeks walking and then switch over to running for the rest. And yeah - not like it matters that much in the whole scheme of things. :)

Welcome! And ask away! There are actually numerous people around here on the JUDDD - I suspect the simplicity of it keeps us from having too many posts going at any one time.

I'm pretty sure that they used stones.

For lower back, I like back extensions (Roman chair). For upper back, I like one-arm rows with dumbbells.

Welcome to MFP. Yes, using machines is still considered lifting. Although, you can often get a better workout from compound barbell and dumbbell workouts (especially additional core strength - that would support your firm belly goal). > if using the machines are the same workout as to using barbells with weights? Not…

I don't think I've ever heard anyone complain about a place that is closed on Sunday (although the only one I can think of offhand is "Hobby Lobby"). I do know that many of us don't like it when our _government_, at whatever level, tells us that businesses cannot be open on Sundays. I think there is an important difference…

I can't imagine that too many people are "forced" to work on Thanksgiving night - those that are are probably well-compensated salaried employees. When I used to work hourly - it was never a problem to find people who wanted to work for time and a half - there was usually a lottery or it was used by management as a reward.…

I'm not going to claim "healthy" but my 2 favorite ways to cook chicken breast are put them into a glass pan and: 1. Cover them in Sriracha and bake them or 2. Cover them in Buffalo sauce (Frank's Red Hot or Tabasco Buffalo) and bake them. Super simple and awesome - the thick layer of sauce keeps them moist and adds lots…

I really could not care less. I also don't care if she dreams about being with someone else. Or fantasizes about someone else while we are ... erm ... being intimate. Maybe I've been married too long, but as long as she is not actively plotting my murder (or a surprise party) - I'm pretty happy. :)

Yeah, my wife said the same thing last January. This year has been the best "failure" ever. While having goals and having the discipline to follow through with them are surely two different things - no one accomplishes anything by refusing to set goals. And there's nothing wrong with goals that have a start date.
