When I make protein pancakes I use egg whites and protein powder, and occasionally a little almond milk. I think the coconut flour combined with the protein powder is maybe too much? I also mix my powder with almond milk and put it in my coffee. I'm not very creative lol.

Holy cow, so I measured a few things and I cannot believe what an actual serving size should look like! I was definitely eating 1.5 to 2x the actual serving size- what an eye opener! Thanks everyone! Maybe now I'll see a downward trend on the scale!

I'm back at crossfit after having spine surgery 1.5 years ago. I'll be 45 in May and I love it. My new place has lite classes also, which I really enjoy. I never thought I'd be able to get back to crossfit. I used to run quite a bit (I'm slow but used to go for miles). I'm hoping to lose enough to make the running bearable…

I think eggs are great. Hard boiled are easy and versatile. I also make egg muffins with pulled pork and they're yummy on their own or with (in) a salad. Just put in a dozen eggs (or 6 eggs, and six servings of whites if you'd prefer) plus chopped onions and peppers and the pulled pork (I use prepackaged) and bake in…

5'6" here. I guess I should rethink my goal of 155.... I had spine surgery and put on 25lbs over the past year and a half but prior I was crossfitting and running 15-20 miles per week, and when I look at pictures I looked amazing!! I don't think I appreciated it at the time LOL. I guess I'll reassess when I get there! Good…

Well done! I love insanity- you really are dripping by the end of the warm up! Nothing like the feeling you get after a hard workout. Much better than any buzz you can get in a bar, and the results of your hard work and good decisions will be lasting!!!

I agree that it's time to leave. Doesn't sound like you have strong ties there, and IMO it'd be nuts to pay the membership fee for one class per week. I agree with tarabole that you should do a drop in at the other prospective boxes (most of them will let you try a class for free) and then you can make the decision from…

Eggs are also my go-to. Egg muffins, hard boiled, egg drop soup. I had backyard chickens and there's nothing like fresh eggs. I have my bloodwork done annually and have had no ill effects. I guess it depends on your body...

I think you went too heavy too soon also. Squatting isn't as simple as it sounds. Were you doing back or front squats? Both require a level of mobility. I find front squats particularly challenging and typically can't move as much weight as the back squat. Front squats require lots of mobility particularly to get your…

I've been a member at 2 boxes and this hasn't happened. If the coaches see these gals just hanging about and it's distracting others, it could lead to disaster. If your focus is on them and not on the WOD, you could get hurt! I personally hate it when people are hanging out talking and being distracting because I got…

I've begun weighing and logging daily. That's probably why My tracker always says zero lost lol. But I like to see the trends, and I'm trying to desensitize myself from freaking when the scale goes up even when I'm "good". I typically look at my Monday morning weight to see whether I've lost for the week.

I feel your pain regarding junk in the house (I've got 3 kids and dh eats like one and is a rail). I gained a bunch after being sedentary and depressed after spine surgery and have about 20 to lose. My initial thought was to increase your protein intake and maybe set your calorie goal up 100 calories and see if you're…

I have to agree. The saying goes "you can't out-train a bad diet." Once per day at a challenging level should do you just fine in the gym.

Hey everyone! I noticed that family stressors and illnesses are really taking their toll on the group. Hang in there everyone! I ned to steel myself for the weekend, my mom's coming to visit and the last time I was with her I probably ate 24 million calories in less than 24 hours. lol. Sooo, I'm going to try to plan and…

Hello. I don't take this drug, but I just wanted to add my two cents regarding portion control because I'm in the same boat. I like VOLUME. I'm working on trying to read my body's cues, and trying to focus on whether I'm feeling full, but again, my progress in that department is very slow. The one thing I do that seems to…

Hi Everyone! I'm looking forward to the October challenge. I put on about 15 lbs being home with the kids this summer and need to knock it off-- and then get to my goal!! I started back in 2008 at 211. My lowest to date was 155 in 9/10 and I'm back up to 175 :( Didn't really do anything but eat this summer. SW: 175 Oct…

Hi there. I'm in a similar boat. I've resolved to take some baseline measurements tonight (I've not done so yet) because I'm definitely seeing a difference in my body and my clothing, but not so much from the scale these past two weeks (I'm down .2 --a mere two tenths of a pound- in two weeks). But now when I bend my arm,…

Hi. It sounds like you're no stranger to running. I'd check out runnersworld.com. There are lots of articles and training programs there. When I trained for a 1/2 I used the program they had a reader follow- she blogged as she was training and it was free. I'm currently using a free novice marathon training program from…

My first thought is to eat a bit later in the day before leaving work so you're not ravenous when you get home. Have lunch later at your desk, or take some protein powder or other snack (hard boiled egg, protein bar- I like the marathon bar 150 cals and 11g protein and like a candy bar:) an hour or so before your day ends-…

If you like mushy veggies, just cook them for a looong time. I made a veggie side dish last night using yellow onions, cubed eggplant (no skin) and fresh tomatoes- I just browned the onions in a pan, added about 1/2 cup of water for steam (didn't want to use oil) and then threw in the tomatoes and eggplant. It was nice and…

I looove the idea of the squash chips, but I know I don't want to "cook up" a snack late at night. I know this may sound wierd, but you're probably wanting something crunchy and salty. I usually slice up an apple and grind some sea salt on top. Golden delicious or gala work great because of the combo of salty and sweet.…

MMMM. I was just having the tomato love discussion with a friend at work. We're up to our eyeballs in snow here and the hothouse tomatoes I get in the store just don't hold a candle to those Jersey Fresh ones we have in summer. . .

Amazing- and very inspiring! Thanks for sharing!

Wow!! I watched your video and it was the perfect inspiration for me after a difficult day. . . Thank you for sharing your story!!

If you're asking that question, the answer is probably yes. It's better to take a day off than to risk injury and force yourself to be sidelined indefinitely. I know it's hard with the resolutions looming over our heads, but your body needs rest to heal in order to successfully take on the next challenge. Take it easy and…

Congrats!! And thanks for the warning about the wii fit. :) I haven't used mine yet. Maybe I'll continue at the gym a little while longer before getting on that balance board! best to you!

I agree with the once per week weigh ins. I personally hate the scale. For me, it's historically been a no win situation. If I've lost weight, in my head, I'm "cured" and then become lax with my diet. If I've gained, I become frustrated and go crazy with food. LOL. To be honest, I usually just stand in front of the mirror…

I personally like preportioned things for convenience and for re-training- it's incredible really how small a "normal" serving of pasta is. That said, if you have high blood pressure, the added sodium will probably do you more harm than good. If you're in good health and are looking to the prepackaged things to help keep…

There's a good forum on runnersworld.com about treadmills. I'd suggest looking on craigslist for a good used treadmill. The general consensus when I was inquiring is that it's better to invest in a high quality used mill than a new one of lesser quality. We have True treadmills in our fitness center at work and they're…
