  • Almost every morning I eat two eggs, 2oz canned white meat chicken breast, a little sharp cheddar and some salsa all scrambled together. It only has 225 calories and 25 grams of protein. I like being able to get a quarter of my protein in breakfast. It only takes about 2 minutes to cook it up.
  • I also work full time and am in graduate school. I have been getting up at 4am to workout for several years now. If I didn't do that I wouldn't have time. It was hard at first, but I am so used to it now. It gets my day started off great.
  • I started about 2 weeks ago. I am using the cycle from this site - http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm I am doing Insanity and had lost no weight during the first month eating even less than what the nutrition manual said I should. I put in that I was working out 5 days intense into this calculator and…
  • If you can feel your body losing inches, you're losing. When you're just starting an exercise program, stop weighing and measure progress by how you look and what your measurements are. Those things are much more important than scale number.
  • I am in my last week of the first month and I can barely make it all the way through two of the workouts and can still not make it all the way through one of them. It was the end of the second week before I could make it all the way through the warm up. It gets better every day. When you do the second fit test and see how…
  • If you go to the site http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm the values they give you are not net calories. You put in how much you exercise and the zig zag you are given are the number of calories you are supposed to eat. I am doing Insanity and I put in that I exercise 5/week intense and am going by what…

  • I have started mixing my protein powder in G2 gatorade and I feel better than when I was just having it with water. Gatorade also has a recovery drink that's pretty much the right ratio of carbs to protein. I know Gatorade isn't ideal, but it's a whole lot cheaper than Beachbody's recovery drink.
  • I usually just subtract 100/hr. I figure it gives me a good "buffer".
  • Wow. Why are you so upset about people asking questions. No one is saying it doesn't work. She was just asking if she should subtract out calories she would have burned anyway. I'm not sure about you, but I don't think people ask questions on this board to be treated like they are idiots. This would have been better kept…
  • I do this exactly. If I work out for an hour and burn for example 500 calories, I subtract out what I would have burned during that hour if I had not worked out. I only want to eat back calories for what I burn above and beyond my normal calorie burn. Mine is pretty close to 1cal/minute so that's what I subtract.
  • I love Sara Lee 45 cal whole wheat bread. It's very soft and tastes great and only 45 cal/slice. It also has 5grams of protein and 5grams of fiber per 2 slices.

  • From looking at your diary, I would say that you need to eat more food. If you are logging everything, there was only one day in the past week that you even ate 1000 calories. That's probably one reason for the stall.
  • I'm not sure what you BMR is, but for a BMR of 1400, 358 calories would have been burned just lying around during that same time. You have to subtract out what you would have burned anyway when you count calories as "exercise". If your BMR was 1400cal/day or close to it, that would only have been 120 calories extra burned.…
  • I'll bet if you force yourself to workout for about one or two weeks, it will again become a habit and your eating will clean up as a result. Don't wait until you WANT to do it. Just make yourself do it.

  • I have a heart rate monitor. I have checked MFP just to see and it seems like circuit training comes the closest to the calories I burn during Insanity. It all depends on how hard you push yourself though.

  • Wow, that is terrific. I can't believe you were able to do that and get a Master's degree at the same time. Congratulations!
  • When I feel like that at night I have found that brushing my teeth helps a lot. First of all, I think "I hate to get these clean teeth dirty again" and also nothing really tastes good right after brushing your teeth. It sounds silly, but it has really helped me with nighttime snacking.
  • Yes. Lauren Brooks is amazing. She has a ton of you tube videos showing you proper form. With kettlebells you really have to be sure you have good form or you'll hurt yourself. Please don't even look at Jillian Michaels swinging a kettlebell unless it's to see what NOT to do.
  • I was answering her specific question about missing two workouts this weekend. I seriously doubt that she would have built so much muscle this weekend that it would make any difference at all in her metabolic rate.
  • Weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise. You'll be fine. Body's need rest anyway. If you have been eating back exercise calories it may be a little hard because you'll have less calories to eat.
  • I have also heard that bodyweight single leg squats are a good change if you're getting bulky thighs. I could never do those well because I have one knee that always hurts.
  • That is hilarious
  • 15 pounds in 14 weeks is exactly what you should have lost. This is a healthy weight loss.
  • I was worried about my quads getting so big and a trainer at the gym recommended that I decrease weight/increase reps on squats and to try doing reverse lunges instead of forward lunges. This puts more emphasis on hamstring/glute and not quad. Both of these have helped me.
  • I have only done three workouts and I want to look away from the TV every time there is a close up of her. The facial expressions kill me.
  • I thought I was only eating about 1600 calories/day until I got a food scale. It turned out I was closer to 2000. Once I started weighing EVERYTHING (in grams when possible) I started losing. It's so easy to underestimate intake and overestimate calories burned.
  • I got super feet from a running shoe store. I had to take the original inserts out and condition my body for the new inserts. I used the new ones for four hours the first day, six the second day, eight the third day and then I could leave them in. An orthopedic doc at the hospital where I work said it's hard on your body…
  • MFP's protein allowance is way too low. I aim for 100g protein/day as a minimum. If you reset your percentages, you're allowance shown will increase. I have mine set at 40% carbs, 40% protein and 30% fat.
