  • You can add me if you'd like, I've been running for about 5 years now 1/2 and full marathons mostly. I'm laid up for the next 4-6 weeks though but will still be on here daily living on the road through others.
  • Great half!! Good luck on the training and that marathon.
  • I follow a 18 week program, run the marathon and then basically right back at it in preparation for the next one. So yes it's about 9 months. Also I start to increase mileage right after the December festive season (about 4 weeks) prior to starting the program.
  • I agree Scott, I'm figuring Sundays long will still be in that range (more in the 2 range than 21/2 though) To confirm, I haven't quit on the fulls, too many goals to achieve and destination runs in my future yet. This is what it is....a break from what has been the norm. Oh, and Meb's still rockin' it!
  • This far into your training I personally would stay with the program. There's other trail runs to be had.
  • Yup same as Carson.
  • An absolutely amazing 7 days!! Two marathons in a week is a wild accomplishment. Congrats.
  • You could try http://events.mec.ca and http://runningroom.ca. MEC hosts 5,10 &15K runs in most of the province, nothing flashy but usually well organized.
  • 2014 was a great year, looks like about 350 more miles this year than 2013. PR's in both the full & 1/2 marathons. For 2015 looking to increase my yearly total miles again. As of now I have 2 fulls and 3 - 1/2's planned. Hoping to crack the 4 hr mark @ the Manitoba Marathon in June and aiming for a sub 1:50 in the half.…
  • I'd read an article (I think it was on Runner's World site) that recommend changing up your breathing pattern so that your not always breathing in when your landing on the same foot. Haven't had an issue with it myself but you might want to check it out. Don't let it beat you though, keep at it.
  • I have a pair of light Brooks wind/rain resistant pants that I wear till it gets down to about 10'F. Lower than that I wear a pair of Nike thermal tights with the Brooks over top (just can't bring myself to wear the tights by themselves)
  • Awesome! Congratulations!
  • Was going to work the other morning at about 7 a.m. (it's a highway drive) thought I saw a deer trotting towards me, it's glowing eyes a bouncing.......Nope it's a fellow runner with knuckle lights. No reflective gear and in the dark on a highway with a 2 foot shoulder. Also in the heaviest traffic of the day. I run all…
  • Oct. 5, 2014 Twin Cities Marathon 4:24:41 about 10 minutes slower than my best that happened in July but the way training was this summer I'm pretty happy with the results. Best run marathon I've been at (only 4 so far) well organized, great expo, great volunteers, awesome course/spectators.

  • Only started running at 53 (now 57) so I don't have any experience with change after 50. But I will say it will become a lot easier when the 40 hour plus work week disappears, it will allow more time for recovery and miles.
  • I get about 400 miles out of a pair. I am what you could class as a heavier runner so I can see where some faster breakdown of the cushioning would occur. Tread by the 400 mark starts show some considerable wear also. I use in Asics and Saucony.
  • First off congrats on your first 20. Good news though, like Dave said it will get to the point where it feels better......not sure I'd ever say it gets easy as you'll start to push yourself even more. The biggest thing I'd suggest is the long run be reserved for you day off, I can't even imagine going into work after…
  • I think you'd be better off dropping your incline to 2-3% and increase your speed slightly. This would allow you to not have to hold on. You'd see better results from this than trying to fight the steep incline.
  • Did the 3 mile MS Walk &then a 14 mile run. Drank a beer and ate a popsicle....a good day it is.
  • I run and use a Garmin. Currently using a 620 but have had the 610 and 405cx, all were excellent units. I use it for tracking pace, lap pace, mileage, cadence, and the list goes on. They are pricey though (there are more inexpensive models that have many of the same features). I guess it depends on what you're using it for…
  • I personally don't enjoy late runs (sometimes I feel like I'm dragging a tire behind me) near as much as early morning but due to life (work, etc.) my weekly runs are normally done in the evening. Weekends are a different animal though, I get out early (mind you I don't mean sunrise) and I do feel energized.
  • Congratulations on the PR! Great run. Sounds like you had fun while doing too it which makes it even better.
  • Tech shirts as long as they're not a billboard I keep and use. As far as hanging onto them as a memento, no. Finisher medals are what I like, also hang onto my bibs.
  • The only way I see jogging leading to an early death would be that the car that just missed me on the highway the other day had better aim.
  • I agree that you trainers may be too small. Generally your running shoes s/b 1/2 size larger than what you normally wear. Best to get fitted at a running store if you plan on continuing to hit the road. Having the proper shoes is soooo important.
  • Awesome results!! Congratulations! Keep up the good work, the rewards you will get from continuing on this journey you've started will be amazing. Again WTG and wishing you future successes.
  • Had that with one quite a few years ago, told I had a curvature of he spine. X-rays and a treatment plan was what he wanted, I passed on that. Haven't experienced anything like that with the one I go to now. I'll go when I'm seized up (sometimes back or neck or both) receive a treatment and am told if it continues to…
  • I'm not from your area (actually living up here in Canada) but i am a huge Bronco fan. So that sort of, in a way makes me ever so slightly from Denver. Okay that's a stretch, but you can add me anyways if you'd like. I'm on here most days and try to support the best I can. Runnings my main go to exercise.
