I always make beef stew in my crockpot...no better way to make it! One thing I always add is one can of V8 (or 2, whatever just covers what is in the pot) at the beginning. I do not use flour or boullion cubes at all but Bisto gravy powder close to the end. When mixed with the V8 and the juices from the beef/veggies it…

I'm going to try this recipe in the morning and since i don't have pumpkin in the cupboard, substitute apple sauce...might not work because of different consistency (although going to add a small amount of oats to absorb excess liquid), should be interesting!

opps meant to include that above quote in my reply. i seriously am a barefooter. always have been - i think many years of gymnastics when i was younger is part of the reason for my shoeless comfort but i find my joints are much worse when doing treadmill running if i wear foot gear. that said, i do have a great pair of…

totally agree, great tips! especially as i just finished a great cardio workout followed by tai-chi. Treadmill is usually 3 to 4 times a week. Had my dumbbells sitting on the top of it as i was doing fast walks with them during the time on the t.m...like the idea of jumping off and doing the strength...much more focused!…

| have a pedometer (also bought at Walmart some time ago). I find that it is not really an accurate way to count steps. It adds steps with any little movement so it really gives you more steps than you've walked. That said, anything that gives you a motivation to walk and get a general idea of how many steps you take in a…

lol...i try to not snack on anything when i watch tv anymore...one of the habits i'm trying to lose along with my weight...but...always a but...if we're going to snack now, hubby and i will airpop some popcorn...why? because for the calories it's the most food you can get that lasts for a while eating!

too funny. was just going to post on my home page that 'i'm soooo hungry'. it's 11:08 am and i'm eating half my lunch (maybe all of it!). i think it definitely may have to do with the fact that i've increased my exercise. this too shall pass...right???

I'm going to be 50 in September of this year and embarking on trying to lose 60 pounds in a health way by then (70 or 80 if all goes really well). I've found this site really great for keeping you honest about what you eat and 'reminding' you that exercise is important to changing one's lifestyle. I'd be happy if you added…

If you're overweight you should burn more than the average person. (takes more energy to move ourselves :-)

(forgot to mention the heart rate monitor)...definitely a good investment/motivator

I agree that your treadmill is probably more accurate - but if it doesn't take weight into account it may be giving you numbers based on an average person. Ours is fabulous because you can program your weight into it so it adjusts to take that into account. Either way though, if you're really concerned, maybe take an…
