I agree with those that have stated set mini goals. When I started in Jan 2013 I was 394 lbs and I immediately thought there is no way I am losing over 180 lbs to get to a good weigh(height 5'10 with a wide frame). But I knew I had to start and not let it go any further I did not want to be a member of the 400 club. Anyway…

I have fitbit flex. I like it, keeps me motivated to all or be more active each day to hit the minimum 10000 steps. I don't wear it while working out thus making me have to not rely on workouts to be active. I think it's a good tool for motivation. I stopped synching it with MFP because I did not want negative calories…

Well I was definitely obese. I started Jan 6 2013 and I'm really hoping to be at goal weight of 210 by end of July 2014. The 210 by generalize standards still have me overweight by 30 lbs due to my height . But I have the frame to carry more and I have no intention of being a stick guy. By reaching goal in July it will…

I started out around 400 and I believe I had an allotment from MFP of 2200 give or take. Since I was just starting AGAIN :( I just went by their count and they slowly reduced the calories. It seemed to work since you were not immediately put into starvation mode which 1200 calories would do. Now that Im closer to my goal…

I lost alot of my weight without one, so its defintely not something you HAVE to have. However, I did hit a plateau and when I got with my current trainer she pushed for me to get one and it has been a huge help. HRM are more reliable than the machines so you can better gauge how hard or easy you are taking it when working…

Last January I started at 394 and currently 267 with about 57 left to get to my goal of 210. Wish I was at stage where I wanted my stomach smaller, but I realize still be almost 60lbs away still a nice chunk to go. But congrats on kicking butt and getting there, for me it was just realization I had to change my life big…

That was awesome. Congrats on finishing. I have similar circumstances and gave signed up for a Tough Mudder a Dallas in October 2014. To me that will prove to myself and verify that I am healthy and fit. Again congrats on completing and thanks for a great play by play.

Great advice from everyone. I would only echo what they have said and slow and steady and no major changes all at once, I believe you set yourself up when you do that. If you can just decide to make one change a week or month you will see its not all that unbearable. Unfortunately you need to come to terms that it is a…
