  • Whats with this holier than thou attitude argument? It is straight up facts here... If Wayne Gretzky came up to you and said he was the best hockey player of the 90's - It would not be him being "holier than thou" it would be a fact. It is sad that people would rather be ignorant than wrong and learn something new. The…
  • Before anyone says anything - YES there was a 2002 study that linked some veggies to cancer. However search deeper & it was not the vegetables that were causing it - it was the use of nitrate fertilizers. It's not the actual fruit and vegetables, it's the mass produced problem with nitrate fertilizers. A problem that would…
  • You are greatly misinformed here, flat out wrong. Are you suggesting that herbivores all have two stomaches? Are you also suggesting that our teeth are designed to tear into meat? If so, I suggest you take a look at Baboons teeth. They are also 95% vegetarian - most of the other 5% is insects. How can you think that our…
  • I add a scoop of vega one or genuine health in pancakes, oatmeal, granola bars etc. Vanilla works best for me!
  • Either everyone got a msg from the moderators or everyone who is posting are just smart ;) good arguments on both sides, but it seems like we are all (well most of us) on the same page (more or less)! Nice to see an un-railed vegetarian/meat discussion
  • I think the theory is that vegetarians and vegans usually make better diet and health decisions overall. Like I said, meat is most likely not the main factor. It's the abundance of other crap and food like substances. However many on here seem to think vegetarian/vegan diets are not great - this is showing that they not…
  • ALL CANCERS : (per 100,000) INDIA VS. USA INDIA Men92.9 INDIA Women105.5 USA Men335.0 USA Women274.4 Source - WHO granted the research is 5 years old- however in that time American children have been given the title of "the first generation to possibly live shorter lives than their parents". Not a good title. DO you think…
  • read my last reply. As far as india and cancer rates go - India cancer rates are dramatically lower (percentage wise) than America. World Health Organization reported in 2008 that: per 100,000 population : (women in brackets) Lung cancer : India 10.9 (2.5) USA 49.5 (36.2) Kidney India 1.1 (0.7) USA 16.1 (12.8) Breast India…
  • I'm not a vegetarian either, but in short... Yes. Our diets appear wrong according so many studies, our biology, and straight up facts. Hard to swallow for some people I know, but the evidence is pretty overwhelming. Hard to find one strong study that actually disagrees with it. - However I hate to call you out as being…
  • I had a vegetarian friend who only ate fake meat, and processed frozen food. I know what you mean! lol. As far as living everywhere - Inuit inhabited areas (very cold with high fat/blubber diets) live 15 years less than the average Canadian (1991-2001 study). In this time, Canada's life expectancy has rose by 3 years, and…
  • Pandas do not eat much else - and because bamboo doesn't really have many nutrients - they need to consume huge quantities of it. Spending nearly 16 hours a day eating just bamboo... They have been known to eat some other plants and even occasionally small animals if needed. They will sometimes but rarely eat bananas,…
  • just because we don't understand something doesn't make it less true. Kinda like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxuZnMEcGVY
  • Not if it's coming from a bag of chips & a protein shake. Whats more important - the sources of these macros & the types and sources of the fats.
  • I have fat calipers - 7 point system very accurate. It gives me the same results as my handheld Omron monitor. However the handheld can be off if not properly hydrated. I usually drink 1.5 liters of water, wait 30 mins then test with that method. Bodpod is the most accurate as well as dexa scan
  • yep, which is why I don't like BMI at all. It's useless to many active people.
  • lemon squeezed in water has some pretty solid benefits! Support immune function: Lemons are high in antioxidant vitamin C, known for its supportive role in healthy immune function1,2 which may reduce the risk of respiratory infection3. Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) found in lemons demonstrates anti-inflammatory effects, and is…
  • hemp. A **** ton you can do with that plant. Huge protein source too
  • As I go on, my cheat days turn into cheat meals, and my cheat meals become more and more infrequent. Usually leave them for holidays or the occasional night out with friends.
  • I don't enjoy the plain stuff so I mash up a banana with it (when I do eat it) or some berries. I also have dried fruit I make, and add a bit in there. Just watch out, dried fruit is small, so you want to eat more, but it's packed with calories too if you're not careful.
  • ^ This. breakfast foods are full of nutrients much better than oats. Eggs & green shakes come to mind to start the day.
  • reasons people put weight back on - 1. they follow fad diets 2. they believed the "cleanse or detox" would actually work and keep it off. 3. no long term changes were made 4. no tracking of progress was done, so was unsure if it was actually working 5. addiction and will power issues. Those are the main ones I think... Jay
  • yep. I have 2 or 3 rest days a week. Body needs time to heal. However some weeks I have 5 rest days, and some I have none. All depends on how I feel. For weight loss (and muscle gain) diet is more important than the amount of workout anyway. If you eat much better you will need fewer rest days to heal
  • Agree with both of you! However I do think that there is something wrong with eating the meat that is produced now (factory farmed). If enough people do it (unless it's smoking weed) then it's no longer classified as wrong. The chemicals in the meat & carcinogens produced when cooked seem pretty wrong to me. Consuming…
  • Yes! It doesn't matter if you are vegan or eat meat, if you are dumb with your diet - it can be very unhealthy. I know a lot of people who act like they are vegetarian and buy all that processed junk. You're right! Although people who choose to go vegan (seriously) usually tend to remove processed junk from their diets…
  • Most people in general shouldn't get it :P <- opinion Humans are violent, mistreat animals & people alike. The most hateful creatures on earth by far! If you are going to eat meat, pay the extra money and get organic - that way there isn't any (or few as possible due to the environment) chemicals that are being heated up…
  • [/quote] It's not a healthier diet than any other diet out there. It actually can be less healthy if you are not properly prepared and knowledgable about it. Being vegan is much more than the diet. It's not using products with animal by products in them (most moisturizers for example), a lot of vitamins are out, cosmetics,…
  • She is doing a good job, but I actually don't think this ones a troll guys. I don't think you can fake stupid THAT well. It's been fun, but I am off to bed for real this time. I think it's best to ignore and she may go away! Night ;)
  • ^ thumbs up
  • I agree. Although you're on the right track! Diet is a good 70%+ of adding muscle!
