Smart lady! You bring up a good point. The problem with many is not the lack of calcium. It's the acidic diets that take calcium from the bones faster than you can replenish them. Of course it's better to eat clean and to not eat processed junk! Who in their right mind would disagree?

Yes. Expired milk, cheese, meat (unless frozen) no. Most of those things you store on a shelf can last years after expiration. At the very least - the chances of dying from it are very low! ;)

Remove processed crap from your diet & over time you'll start enjoying veggies again. They should make up a main source of your food (top two at least). I hated beans, but now I love them! There was. Coffee study done - if you switched your brand of coffee for seven days- you end up liking that brand more! Maybe that's why…

A good place to start is getting all that ice cream and brownies out of your diet. That one cup of "brownie" was 432 calories - Almost 1/3 of your daily calorie needs. Many people on here will tell you don't worry, and maybe you don't need to worry about hitting 32 g, but it's a good idea to keep it as low as you can.…

my friend gets cold sores, and I told him to try this. He said it works better than the medication he uses. I love it in shakes, cooking rice, in stir frys, etc. Benefits - (C&P) Health Benefits of Coconut Oil The health benefits of coconut oil include hair care, skin care, stress relief, maintaining cholesterol levels,…

ty. found it. ABC CNN 3 fitness books and a host of others reported it, along with his quotes. I would have thought the books & fact checking of such a star would not have lasted this long and gone through that many sources. My bad. The idea that cold water increased the caloric burn rate seemed plausible, but not to that…

I do a cheat meal every now and then. So You're saying that it's not really that simple calories in vs. calories out? I have to think about "dieters edema". You're also saying there is a "sweet spot" for your calories in that would produce the highest fat loss? I thought spiking my calorie intake weekly (just once a week)…

Also for the "lol'er" if it is just calories in vs. calories out. Average 200-210 lb. person burns about 3,953 during a marathon. When training, Michael Phelps (200 lb.) consumes over 12,000 calories per day. That would mean Phelps would have to run over 3 marathons, or swim laps for .... 20+ hours (according to the Mayo…

Suggestions for my comment then? Not saying it doesn't matter, I am saying that it's not always that simple.

if you could, check my diet. I have not lost weight in about 8 days. Drinking at least 2 liters of water a day. If it's as easy as calories in vs. calories out, then why do some hit plateaus? I've worked out - but cardio - & VERY little weights at the moment. maybe 15 mins a week in total
-
If it was ALL about calories, then it wouldn't matter where the calories came from. If anyone could test the theory - twins both eating 2000 calories a day - one of a well balanced diet, the other of 2000 calories straight from sugar - I bet the results would be very different. Yes it's an extreme case, but highlights the…

becoming aware of healthier choices? I have done extensive tests with professionals. I need 2600 calories a day to lose 1 lb. I am eating 1900 and only eating back 1/4 of my exercised calories. I've gained one inch in the chest, lost an inch in the legs, stomach, etc. If it were that simple as calories in/out I would not…

That was me too. However I altered my diet with the necessary changes (which happened to be more fat through nuts, seeds, etc). You can get your iron needs from plants too. It takes some getting used to- knowing the nutrients, but you'll never feel better. Nice to see you found a happy medium though. Took a lot of research…

I just did my tests and found that I have a TDEE of 3,186 (roughly) & BMR of 2,055. I've eaten as low as 1200 calories for the day, and I've eaten as high as 2000. If I eat 2200 calories a day, I should be losing 2 lb. per week. The last 10 days I have not lost anything. use the calories as a guideline. If you think it's…

googling what that is... lol

Yes C & P - but it's supporting evidence of the primate diet - & yes I found that there actually is ONE carnivore primate! Primates exploit a variety of food sources. It has been said that many characteristics of modern primates, including humans, derive from an early ancestor's practice of taking most of its food from the…

Should it hold more weight if you read it in a book as opposed to a published study? Are you seeing that people are disagreeing with things that I was not arguing? Other things that they can not refute, they just ignore like our intestines. At least the few I'm going back and forth with on here have something to present.
-
Want to compare Primates diets? To call something that eats 95% plant based and 5% meat (when a decent portion of that is insects) is a bit of a stretch to call it an omnivore. Chimpanzee diet - mostly herbivore - except it will eat honey, soil, insects, birds and their eggs, and small to medium-sized mammals, including…

Back to the topic - Vegetarians live longer healthier lives according to many reputable studies. Why do you think that is? I have already stated a number of times, I don't believe it is solely (or even the main reason) is because lack of meat. So what points are you arguing with me?

There are still places that you can get non-gmo grain, but as far as the vegetables, I agree some are different. Lettuce has had practically all of it's nutrients taken away - which is why many vegans choose adding dandelion leaves to their mix amongst other things. The argument of organic meat to organic veggies is the…

The India vs. USA cancer thing came from someone suggesting that india had a much higher rate than Americans, and many Indians are vegetarians. That was simply to invalidate the point. I agree it's hard to compare - especially not knowing how many vegetarians we were dealing with in the data on both sides.
-
I think you jumped ahead. In my original post here I said I didn't think removing meat was the solution, but adding more fruits and vegetables was when it came to increasing longevity. It's not like I am saying I believe in plants being the only food source for humans. Those are words that many of you have put into my…

You said that they got 100% of their protein from meat. If plants were a much larger part of their diet than once thought, then it isn't 100% of their protein from meat then is it? Proteins can come from vegetable matter too. Not everyone has a hobby like yours, so to insult for searching online for both supporting and…

The meat they eat now, and the meat humans ate 100 years ago isn't the same as the meat being consumed today. To say it refutes the entire post is a huge overstatement. Not to mention the fact remains - vegetables in their natural state have not been linked to cancer, when consuming red meat has been (maybe not the meat in…

Covered the inuit diet. they also have higher mortality rates (4 times more) and less than 25% reach the age of 60. Not a good diet to follow. It's not me promoting these "pseudoscience" ideas. It's leading researchers & scientists who study these bones who are coming up with these new findings that are basically telling…
-
did you read the last bit? there is evidence that they DID NOT eat meat for millions of years. Not a very silly argument. Don't disagree or discount something just because you don't understand it. Open your mind at least to the ideas.

I sent my "apology" msg to NewMe about 10 mins ago. hopefully thats outa the way

I think those were old outdated studies & information. There has been new evidence presented in the scientific journal Naturwissenschaften among others. So the idea that their diet was meat seems to be decreasing with each new piece of evidence and each passing year. The assertion is drawn from 50,000-year-old skeletal…

NewYou - see how others are posting something of substance? I'll leave you be now. No need to reply to someone who's not providing any useful info. Have a great night!

^ perfect. I will bow to that ;) However you look at it diet still plays a significant role in their mortality - be it with more booze
