Buy a whole chicken every week and boil it. You get a nice broth to use as a base for soups too. I then shred the meat and use it in sandwiches, salads, tacos, stews, stir-fry. Buy the "ugly vegetables" aka the ones that aren't pre-sliced, pre-bagged, still have dirt on them. That saves a lot.

I prefer running outside, even when it's in the 20s-30s F, but today we're right at zero. No.

I do have lots of fun healthy food buying experiences. I had a nice conversation about Greek vs. light yogurt, and will ask people all the time for product reviews if I see they have something I'd like to try in their cart. I love grocery shopping :)

My local and grocery store cashier had to ask me what my cucumber, kale, and zucchinis were so she could ring them in. Does that count?

Is it just a little bit small, or there's-no-way too small? When I really need to smush things into place, I wear one size too small compression shorts and hike them up past my waist, then layer a long spandex cami over that. That usually wins me a couple inches, but it's not super comfortable. I wish I were near you so I…

If she doesn't see a problem, she will refuse to address it until the day she dies, unfortunately. I know many people on here have gotten wake-up calls from tagged photos, rude comments, or a true look in the mirror. The key factor is that all these people decided for themselves enough is enough. Just continue to be a good…

I have often wondered this myself. I know a few people who have had their stomachs stapled and they eat next to nothing. Losing half the capacity of the stomach shouldn't make a difference in the amount of calories and nutrients a person needs for healthy survival. Maybe I just don't understand because this is science and…

When I'm running and starting to tire, I just keep repeating in my head "What would Jillian say right now?" Life in general- Forward is the best way to go.

A little bit. Since I started on here I have been mad at my boyfriend all the time. I'm not sure yet if this is because I just had a birth control shot and my hormones are still a bit whacked, if my body and mind are just adjusting to all this, or if I'm actually mad at my boyfriend all the time. I am very tired a lot, but…

Big hug to you! I know how frustrating it is, so here is a challenge. Do everything you are doing right now but ditch the scale until Feb 20. Right now I'm guessing your body is going through a huge change. It's saying "WTF, lost some weight, gotta figure out what's going on." Your freshly worked muscles are probably…

I bought a cute pair of Danskin full length yoga pants at wal-mart today. $11 and cling in the right places but flow in the right places too!. Wore them jogging earlier and they were great.

What part of Nova Scotia? I have a lot of long lost relatives in Lunenburg!

That was for the guy. You, 130.

I'll bite... 185?

I make smoothies with 75% veggies and 25% fruits. My bf is not a big veggie eater, but if I mince green pepper and onion in sauces he will eat it because it's a texture thing for him. I also like to drink Bolthouse Farms 100% carrot juice sometimes, usually 1 cup mixed with 1/2 c orange juice. A lot of people don't…

For some reason I have always been put off by fruit and dairy combos except flavored yogurts. Maybe I'm weird, but I feel like it makes me digest funny. I've heard almond milk is good, or I use canned pumpkin to get the consistency.

I LOVE IT!! Two of my favorites are: Green smoothie- 2c fresh greens, 1 kiwi with no skin, 1/2 c frozen pineapple, 1/3 cucumber, water as needed (usually 1-2c) Red smoothie- 2c fresh greens, 1/4 c canned pumpkin, 1/2 c carrot juice, 1/4 inch of ginger root, and 1c frozen mixed berries, water Just play around with…

I've got almost 40lbs to go! Add me!

Absolutely baby spinach! I eat it on sandwiches, in smoothies, in omelettes, on pizza... YUM! Hummus and veggie sticks are so good too.

Thank you for responding! Is "nutrient timing" what that's called? I now have a phrase to put in Google! Fat is one of the areas I'm trying to work on- almost 25 in fat-phobic America has taken it's toll on my mental perception of it :( As far as "breakfast" goes (I don't give meals names really because I eat all the…

Not about MIO (is that what they sell at gas stations by the register in those little triangle containers?), but have you tried a pitcher of water in your fridge with cucumber slices, lemon and lime slices, or some berries? I love water regularly, but make infused waters every now and then to shake things up.

Instead of shakes, have you thought about premaking homemade granola bars (oats, dark chocolate, sunflower seeds, etc) and a glass of milk? I drink whole milk (150 cals, 8g fat, 8g protein) occasionally in place of a post-workout snack because it's fast and has a lot of nutritional value.

I have to disagree, especially the younger you are. It may not be "healthy" per se, and while I recognize that the only person who truly benefits from all this is me and my future family if I get married and have kids, most of my motivation as a young 20-something comes from the outside. It's a motivation to give a big…

My boyfriend is just like this! The other day he told me "Do I look like I need to lose weight? Then don't put me on your diet." He used to be very overweight; I have no idea how he lost it. He doesn't talk about it with me and it was before I met him. I try to explain to him that it's about getting fruits and vegetables…

If you love your slow cooker, try making sauce with fresh tomatos. Just slice and dice them, throw them in the slow cooker with your preferred herbs and spices and let it bubble on low all day. About an hour before you eat (if you're a meat eater) brown some ground turkey in a skillet and stir it in. Yum!
