I would definitely recommend a food scale, especially in the beginning. Our eyes are often MUCH bigger than our stomachs, and a lot of people can't visualise what a normal serving size of different types of food is. I found it safest to weigh things. Now I've been doing it for a while I am much better at guestimating…

You are all kinds of awesome and you just made me snort tea on my keyboard :P

Bumping... fascinating thread. These are always so interesting, and I always find myself getting caught by these edits despite thinking that I am "aware" of them!

You can add me too if you want, I'm on every day :)
-
You look fantastic! Well done :)

Well done to you! You were gorgeous then and now, none of those immature and cruel idiots had the right to bully you and belittle you. Your worth is not diminished by the size of clothing you buy. I'm sorry you had to go through all that - and am impressed with the courage and sense of self-worth you obviously have within…

20 pounds is really a fantastic effort - well done :) I can relate - I've lost over 20 kg, and while I've had a few comments most people just don't say anything. I'm not sure why, but my thoughts are that they are perhaps concerned that bringing attention to it might embarrass me or something. I get it though, it can be…

This is really amazing, I am so happy for you. What a great feeling it will be to get your certification and to know how much you have changed your life. Well done - you are awesome :)

Oh yeah, and the Smooze Ice Fruit Blocks (Mango and Coconut) are really yummy - they're about 69 calories a block. You can find them in the aisle at Woolworths that has jelly crystals, custard powder and steamed puddings and all that. Less pertinent now that winter is almost here, but they are great to have in the freezer…

Hey! I'm from Australia too - welcome! Glad you found the full site :) Feel welcome to add me if you are looking for diary friends in your timezone! Kate

I am a Far north QLDer and later Brisbanite, who now hails from Canberra. It's not so bad, the place grows on you :P Any Aussies, feel free to add me - it's nice to have people as friends who are in the same country!

To add to what has already been added, some sweet things: Aussie Bodies lo-carb mini protein bars - about 95 cal for a pretty filling afternoon snack. I love the choc-cherry one. Sweet, but not too sweet. It saves me from foraging in the work social club chocolate fundraising box, and it helps with my protein count which I…

I have a fitbit one, and I can honestly say I wouldn't have lost half the weight I have if I hadn't bought it. It is very motivating (for me) and gets me up and exercising every day. Mostly because I like competing with myself! :P As for scales, I have a Tanita one. No real science behind why I bought it, it looked nice,…

I've had this kind of loss before too, when a professional who has helped you has become such an important figure in your life, and also become a friend. It is really sad to say goodbye to them, but it doesn't mean you have to lose that person forever. There are ways to keep in touch, if you both want to. And sometimes the…

Fantastic job, well done! You are looking really good :)

Thank you guys for replying! Let's all crack another tinny hey? :P /end Australian stereotypes! SleeplessinBerlin, we're heading to Wacken for the open-air metal festival and spending a bit of time in Heidelberg and Hamburg to see some friends. We went to Wacken last year and had an amazing time, so we just had to do it…

Oh yeah, and I am not at all concise, sorry!

I'm an Aussie too! Add me :) Originally from FNQ/Brisbane, but now based in Canberra. Don't hate me! :P

A small banana chopped up with some warm custard can be done for 150-200 cals, depending on the size of the banana and the type of custard. And it's delicious :)

I love a mug of hot water with lemon and cinnamon - but not because it is a "weight loss drink", which I highly doubt it truly is, but because I just plain love lemon and would eat it in everything if I could! If you think it sounds nice, give it a try - it might be a great way to make water even more more delicious :)

I guess it depends on what you are looking for and what kind of personality you have, ultimately. A Fitbit may very well be a glorified pedometer, but for me it is a great motivational tool. I love gadgets and I love numbers, and I love the graphs and stats my Fitbit can create about me and that alone keeps me going back…

Uh, it's possibly one of the best things ever! Toast with butter and vegemite (note, just a little bit!) is delicious and one of my favourite things to eat. But then, I am an Aussie and I grew up on this stuff!
-
That is really fantastic! Good job :)
-
You are looking amazing! Love the dress-sense too :) You look really happy, you can see it in your face. Fantastic work!
-
Thank you for this reminder - and well done on your accomplishment! That is certainly nothing to sneeze at! I struggle with staying motivated when the scale doesn't say what I want it to say. I get into the mind-set of "well, F it. I'm not going to do any more exercise since it obviously isn't doing anything!" But it's…

You look really great :) fantastic work!
-
I'm all for making time for exercise and all that, and I do that every day, but honestly - as a woman with a family, a full time career, and heavy volunteering responsibilities for an organisation I am affiliated with, I find it stressful (but ultimately a good thing, I'm not complaining about it!) to find an hour out of…

I think you've done an amazing job. Your body has changed so much, and you must have worked so hard! All of this while looking after two very young children and working towards a new career. That is a fantastic achievement, and something I hope you are really proud of :)
-
Australian! Fortunately that's not too confusing a term - unless somebody wants to tell me I'm actually from Austria, which sadly did happen to me on a trip to the US a few years back! ;)
-
You have done a wonderful job - I am sure you must be so incredibly proud of yourself. And you deserve to be nothing less than that! :)
