I'd been at this for about a month and only lost a couple pounds when my grandmother asked me if I was losing weight. She said she could see it on my face. She's pretty familiar with the fact that I wanted to lose some, and she keeps an eye on my cousin who's also trying, so she was probably extra-sensitive. No one else…

They're just a guideline, not the be-all end-all of how much you should weigh. For example, my family has really heavy bones, so my mother keeps her weight slightly higher than recommended. She would look like a skeleton if she went any lower!

My mother, father, and siblings pretty much all have these and love them. I'd like to get some myself when I can afford them!

Sometimes when you lose weight and wear the same clothes, you also lose definition because they're too big - so you'll feel like you look bigger because you'll look rounder to yourself. It's the way the clothes drape, not that you're bigger! :-D

I was at a restaurant recently, and instead of lemon or the citrus that's usual, they put a slice of cucumber in the glass. Didn't make much of a difference to me, but my husband loved it.

It's probably the fact that you're gaining so much muscle. Don't worry so much about the weight, be happy with the inches and improved health! The weight will start to come off more and more as you keep going.

My husband's chest muscles hurt off and on all the time - he's been to cardiologists and the emergency room and everything and they can't find anything wrong. So it seems like it's just weird cramps or something. Anyway, hang in there. Sometimes people have weird pains. There's this thing where the cartilage in your chest…

Babies communicating is definitely smile worthy! My 12yr old stepson who has autism every once in a while breaks through and tells his Dad "I love you too" when my husband is talking to him, it brings tears. My kitty hears my alarm, and then comes and walks on my face to see if it'll get me up. >.< I like to lay in bed a…

Yay! Those are all awesome, thanks for sharing! You just made me smile again. :flowerforyou:

If you get your girls and yourself a small snack when you get home of a fruit or some cheese then you'll be able to work on dinner more peacefully - don't forget, you'll all feel better overall when you're eating better! I love mozzarella string cheese or baby oranges for that kind of snack. It gets more and more difficult…

It's pretty easy to reset the names of the meals in MFP to match your schedule - I would pick a time like when you usually get up and count that as the start of a new 'day' so that you can be sure to eat properly. If it was me, and I switched my 'days' in the middle of when I was awake, I would end up eating all of the…

My husband loves this show -- I like some of them, but I don't understand why anyone would try to win some of those competitions ... ugh.

I've been mooching off other people's scales, 'cause I don't have one, and it bugs me when the weight fluctuates so much. I think I'm going to have to get one just so I can weight in regularly and have some consistency about the results! Hang in there and don't let it get you down. No matter what your starting weight is,…

I think part of it is also that my husband feels guilty because he's not doing it with me - he feels like he can't exercise or lose weight because of health problems, and he uses food as a feel-good solution to his problems, while knowing it doesn't work that way. He used to complain because I didn't have enough energy to…

My husband is like this - if I don't eat with him and what he's eating and at least what he would consider a 'full serving,' I'm in trouble. His servings sizes aren't realistic, either. He doesn't mean it badly - he's always concerned about me and wants me to eat well and stay healthy, he just has no experience with…

I love them boiled with a little bit of butter. If they're raw, cut off the stem ends and peel off the outer couple of leaves first. You can cut them in half to cook faster. I've had them baked before, and that works really well, too. I love brussel sprouts. :-)

Wow, that's fantastic!

Dude, I'd be mad. I mean, it's not a good idea to end the day angry, but I'd definitely be upset. Realize you're upset, that he was freaking insensitive; and then realize that it's not the end of the world. At least, not this once. :-D Hopefully he'll apologize!

Do you feel good at the weight you are now? Maybe you should take a break, move to a maintenance level for a little while. It sounds like you've done an absolutely fantastic job to lose 121 pounds, I don't think there's any point in beating yourself up while you're at 174. Take some time to smell the roses and destress!…

I think you should seek a second opinion - if you're starving your body, instead of helping it lose the weight, then you could be in trouble later on. Walking is great, though, keep it up!

If they're not turning out well, you can try toasting them with a smidge of butter or other fat before adding the water - put the fat / butter in a pan, melt it, and toast the steel cut oats until they're just golden brown. Then add your water to the already hot pan, I also like to add some dried fruit at this point, and…

It looks like you tend to go for broke with every option - give yourself reasonable goals, and you'll be able to stick to it longer! We're rooting for you. :-)

I don't have a hrm or anything, but I've been feeling like the calories in the game are pretty low for me. When I enter in a similar activity to MFP, it's at least double. So usually I split the difference. That's pretty unscientific, I know - but I'm working pretty hard on the Fitness Coach. Probably we need to find…

1 cup dry uncooked rice, it cooked with the soup.

I put it in the recipe maker, yes, and I submitted it to the database - unfortunately it looks like they don't have that recipe database set up to search yet, just to submit. So I posted it here for people to see. Chicken soup is a pretty simple, common dish for us to make, but I don't know if that's true for everyone, so…

My husbands homemade soup was the only thing that saved me yesterday - I was on track to go waaaaay over, with only 100 cals left for dinner! But I only ended up about 150 over because his soup is only 65 cals / cup. Yay! 2 chicken thighs, frozen with skin & bone 6 medium carrots 1 cup frozen corn 1 cup frozen peas 1 cup…
