Beets, carrots, spinach, kale, various berries (probably the best types of fruit). I would also suggest eating various nuts as well for your healthy fats and the protein. Some more fruits: apples (there are sooooooooooo many kinds), cherries, kiwi's and if you have an exotic market nearby, try some passion fruit and…

Different amino acid profiles. Whey protein has the most complete amino acid profile thus it's the most popular type of protein supplement. Also, with soy, soy is actually not healthy for the body unless the soy has been fermented (there are certain chemicals which essentially act like toxins in the body which are removed…

Excess fiber does this and also certain fruits and vegetables are naturally gassy (broccoli for instance, super gassy).

Calories are calories. Ideally you should keep the percentage of calories from fats to no more than 20% of total caloric intake. The other 80% you can split up however you want between carbs and proteins, it really don't matter. Weight loss at the end of the day doesn't change as long as you have a caloric deficit.

Chicken breast. 1/3 of the calories (roughly) are expended just to digest it.

I personally prefer their Pro Complex. I find it to have a better balance of aminos and having a second source of protein in there is great (the tin says 8 sources of protein, but Pro Complex really just contains whey and egg protein). For something with an even better aminos profile, I also take Monster Milk (which also…

Yup, what I said about sodium as I have stated, applies to people without sodium sensitivities. If sodium causes hypertension, that is considered a sodium sensitivity ;) Just like how people with caffeine sensitivities should not take in caffeine. However, please keep in mind that the health concerns with sodium is really…

Yeah, and in most of the rest of the world, you don't have droves of people believing in a bullpoop, overpriced, underdosed supplement like Shakeology or believe that "muscle confusion" is actually some new innovation (it's not, it's exercise 101, intensity needs to increase regular to make gains). In most other countries…

Diet pills with the expectation of them magically burning fat, that will be a huge disappointment for you. Diet pills with the expectation of them curbing a sweet tooth and excess snacking, that's a much more reasonable expectation. The active components in these things are mainly yohimbe and caffeine. Yohimbe is a hit or…

In all honesty, unless you have a sodium sensitivity issue, salt intake really isn't something to be concerned about as long as you remember to have a good daily intake of potassium (lots of broccoli, lots of bananas, etc.). If you were lacking in potassium, that's basically the same as taking in too much salt.

Just to add to the poking of loafs of bread, I also slap watermelons as the ones that produces a louder sound tend to be juicier and tastier :)
-
Definitely read the label, but I've found that the denser breads tend to keep me full longer. You'll also find, from experience, unless the supermarket only carries stale bread, the denser loafs also tend to be the cleaner breads they carry. The softer breads tends to be higher in carbs. I mean, the next time you go to the…

Purely from a healthy cholesterol intake POV, fish oils actually do = the benefits of fish (it is after all, literally oil extracted from fish as opposed to being a nutrient that is synthetically formulated). However, you really do need to take in at least 800mg of it daily for it to have any real effect on the body. Now,…

Unless your diabetic, you should be less concerned about the amount of sugar your taking in and look more at the carb intake.
-
Depends. If you are not on a low carb diet, good ole white bread is fine. If you are on low carb and want something that is filling for a long time, a dense (just poke at the loaf) whole grain bread is excellent and very high in fiber.
-
That's a lot of bacon to be eating to fill 3000 calories :P A relatively good sized strip is only around 100 calories.

The girl has a point there.

Doesn't mean that one should use alcohol like scotch as a source of nutrition. Those were some dark days in Europe :P
-
I would take fish oil regardless. At least 800mg's. Actually lowered my cholesterol levels noticeable (who would have thought, taking in cholesterol to lower your cholesterol).
-
Alcohol can count as both hydration and even nutrition believe it or not. In Europe, malts were one used as a source of nutrition thus they eventually started having a malt tax as the ingredients required to make the malt was scarce (basically grains).

All this shakeology blah blah blah aside. The idea that supplements rarely works is something easily debunked. Protein supplementation post-workout does indeed work. You can literally feel it the next day and even an hour after you down it post-workout. How so? Well, you will feel considerably less sore, that's one thing.…

Great post, particularly about digestion. A lot of people don't understand that the net calories after digestion could actually be much lower and in some foods, net you a negative caloric intake. I mean I believe with chicken, 1/3 of the calories is expended on just fully digesting a chicken breast. Then there's the people…

This was what made me a super tubby all through elementary school. :P As for processed sugars and non-processed, end of the day doesn't really matter, they all turn into the same amount of calories. It just so happens that sodas and what not prefer to use the more readily available form of sugar (corn syrup) but that's…

I don't mind eating entrails. Entrails are actually some of the best parts of the animal. I also eat animal brains, liver, chicken hearts, sweatbreads, intestines, stomach lining, tripe, etc. Still, bottom line is, none of these health benefits you are claiming can really be seen as being connected specifically to…

Yet I've achieved the same without Shakeology, have a resting hr of 67/68, and I eat McD's 3-4 times a week. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. By the way, my cholesterol levels were never bad, but they were significantly lowered after a few months of popping fish oil. So, what's so magical about Shakeology again?!?
-
Or just take a quality multi-vitamin with your protein shake in the morning and a piece of fruit ;)
-
1) How is the vitamin c comment silly? It's proven to be of little use for recovery and proven to be of no effect on the common cold. 2) Sugar is needed to spike your insulin, but you don't need ANYWHERE near 26g of it. Syntha 6 only has 2g of sugar and that product works remarkably well. 3) The creatine was clearly put in…
-
Yeah, shakeology just combines them into a nutritional profile that ends up being pretty badly underdosed for these tried and trued nutrients to make a dent on ones health. I think one of the very few things that is nicely dosed in the product is fiber. That's about it.
-
I still just want the guy to answer why P90x recovery product has such a bad nutritional profile and to answer what the heck so much vitamin c is doing in there and why there's an entire bullet point on the label pointing out that the product contains creatine but there's only .5g in the product even though even if you're…

So essentially, you're completely unable to answer my very very very simple yes or no question and now have resorted to pointing us at life coaching type directions? So basically, you're telling us to just blindly put faith into the product. REGARDLESS OF THAT, again, back to the P90x Recovery drink product. The proven…
