50 isn't a reason to not start running. I have a book about people's first times doing Ironman and there is a big section on people who started running and doing triathlons after the age of 50. I say: take it easy in the beginning to ease into it (just like anyone else not used to running) and enjoy!

It's ok to eat big at the end of the day if that's what works for you. Most people are better off eating during the day as well because if they don't, they are so hungry at the end of the day that they tend to over eat. So long as you stay in your caloric allowance for the day, it doesn't matter when you eat. For myself, I…

Try out the program the way it was set up and see how your body reacts before making changes to it. There is a reason it was set up the way that it was. Like the other posters said, 'heavy' is objective. Start where you can and if you stick with the program, you'll be using heavier weights in no time.

6 - and I am not surprised by the list at all!

DO NOT wear swim goggle!!! They suction your eyes when you take them off and might disturb the flaps!!

I did Ironman Canada. It was pretty awesome. :)

Your goal is quite low and you're probably hungry because you're not eating enough... Your body needs more calories, especially when its trying to fight off a cold.

There's no guarantee that your kids will be willing or able to take care of you.

Choosing to NOT have kids does not make you selfish. And that thing about "good thing your parents chose to have you, blah, blah, blah" is about one of the dumbest things I have ever read. That's like something you think of when you're tripping on dope: "Maaaan, if my dad hadn't knocked up my mom, I wouldn't even be here,…

I'm sorry that your family is a bunch of unsupportive d-bags... Since you can only change yourself and can't force other to change, you may need to accept that those people might never come around to your way of thinking but it may be possible to inspire one of them through your actions. If you do get stuck at another…

I'm only in Stage one so far but I'm doing my workouts at home. I already had nesting dumbbells (can be adjusted to go from 5 to 45 lbs) so that's what I'm using. The book has modifications to some of the workouts to accomodate working out at home. Go for it!!

It helps your muscles to hold more water so that they look better. When you stop taking it, you'll lose the water and that look. Who recommended it? One of the bros at the gym?

If you open your diary, people may be able to give you some advice.

It seems that some of the energy expenditure calculations on here can be really high. Try using a HRM to get a more accurate count next time.

Low weight/high reps can be just another form of cardio. Swimming is a bit like that (water resistance is the low weight and each stroke of the arm is a rep). If you do high weight/low reps, you can get a great workout done in less time! Just make sure to use correct form and enjoy!

My husband is very happy that I'm part of this group. I tend to get rather mean and snarly when hungry.

What's the distance you will be swimming? How far can you do the front crawl right now?

Maybe they figure she's way out of their league and so, instead of risking rejection, they don't even make attempt to 'go for it'.

Try to keep your feet dry to help prevent blisters.

That's awesome! Be careful though... setting PRs can become seriously addictive! ;)

Ya, the second 'person' isn't adult sized! lol

I am freezerburn.

I record it as 12s or 20s as well.

ROLF! Nice 'theory'! I'm 5'10", I love being tall and I don't wear heels. Just because I don't wear heels doesn't mean I don't feel confident... geeez... I think high heels are lame.

^^THIS!! EFF the scale number if your pants start getting looser!

Ditto. I enjoy my beer and just don't drink the whole case unless it fits into my caloric allowance for the day.

I bet Arnold wishes he had known this secret in his youth...
