  • In for Beans, Rice, and Fruit Salad!!! Oh wait, wrong thread...
  • I've found if I deny myself something I want it more. I'll do good for a few days or a few weeks and then bam, I binge. Best way for me to avoid this is to not deny myself anything. If I want ice cream, I have ice cream. I eat only 1 serving instead of the whole pint or 1/2 gallon or whatever I bought.
  • Perhaps this will help. When I did Insanity last year I lost 1 pound in the first month, 2 pounds during recovery week and 2 pounds the first week of month 2. What that doesn't tell you is I lost approximately 12 inches overall during the first month. Best advice I can give you is throw your scale away until you are done…
  • The only thing you are missing is patience. It is VERY COMMOM for people to gain scale weight in the first month of Insanity. It's different from what you are used to doing, your body is adjusting.
  • You can do this!!! Slow down, you might not think it possible but I assure you it is. As you progress through the program you will realize just how much slower you can go. When I did C25K last year I ran slower than I walked, sounds odd I know, but true. Not I run a little fast, a little longer, a little further and…
  • I did Insanity last year. I decided since I am in pretty decent cardio shape I should probably do more with resistance training so I went with P90x. I was going to start on the 6th but Strep Throat had different ideas for me. So I am starting tonight! Anyone here, WHO IS NOT A BEACHBODY COACH, please feel free to add me.…
  • Craigslist, EBay, want ads, garage sales, etc. Your best bet is to look for an older model road bicycle. A steel lugged frame, almost all of them were made this way in the 70s and 80s. You will be getting a durable frame you can set up more than 1 way. The only thing you won't be able to do it modify it into a MTB. It can…
  • I would suggest looking online to see if you can find you Brooks Glycerine 9s again. It's pretty easy to find "old" models of shoes pretty cheep and new. Since you already know what size you wear that wouldn't be an issue. I used to swear by Saucony, only shoes I would buy. Now I have switched over to Asics. For me they…
  • people run at different speeds. There is no set number across the board. Run because you want to, because you love it or like it, not to beat a time. I would set my goal to run the whole 5K before I started worrying about how fast I do it. I ran a 10k with a 14 minute mile. Didn't care because I ran the whole thing. Slow…
  • I smoked my last cig on April 28th 2013. Spent a week with an eCig before I realize I was still doing basically the same thing. Used the patch for about 1 month before I realized In order for me to quit, I had to quit everything. I smoke from the age of 11 to 38 and I probably quit 1000 times. Sadly you will only quit when…
  • Ever cut the sleeves off you tee-shirts? Save them. They make excellent head bands, dew rags and soak up sweat pretty good as well.
  • My goal for 2014 is to run at least 1 race of any distance every month. I am shooting for a half in September and I have already signed up for a Century Ride in June. My January race is on the 18th and it's looking to be pretty cold.
  • Like the other poster said running is largely mental. I allowed myself 3 attempts before I repeated the week. Unlike "normal" people I signed up for a 10k instead of a 5k. Although I ran the full 10k, I DO NOT advise this approach. I was SO sore I couldn't walk for a week and run for probably 2 weeks. Keep plugging away.…
  • Best advice I can give you is always remember this.... NO ONE can take your finish line away!!! Just because someone got there first doesn't mean it disappears, it's there for you and you alone!
  • A - Your doctor needs to look into things before he suggests them. South beach Diet is a LOW CARB diet. B - Are you weighing and measuring ALL of your food? C - Are you eating back exercise calories? If you are, how are you getting your calories burned?
  • Look at it like this, you are really only doing 3 extra workouts. Sunday is your rest day so do the normal Th, F Sa workouts and then pretend you took the whole week off. Start the week over on Monday. I got sick when I did Insanity and missed 3 days, this was my approach.
  • Start back, just repeat the week. If you take the whole week off you are going to run the risk of not starting back at all.
  • Here's good place to start... http://www.runnersworld.com/shoeadvisor And I guess my original response was too simple. I wasn't suggesting to buy your shoes at a running store, I certainly don't. BUT what I was saying they can TELL you more specifically what you need to look for in your running shoes better than people who…
  • Go to a running store. They will help you WAY more than anyone here can. Since we can't actually see you run.
  • Slow down. Reevaluate your definition of running. It doesn't have to be under a 12 minute mile to be considered running. It's different for every person, body shape, height, weight, etc. More distance = less speed more speed = less distance I like many others started with the C25K app and felt like I wasn't a runner.…
  • Like ANY OTHER work out programs they work as much as you do. If you go all out to the point of sheer exhaustion, then you will have great results. On the other hand if you half-*kitten* it, you will get half-*kitten* results.
  • You have to admit though things aren't made the way they were 10 years ago, 15 years, 20 years, etc. Items are being made cheaper and cheaper so they can be sold in Big Box Stores as they become more popular to Mom and Pop type establishments. I think it is great your Costco bicycle has lasted 12 years but I don't think…
  • Report me I don't care!! Just make sure the woman you send to write me the ticket is bigger than her.
  • Agreed!!! Way to scrawney!
  • I would totally break the law in front of her!
  • I think he came here looking for moral support, not medical opinions. Secondly, I didn't see anyone giving him medical advice other than ASK YOU DOCTOR BEFORE you do X.
  • You are going to get more protein from lean meat. No need to attempt to eat that many eggs!
  • You can get through this. You WILL get through this. Work with your doctor, find your limits as far as cardio work, get a heart rate monitor so you don't go over where the doctor wants you to be and start working on your cardiovascular system. Yours is a case where cardio is needed. Bringing your weight down is going to…
  • LMAO!!! That's not likely the case here.
