I find drinking it in smaller portions helps. I try to think of the bottle as six portions - roughly 80-90 cals for red wine. Get rid of the huge glasses and use the smallest ones you can find. The smaller the glasses, the larger the glass of wine seems! I have cut down from a much higher level to one or two glasses of…

Thank you Mokey for your response. I was hoping to count steps just to make sure I was doing enough, or rather, just more than I am doing now! I'm quite competitive by nature and I know if I had a step counter, I would try and improve upon the total each day! I take your point re: calories though. I don't think I…

I definitely, know that feeling! ^^^^ :( I rarely eat anything sweet and am not bothered by sweets, cakes or puddings. I also love all my veggies, fruit and all manner of good food. My problem is that I just eat too much of the good stuff!! My particular weaknesses include : pasta, freshly baked bread, butter, nuts and…

Plan, plan and plan some more. Then there are no excuses then that you ate badly as you had nothing in. And if you want a beer (I'm with you there!), have one! :drinker: Just try not to have the whole crate

BUMP - for future inspiration....

Absolutely! I eat tonnes! I always try to make sure I have 4 or 5 portions of fruit and vegetables every day, plus salad. I aim for oily fish as often as possible and a variety of grains, starches, dairy and protein - all homecooked. Its not always a perfect diet but I try for a varied and interesting food. If I want my…

I'm a nay. But each to their own. It'd be boring if we were all the same!

We have exactly the same in our office - people bring in sweets, biscuits, cakes, treats, donoughts, ice-creams (in the summer!) everyday to celebrate birthdays, work anniversaries, babies being born, babies just conceived :) seriously! Or even if the table of treats is just empty! I rarely stop by but its really hard as…

Freezer bags of different sizes with the push-together seals are great. Take up much less room than solid plastic or tuppleware boxes. You just need a permanent marker so you can write the date and the contents on the outside of each bag. To defrost in a rush you just but the bags in a pan of water and warm gently. Takes 5…

We're a slightly bigger family but I guess the logic is the same. I plan my meals to have fresh stuff at the beginning of the week and more storecupboard type dinners by the end. So things like salads and stir-frys happen on Mondays and Tuesdays (I hate veg when they start to look sad!). I go for dinners that have more…

Wow! I've never had such a response to a post before. Thank you all so much for your tips and tricks and motivational words. I'm inspired that this is the year I WILL change! Good luck to everyone on their weightloss challenges. I look forward to catching up with you all to see how you are doing.

I don't actually own scales! :embarassed: I think I was burying my head in the sand! My only experience with them was at weightloss clubs and I felt so despondent when it didn't go down even when I tried really hard during the week. But onwards and upwards. I might buy some this year and as you say, its easy to keep on…
