  • I did W4D1 yesterday, and it kicked my butt. I started off really feeling great and surprised myself with a couple of fast splits -- I was at 3 miles at the half-way point in the app! A few minutes into the third interval, I just started to fall apart. I kept slowing down and it kept getting hotter. (I was an idiot and…

  • Awesome! Congrats!
  • My understanding is that it is good etiquette to acknowledge other runners/dog walkers/etc., but recognize that some people might be focused elsewhere and not notice. I've had several times when I've tried to smile at someone as I went by, only to end up making a stupid grimacing face instead. I figure I'd only compound…
  • Congrats on your wonderful success!
  • Yes! To everything! (especially the thumb holes... I'm already in a male dominated field where I literally sometimes have to teach women how to pee in the woods, so I sometimes take that part for granted. Never take the thumb shirts for granted!)
  • I use a Belkin armband for my iPhone 4 and have a separate armband for my elderly iPod nano (which I really haven't used since I got the iPhone, since I like using apps like Endomondo and Zen Labs 10K trainer). The armband the the iPhone has a stretchy fabric behind the phone and a flexible plastic front. I think you could…
  • I love this thread! Thank you all for the laughs!
  • Not at all! If that's the running speed you need to go in order to complete the interval, then it's the right speed. You will get faster with time, don't worry. Welcome to the runners club! :drinker:
  • I think that the people above me pretty well covered it. Great big hugs to you, and a huge high-five for recognizing that you need help with this. You deserve to be healthy.
  • I didn't particularly pay attention to my food, other than being too poor to eat at restaurants very often. I danced a lot (swing and ballroom clubs) and walked all over campus because that was the only way to get anywhere at my school. I definitely drank, but I wasn't a hard partier. I think I was about 5'4.5" and 115 lbs…
  • You can add some tomato paste to recipes to pump up the potassium quickly. This website has some great info on potassium contents of foods: http://potassiumrichfoods.com/potassium-rich-foods-list/
  • Not all trainers are created equal. This thread, active right now, gives a great example of a misguided trainer: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1072326-went-from-eating-700-calories-a-day-to Hang in there! :flowerforyou:
  • Congrats!!!! Great job breaking through your fears.
  • Have you been weighing your food to make sure that you're not underestimating? What are you using to calculate your exercise burns?
  • Y'all have no idea how inspiring this thread is. Thank you so much for that, and a huge congratulations to all of you who have been rocking it out there. I've got a couple of weeks left in my 10K training and I'm really looking forward to my first race at that distance. As another person who seriously doubted that she…
  • Wow, I'm glad you're ok! I've been able to walk my way out of most dog confrontations so far, but I was bit on the arm last week by a dog that was on leash and restrained but broke through its owners grasp. Have you called animal control or the cops to report the incident? The dog you are dealing with sounds like a real…
  • I'm so glad to hear that you're back! No shame at all in driving to your run to avoid those stairs. (6 flights??!?!) Welcome back! :drinker:
  • Great job! Passing people just feels so... GOOD! Way to do it on an uphill!
  • Brilliant! How awesome would it be if the "1 weird trick" weight-loss links redirected there!
  • So much for that 7 mi block! Great job busting through that wall! I don't have any good ideas about getting past the vegetation distortion on the GPS without an expensive upgrade. The vegetation issue makes sense to me, since I haven't had any real problems with Endomondo out here in the high desert. (I will change my…
  • Hahahah! I'm totally guilt of this one. I wasn't even fishing, but I was teaching a 3 hour lab that required me to wander ever-so-slowly around a room or stand at the front and explain the day's activities. Since I'm mostly at a desk job, I didn't build those calories into my normal activity levels. The closest options I…
  • Congratulations!!! Your post made me grin. As another who never thought of herself as a runner: kudos and welcome to the club!!!
  • That's really cool! How was your experience working with Coach's Eye? Does the personal analysis cost more? I am so jealous of your foot strike -- I'm still fighting my heel strike.
  • You know, I really wish that you were trolling because it hurts my heart to hear that your husband treats you like that. The situation sounds toxic. Please insist on couple counseling to see if there is anything salvageable in your relationship or if it is time to move on. I know that we're only getting limited glimpses…
  • Congratulations, and thank you for making me laugh! I will have your ninja-chow and those fantastic kicks in my head during my race next weekend!
  • Congratulations!!!! Great job not letting yourself get psyched out. I was absolutely shocked and thrilled when I passed that mark -- I think that was the first time that it felt fully real to me that I was going to complete C25K. You've got this!
  • Congratulations!
  • Congrats, and welcome to the addiction! :flowerforyou:

  • Yes to both questions. If you're set at sedentary, give yourself exercise credit for when you are on your feet like that. Use the week-long view to average out your daily over/unders on your calorie goal. I'm jealous of your Cedar Point trip! I hope it was great!
  • Way to go, Vardaeml!!! When I started C25K for the *mumble* 3rd? 4th? *mumble* time, I wasn't convinced that I even wanted to finish the program -- I could happily keep running week 3 over and over again for a cardio workout. Then pride and curiosity kicked in and I buckled down to the challenge. Next, I stayed at the 5K…
