I like to burn at least 100 calories a day on exercise. It just makes me feel so good to get my heart pumping and do anything. But, most often, it's 250-350. I try to do something more intense a couple days a week with light runs in between. Then, I throw a speed/timed, or distance run in on a day when I'm feeling more…

You want to eat all your calories for the day, then eat back your exercise calories so that you are fueling your workouts. When you build muscle, your muscle burns more calories for you, which is very cool. So you want to work out, build muscle, and fuel that muscle!

Good advice. This is why I stay away from restaurant foods as much as possible unless they are listed. Too easy for me to go over.

Nike Training Club App for women is a great free app and they incorporate all kinds of circuit training moves you can do with little eqpmt in your home (or substitute what you do have). Also, Challenge Groups like the NoNonsense 30 Day Challenge here on MFP has great core moves in those sets.

It's hard to go from one eating system to another. You put a lot of emotional energy, time, playing, and fortitude into where you are...and now, you will need to make some slow adjustments to move foward without feeling like you are sabotaging former efforts. The goal is several small "mini-meals" through the day, which…

TobyMac is an all time to-to of mine.

Thank you. You read my mind. And, I've seen some runners who look beast. All depends on whether or not they cross train, and what their training goals are. I've yet to see one I thought looked "emaciated".

Thanks for posting this. I love circuit training and these workouts look doable and fun. I'm checking it out! I love cross training/circuit training.

I'll have to cut fat and do circuit training to get there. Not a fan of gyms and don't have room for a barbell at the moment. There has to be more than one way to skin a cat.

Be sure and read the reviews on Amazon. There must have been a bad batch of the New Balance N4 with a chest straps out there. A lot of people get them and have trouble with them. I was a little skeptical after seeing how many people had issues with theirs. I wonder if they don't get resold on ebay...a lot of them seem to…

Just following along and starting to lift some, but I read this a lot. After I've been using to working out to earn extra calories, it's very hard for me to take a day off! I'm sure it comes with confidence in what you are doing. I'd also greatly miss the running and cardio! I try to keep it light and fun. I've been told…

Hmmm. Depends on the context. Here is another way to think about net versus gross. -Net Calories are what you are burning working out. -Gross calories are workout calories PLUS what you would have burned simply living during that time. *****Gym epmt and HR monitors unfortunately provide Gross, not Net burn! To get what you…

I like my own version of a Bacon Egg McMuffin. Takes about 2 minutes to prepare. English bagel (lowfat, wheat), put in toaster 4 T. liquid egg, cook in small teflon skillet Pop 1.5 Tyson Precooked bacon strips in microwave, 30 seconds. 1-2 T. Shredded skim cheese, sprinkle on top Assemble, wrap in paper towel, eat at…

High Interval Intensity training schedules for treadmill are all over the internet for you to pick one that looks doable for you and works for you, but essentially, warm up for 5 min, ease up to a "high" speed, hold it for 30-60 seconds (HR should shoot up pretty fast), rest for two minutes, repeat 4-5 times, as much as…

I'm planking! Right now, I'm doing running OR doing circuit training 2-3 days a week for some cross training (lot of pylo squats, pylo lunges, burpees), then P90X "Arms and Shoulders" 3 days a week. Sometimes, I throw in Nike Fitness Training Center (lots of planks and weighted lunges) free, geared toward women...download…

For reference, a 265 pound woman doing aerobics for 60 minutes tends to burn off 721-843 calories (gross). Cardio is great for burning fat. You might want to mix things up and do some high interval intensity training rather than straight running or eliptical, though. It's better at long term fat burning.

They were probably just wanting to try to help you double check because it seems very high. There is no concrete information on your profile to help eliminate that concern. Here's an example of a secondary site. http://www.prohealth.com/weightloss/tools/exercise/calculator1_2.cfm These are often as accurate as my heart…

Pure Protein Chocolate Deluxe, 50g size. None compares to the chocolate or texture, not even the chocolate chip. I get both and still have the chip ones a year later...trying to eat them. They all leave that dry protein after-taste, but they are moist, and a bottle of water does the trick.

I would also say that if you have not been used to walking briskly, you might start with a week of that before you try adding in the running. Also, remember that running doesn't have to be flat our sprints...we are talking about anything above a walk. Don't over-do. You have three days to build this week, and I think…

This seems like a balanced answer. I'm glad to hear it--I can do most of these without a barbell set. Thanks!

You look great. Good work. I have the same goal, so I'm glad you asked. All the BF calculators have me losing another nine pounds to get there, and I'm not really interested in that option as I'd have to replace all my pants. All the lifting people say to put on weight and eat more calories, and I'm not really…

Definition of Bully. And while you might be able to stomach it as an adult (though it hurt), think of what that does when they are doing it to their adolescent peers, and I'm sure they are. We wonder why kids get into trouble. They can just be so stinkin' mean. They are trying to knock someone else down so that they can…

On the phone app, you can have it look at your week's calorie intake. If I have something big coming up, or a night out, I try to run a deficit so that I can "afford" it, and I look at the rest of the week to see what I'll need available. It's like a budget really. My goal is to stay under that red line shown on the app…

This news story got me kick-started. http://www.pubsub.com/weight-loss-AHA-moment_CNN-dFoXk5Zkw90,lwJSGan6WZqE People like this are my heroes. The article just left me with no excuses somehow. And I committed that I could walk at least 15 minutes a day, no excuses. Now, I can run for 30, four months later. I can run a 5K…

^ This, was very helpful for me to understand the logic behind what I was doing. Helped me a lot.

Cardio is great for overall conditioning, heart, stamina, and getting a person moving. Don't discount it. But, if you want to get into body shaping, lifting your own body weight or some weights is indispensable. I personally want both. You just have to adjust your diet for each, and try to balance it so that you don't…

Also, it looks like belly fat is your biggest target area. According to most articles in Prevention magazines to try to work in one MUFA into every meal is a great idea. (Mono Unsaturated Fat)...I don't know what the "A" stands for. LOL Those would be: olive oil, acocados, nuts, seeds, small square of dark chocolate,…

You are correct, in that it is based on generalities and broad scale studies over individual cases. This is how the wisdom books like Proverbs are also written. But, they result, in general, in success. In general, the person who eats well and moves more will be thinner than a person who does not eat well and is sedentary.

I like this, too. And variations on it. Apple Cider Vinegar, and other flavored vinegars + olive oil, peppers, seasonsings I use my Pampered Chef Salad Dressing stir thingy and feel very fancy when I do it. LOL
