Any One Using Sandbags?
Gym access doesn't work for me. I only lift about 1-2 times a week and I use a 35 .lb load and do about 12 reps X 3 sets. I combine A and B, and leave out one of the squats sessions since it duplicates in both. This feels like a good upper body cross training workout for a runner. I've lost about 3.5" and no weight this…

CNN News Story Today
With that much excess weight and little activity, I'm sure she got away with her diet where most people shouldn't, but I see she's made adjustments and the rest of the story is just really inspiring. Worth the read. http://www.cnn.com/2013/05/10/health/borawski-weight-loss-irpt/index.html?hpt=hp_c4

Transition Phase
So, in the last month, I've moved from weight loss to more focused on lifting progressively heavier weights. I am not doing as much cardio, still running short, light runs (1-2 miles). By the scale and measurements, I've not made progress. By my pants...they are getting looser somehow. Feeling discouraged at the lack of…

Frame Size
I've been told I my life I was skinny, bony, and think framed. And I can do the 'ole, "loop fingers around your wrist, if they overlap, you are likely small framed", but when I saw the new methods of bone size, you also measure the distance between the bones on your elbow to at that element in, and I fall into "medium…

% Weight Loss Since New Year's
8.11% since 1/1/13. Beat biggest loser totals. Yay, me! I don't have a ton to lose, but I have to work a lot harder for it. Gained .5 inches of muscle in my quads, arms, and legs, lost 2" in my stomach area. SLOW GOING--I'll celebrate any good stat at all. Check your progress and report so we can all cheer for you, too:…

Interesting Calorie Counting Gagetry Article
I've been debating the whole "electronic" thing for the last month. If I'd spent as much time working out as I had reviewing this technology, I may be much further along. LOL The fact that I run some doesn't help...then it's not just heart rate and calories, but running, GPS, options, etc. It's mind numbing. I know DC…

C25K Cautionary Tale
Topic: Knee Pain Scenario: Worked up to a 5K using interval training, walk/run since Christmas. Took the prescribed pace. No pain at all. Trouble: When I got to the week of running 3 5Ks in a week, that week kills my knee every time. You'd think I'd connect the dots by the third time I've gone through Couch to 5K (or C25K…

Can You Modify A Recipe Without Losing the Old One?
I was wanting to create a different flavor smoothie and could modify my old recipe instead of starting over, but I don't want to lose my old one. Is this possible by just changing the name? Something tells me I'll lose the old one. : (

Shopping Without a List - A Good Thing
Shopping without a list can be disaster, but this time, it was a good thing! A lot of healthful products have hit the shelves since I last looked for them. And I even switched primary stores today to get some different foods on our shelves. Burn-out is no good with all the great foods out there to eat! I don't get hungry…

RDA Vitamins/Minerals %
RDAs are based in a 2000 cal diet. Most of the time this works, because any extra flushes from our systems anyway. But, I rarely eat a 2000 cal diet, am dieting on 1200 cals. Does this mean I new to adjust the RDAs for my diet? I'm thinking that I would be getting enough calcium if so, and WAY more sodium than I need.
