RDAs are based in a 2000 cal diet. Most of the time this works, because any extra flushes from our systems anyway. But, I rarely eat a 2000 cal diet, am dieting on 1200 cals. Does this mean I new to adjust the RDAs for my diet? I'm thinking that I would be getting enough calcium if so, and WAY more sodium than I need.

Most vitamin and mineral needs don't change when you reduce your calories. With less calories you need to be more efficient with your nutrition, getting it in with less calories. If you're exercising, you're sweating out MORE sodium than you would be as a sedentary person with higher calories.

    that makes sense to me.

i was concerned about getting enough calcium, etc., and my nutritionist recommended vitamins, but nobody needs umpteen percent of anything. too many vitamins = expensive urine. so i got some that didn't have 100% of anything, only about 50%, and of course i get nutrition from the food i eat.

yes, sodium is a concern. i think the average person needs 2300mg a day, but don't quote me. of course if you have blood pressure issues, that number might be different.

i think a nutritionist might be able to give you the best advice.
