Thank you all and congrats to everyone who's lost weight and those of you that are super close to your goal! The last time I got fit (man, those free weights tightened me right up!) I was following this plan and will likely follow it for my maintenance calories. - http://www.stumptuous.com/part-2-learning-the-basics - For…

I put in my weight and age and height and activity level (sedentary) and it gave me 1200. This past week was the first week I didn't eat my exercise calories back and I lost weight after a 2 week plateau. It may have been a fluke. I'm going by trial and error right now. But I don't get hungry or feel the least bit deprived…

I'm definitely doing strength training now. I just enjoy it.

When I first started counting calories I was astonished by how much I was eating, then astonished that I wasn't starving when I ate the actual serving size.

To prevent going back to your old weight CBT works for some - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

This would be to my 18 year old self: 1) Diets don't work, but you don't know any other way 2) The other way is calories in vs. calories out 3) Always know what you're eating 4) Keep up with the walking, try other types of exercise, too 5) Ignore your mother when she says lifting those 5lb weights will hurt your back 6)…

Last summer all I wanted to eat was Frosted Mini Wheats, so that's what I ate. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack. My husband works at Costco, so it was always a bargain. I have no idea why I became addicted to that cereal, that has never happened to me before. I mean, I love a heaping bowl of anything (especially…

For those of you who asked, 30 Day Shred is a Jillian Michaels workout video.

You guys should read this article. Some excerpts: Researchers enrolled 234 overweight or obese adults in the study. Participants were randomly assigned to one of three exercise training groups: resistance training (three days per week of weight lifting, three sets per day, 8-12 repetitions per set), aerobic training…

Thanks!

Congrats! You look really great. I have to ask since this question comes up so much - do you eat back your exercise calories? What's, on average, your daily calorie intake?

Check out the book Body Sculpting Bible for Men/Women. The book shows you the free weight way and the machine way for workouts. It's a great book!

I'm following this plan for how many calories to eat: For fat loss, you want to aim for a range of daily calories that is calculated based on your bodyweight (in pounds) as well as other factors. To lose fat: 8 to 12 times bodyweight To stay the same, neither losing nor gaining (also known as maintenance): 13 to 16 times…

That's just the way I ended up doing it. I wasn't following any diet plan. I was eating ice cream and burgers and regular meals and not concerned with my Macros. I was younger and had just gotten the simple equation of calories in vs. calories out, so that was my focus. I totally agree where you cut the calories is…

It's also called Calorie Staggering and I lost weight consistently doing it (plus exercise). I had a weekly plan of calories per day so I knew what I was shooting for each day. As long as it equaled my daily calories x 7 by the end of the week, I was a happy camper. On the days you would have to go under 1200, eat 1200…

^this I like to know exactly how many calories I have burned during a workout, so I use my Polar HRM. I don't know anything about the FitBit, but I do know I'd rather know how many calories I burned over how many steps I took. That's just my personal preference based on ignorance!

Denise Austin has some good 30 minute workouts. Sometimes it's an hour DVD with 30 minutes for beginners, then 30 minutes for advanced. She also has DVD's where you can select which workouts you want to do, which helps manage your time. There are also 10 minute workout videos that you can combine for a 30 minute workout.…

If you want to follow a specific diet I have heard the South Beach diet is the most well rounded, healthiest ways to go.

Weigh more than your protein. Weigh *everything*.
-
Pick up the book The Body Sculpting Bible for Women (they also have an express book where you combine moves). The first book shows you how to do the exercises with free weights as well as on machines in the gym.

You asked him, and he didn't. Who else lives close to him that she could have called? I'd be freaking out if my brakes were failing and probably not thinking straight about who I should or shouldn't call.

Each morning I would drop one or a couple (depending on the calories) chocolates into your purse for 4pm. Don't keep the bag there.

I could and I have (I use DVD's and YouTube), but I prefer not to. I'm somewhat uncoordinated at times and I feel embarrassed when I'm alone and mess up! lol The biggest reason I wouldn't want him watching is when it comes to moves I have to modify or can't do yet. I don't know if he's paying attention or not, but that…

This sounds like the surgery one of my friends had. She always eats protein first. Thanks for your answer.
