The "going away" dress I wore at my wedding. It is gorgeous. I only wore it that one time. I've held on to it for all these years (27 years!) because I love that dress so much. I should be abe to wear it again once I reach 175 lbs. That's only 75 lbs. away now.

Congratulations on your success -- and thank you for sharing your powerful and compelling story. Very inspiring.

You are doing an amazing job -- and you're a great MFP pal. So happy to have you as one of my friends. Congratulations on your success.

Your story is amazing. Thank you for sharing the many benefits you have enjoyed by becoming fitter -- and for talking about how you handled (and recovered from) your temporary loss of motivation. You should be very proud of your success. You look amazing: happy, fit, and healthy.

I think this has made a huge difference for me this time, too -- in terms of shedding the guilt and shame that was holding me back for decades (yes, decades). My entire attitude says, unapologetically, "Yes, I'm heavy right now, but I've already made significant progress toward being a stronger, fitter, healthier, and…

I switched to decaf a few years ago and discovered (to my amazement) that I didn't actually need the caffeine. I'm a naturally high energy person. Recently, I've started drinking it black and I discovered (again, to my amazement) that I don't mind the taste of black coffee if the coffee is great-tasting coffee to start…

This is one of the most brilliant -- and honest -- posts I have read since I joined MFP. Thank you.

Re-commit to your goals a couple of times each day. Each time I log in to record one of my meals or details about my exercise, I scan the success stories message board and read about the successes other MFP members are enjoying. This reminds me to reflect on what I hope to achieve and to consider what I have already…

A few months ago, I heard through the family grapevine that one of my cousins had been losing a ton of weight via a very low calorie diet programme. Then I received a Facebook message from her, offering to pass her fat clothes along to me. That was the final nudge I needed to do something about my weight. I didn't want to…

You have every right to be proud. Losing that amount of weight represents a heck of a lot of hard work. Yay, you!

Those photos are fantastic. What a great idea -- to treat yourself to professional photos to mark this amazing journey in your lives as a couple.

I'll share two: one from today and one from a few days ago: 1. I can now cover over 2 km of distance on my treadmill in 30 minutes. This is a huge victory for me. (I was totally inactive until recently.) 2. I am down three pant sizes in two months. I discovered this when my pants were (literally) dragging on the ground at…

What a motivating story. Congratulations on all your hard-earned success!

What an amazing post. Thank you.

Love this advice from you: "And last but now least this is not a race to see who loses the fastest this is a race to get healthy so you can see your kids grow old." Thanks for sharing that.

You sound like a very caring and supportive partner. If you think this has the potential to affect your wife's health significantly, your health significantly (in terms of your ability to stay on track in achieving your weight loss goals), or your relationship (by becoming a source of friction), it might not be a bad idea…

I have heard something similar from everyone I know who has managed to lose a significant amount of weight -- and to maintain that weight loss. The psychological piece is key. (Thanks for sharing this.)

That is a fantastic story. You should cut out your post and carry it in your wallet.
