  • Some of the Gu and others make me want to vomit. I like the Gatorade Chews, and I would pop one in every 1.5 to 2 miles. They are pretty small, but it was enough. Around mile 8 I felt light headed so I popped three in, and I was fine. I also ran with a small water bottle, but also took advantage of EVERY water station.…
  • Definitely doable. I started with the C25K and ran my first half marathon October 2014. I say "ran" but I run/walk. My knees aren't the greatest, so I'm realistic about that. There are all kinds of training plans that you can use. Like someone else said, focus on the 5K first, then the 10K, then the half. I started by…
  • You can do it! No matter how rough the first one feels, just keep going and that is the key. I started C25K around 2007 and I'm not sure I've ever fully finished it all the way through, I've jumped around after falling off the wagon, and jumped back on. BUT I always kept going. I would generally stick with one "session"…
  • I suppose I'll be changing my "regular" since I can't find the soup information for the Tomato Basil. I got the Sicilian Chicken soup because I was able to find information for that. It was still good and I was still able to enjoy myself with a cup of soup, a glass of wine and one slice of bread! Thanks for the tips -…
  • I just joined the site - glad to see there are other ministers here too :D
  • I LOVE skirts - so I wear spanx to avoid the problem - but I can't wait for the day that spanx are no longer necessary! Great job - keep up the hard work!
  • I've been talking about doing something different in my life for a long time - but when I realized 30 was right around the corner I decided it had to be NOW! I knew I couldn't hope to lose weight by 30 if I didn't do something now, otherwise it was going to have to be something drastic, which I did not want to do. It also…
  • King Cake! It's SO hard to watch what you eat in Southern Louisiana! Especially when King Cake (Mardi Gras) is around and crawfish season is coming up! God help me during crawfish season!!
  • I've noticed this too so I always enter the lowest calories burned number, whether its the MFP # or the gym/elliptical #. I have also noticed that my own HR (just from measuring on the elliptical) has not sky rocketed as much during my workouts now that I've been working out more - honestly this is frustrating! If I work…
  • I've been wondering this same thing, but the machines at the gym (elliptical) actually tell me I've burned far fewer calories than MFP does. I DO enter my weight and age into the elliptical and I also am CONSTANTLY letting it check my HR so I hope its SOMEWHAT accurate. I find that when I am logging my exercise here on MFP…
  • It might also be WHAT you're eating. I think you said you tried eating something right before you worked out, and you were still shakey, so you might try to research what would be BEST for your body right before or after a workout. I'm so sorry I don't really have concrete facts, but I do hear that bananas are a great food…
  • I can't say that I remember the day, but I know it was when my BMI said I was obese. I've always seen reports about how obese the USA is, how our children are obese and I just never considered myself obese. I knew I was overweight, and I was OK with that, but I never thought of myself as obese. I downloaded an app on my…
  • Whenever I'm sick I water down the G2 to help replenish my body with electrolytes. I've been doing this for so long now that "regular" gatorade - or anything not watered down actually tastes weird. Maybe you could mix your Gatorade, or G2 would be better, with water and help yourself get more of that water you need!
  • Love it :D Love the story - thanks for sharing!
  • OSU is 1-9 against the SEC now... so they have that :P (Coming from an SEC TIGER :D) Good luck with your weight loss journey - I love your quotes - you can do this!
  • An accountability partner that you can trust is the best way for me! I have two friends who have agreed to be accountability partners. When they ask me if I'm under my calorie goal for the day or if I've exercised enough times throughout the week I have to answer them honestly and if I answer them and I'm not on track then…
  • I'm aiming for my 30's as well! My goal is pretty ambitious - to drop 30% of my weight by the time I'm 30. That's 77 pounds, but still puts me "overweight" according to my ideal weight. However, it would be the thinnest/fittest I've been since High School - so I still think it's a good goal. Good luck - we CAN do this!
