I'm another one who finds the treadmill / cross trainer a bit dull and I never get a buzz from. I feel like I'm watching a 20min run just clock down and it takes forever.. Whereas my Muay Thai class is an hour and feels like it is over in minutes, has me dripping with sweat and I get the must go back feeling as well as a…

chocolate protein shakes - definitely help. Or decent quality chocolate protein bars. Other than that I try to have some high cocoa chocolate and a couple of squares (just had some!) keep you going.

first off - don't worry about those people. I know easier said than done. But it gets easier. For me I couldn't say exactly in terms of how much weight, but it was when the weight from my face seemed to come off. Once my jawline was more visible that is when people really started to comment. Then it was like an avalanche…

I try to track everything. Generally if I have to guestimate something I'll pick a higher value, but its only by tracking that I have got reasonably good at guestimating the numbers for other things. Also having a day where I weighed out 100g of multiple foods so that I could get an idea of what 100g looked like and could…

congrats - clothing NSVs are great for motivation!

you can do it. I found that starting with my nutrition first and losing a bit that way without hammering the gym to begin with made me more concious of what I eat. I now treat calories like credits that I earn! Also found that doing an exercise that I enjoy and that the time rattle by helps a lot.

he's a GEEEZER! awesome chef. The effing and jeffing might not be everyone's cup of tea but he gets the job done.

I use skimmed milk - and have started using skimmed milk and half water for double portions. Although the strawberry whey I get is pretty good and doesn't taste too bad with with water.
-
wow - how did you manage to calculate the amount of muscle lost? I'd really like to be able to check myself at somepoint.

Just thought I'd close this post out with a pic of the gym. Had a great time, walked miles all over Manhattan - just wish I'd taken trainers! Natalie the Muay Thai instructor was awesome the clubs website is here http://choksabaigym.com/ Just on the train home now and still a bit achy!

Woohoo ! Someone got back to me. Credit were its due - Natalie Fuz of Chok Sabai Gym in Manhattan said she'll let me go to her class on Saturday for free - as she normally lets first timers at the class have a free session before signing up anyhow! faith in humanity restored.

Try eating small portions of almonds or perhaps have some home made protein treats in. These can be low calorie and filling and in my case just tap my sweet tooth!
-
Agree. This isn't an issue about catering for someone this is an issue about how much notice one gets in my opinion.
-
cool thanks! I kinda thought my english accent might give me away when asking for a "free trial" - I've no objection to paying for a session but when I googled around everywhere seemed to be only interested in memberships. Even emailed a couple of muay thai places and got no response! I'll pack my skipping rope and hope…

I use one of those no-added-anything peanut butters. Its great but I have to keep it measured as its 500kcals per 100g ! so try to eat no more than 10g in a sitting!

I wondered why everyone thinks a few extra milligrams of salt will keep pounds of water ! Sounds like bs I mean 5 pounds of water, you would hear it sloshing around - sarcasm-over

Definitely looking a bit thin on the ground in the Manchester area - maybe we should ask about folk in Bolton or the Greater Manchester area + a few miles :)
