I can recommend Tom Kurtz Secrets of stretching. its a complete program designed to improve core strength and hip flexibility to the point that full splits is possible.

when did we assimilate food? have we suddenly become part of the borg?

Looks like you are doing great. I personally started to cut out the alcohol as I preferred to "spend my calories" on something else now!
-
Thanks to everyone for their support. If I can do it - anyone can!

^^ this works for me too - I only have it if I wake up and am absolutely starving. then a small serving of porridge gets me through!

I am actually quite surprised how much the weight loss affects my face. I think I've got one of those fat-blind-brains as I'm pretty sure when I've looked in the mirror for the last few years my brain has been telling me I look the same. However when I took those photos and then started to look at them on the phone it was…

how very kind, thanks!

Thanks for all the kind words! Realised I didn't really put a time frame down, its taken me about 4-5 months and that is mostly with tracking food and maintaining a calorie deficit rather than just hammering exercise. Although I do try to get some sort of exercise in at least once a week if I can. Tracking the food was…

could just be me, was looking through photos of when I was 30+lbs heavier and just seemed to be time when I was drinking a lot more. Just thought I'd see if anyone else had found the same.

Thought it was worth posting the abstract as this backs up what Sidesteel and others have said for a long time. Objective: Utilization of very-low-calorie diets (VLCD) for weight loss results in loss of lean body weight (LBW) and a decrease in resting metabolic rate (RMR). The addition of aerobic exercise does not prevent…

^^this! Can't understand the whole skinny jeans thing on men its nuts. having lost a bit of weight recently I needed to get some new jeans and in my local department store it was a freaking nightmare. Straight cut, skinny cut, boot cut, twisted cut, cropped cut, holy crap it was a nightmare. Tried on some straight cut and…

try to find restaurants / pubs that put the calories next to the food. If not I try to opt for something like fish (grilled salmon) on rice as this is relatively low in calories (assuming they don't give you a massive amounts!).

Great advice, thanks guys. there are some power lifting competitors at this gym. Its not one of those pay a subscription and don't go places, its a fairly small low budget place with lots of lifters and so on. There is a guy there called "Brian Goddard" who seems to fit the bill. He's an ex Mr Universe (apparently) - have…

one of the great things about using MFP actively is you'll start to realise that the labels people assign to food like "junk" or "healthy" are only relevant to those concerned. Eat a big mac, manage your calories and macros or eat a 10 apples, You'll find the 10 apples have more calories. I've been losing weight steadily…

I made the switch to skimmed milk, but then also supplement with whey protein shakes. I make my own almond milk, sweetened with a bit of honey and really like it. Steep 1 cup of almonds overnight in water Take out the water put the softened almonds in a blender with 3 - 4 cups of fresh water Blend on full power and you'll…

if you have a smart phone, try to get the Cyclemeter app. its got a walking mode, and is quite a good way to help estimate the amount of calories you have consumed walking.
