  • I knew there was another side to this whole "childhood obesity epidemic" that the news media keeps whining about. So much for presenting unbiased information...
  • Awesome, awesome, awesome! Congrats, and thanks for sharing!!
  • It's helpful to read these things to remind myself I'm not crazy for having those same conversations with myself. (Unless you're crazy, too?) Thanks for sharing!
  • Who knows what their baggage is going to weigh the day they buy the ticket? (Not me!)
  • Exactly - learning these variations is helpful for me, along with training myself not to freak out. :)
  • I only really like chocolate mint flavored bars for some reason - it seems like peanut butter or other flavors have a weird gritty texture. For 20g protein, I use Clif Builders bars when I have 270 calories to spare, and LifeChoice bars when I only have 190 calories to spare.
  • Yay! I'm glad you're aware of the problem and are taking steps to do this in a healthy way now. Take advantage of the search bar in the forums - you can find a lot of great information from other users here as well. If you find you're having trouble reaching your new target, you might want to try planning your day ahead of…
  • Honesty is the first step, so it sounds like you might actually be ready to get on track. :) A good next step might be to log truthfully for a few days so you can actually see what you're doing and then go from there. I know I have the most success getting into something new when I take one super-small goal at a time -…
  • Like the others said, tomorrow is a new day and you'll get back on track, no problem. You don't have a whole lot to lose overall, so just be patient and treat your body right. Setting MFP to 1lb or even 0.5lb per week is a great way to go, and then the MFP setting is designed for you to eat back any exercise calories and…
  • I know this seems like disaster four days in, but don't let it derail your efforts! A lot of people have great success being on target six days a week and incorporating a "cheat day" into their schedule. You don't have to make this a regular thing, but my point is that one day over your calorie goal won't ruin any of your…
  • If you've just started it will likely take a few fays to adjust your intake down - don't worry about it, just get a little better each day. Also, if you set MFP to a "2 lbs per week" loss, they've calculated a 1000 calorie deficit for you each day, so going over by a few hundred calories still leaves you with a nice…
  • Only fattening if you're not accounting for those calories in your day. I've made some 500-600 calorie smoothies (with peanut butter, banana - the cals can add up quickly) so that ON TOP of normal calorie intake would be a problem. Otherwise, if you're meeting your calorie goal, you'll be fine.
  • This is where portion control comes in though. I've definitely eaten a fair number of entire pizzas to get where I am, but I remember family pizza night as a kid - the four of us were easily able to share one medium pizza. Two slices was satisfying, alone or with a side salad.
  • I blame the amount of effort required to "type" on phones/smartphones. Also, auto-correct may be a contributing factor. You could probably craft a conspiracy theory out of that, but I'm too lazy.

  • I haven't heard of this in real life but remember a multitude of tv/movie characters with joking anecdotes about "fat camp" Obesity certainly isn't treated with the same level of seriousness since it isn't considered a "disorder"
  • I'm not anywhere near goal yet (congrats!!) but I've seen many people recommend setting your weekly weight loss goal smaller and smaller the closer you get to goal. So, for the last 10-15 lbs, setting mfp to 1lb per week or 0.5lb per week would be more appropriate.
  • I know there are certain foods that I won't stop eating until they're all gone, so I can't have them in my house. A whole month of being on track is a great accomplishment! Get back on track tomorrow - you can do this!!
  • Don't starve yourself the rest of the day - eat when you get hungry. Tomorrow is a new day. It seems like you're getting into trouble making choices on the spot - try planning out your meals and snacks for tomorrow before you go to bed tonight. You can do this.
  • I know it's easy to overlook accomplishments when you've still got a long way to your goal. You are doing awesome work!! I'm glad you're celebrating along the way - just keep at it! :flowerforyou:
  • The lowest I recall being from high school on is 195, so I chose 175 as my original goal, even though that's still overweight for my height. I guess at this point I still don't believe I'll actually get that far. But when I do, I can reevaluate and go from there! :)
  • *saving for inspiration later*
  • That's great! I'm glad you're taking steps to learn about coming up with a healthy plan that you can sustain. Do you have a reason for wanting to get healthier? Some people think of kids, grandkids, avoiding family history of illness, etc. Maybe having something to focus on as a reminder might help. Also, find some…
  • Fine - you're going to do whatever, but we'll see you back here after you don't get the results you wanted and then we'll be ready to help you after you learn that there's no such thing as "magic forks"
  • Because even though we never have and probably never will meet, what you choose to do with your eyeballs is totally my business. Also, you probably CAN live your life just fine after taking a fork to the eye, but why would you WANT to??
  • You can't expect me to be supportive of your unhealthy, dangerous plan. This website has the word "Fitness" in the title! Please speak with your doctor before making such drastic decisions.
  • Can't... look... away......... I feel like you could start a new hypnosis technique with that.
  • I'm assuming you grilled up everything at the same time for convenience - get into the habit of putting the extras away before you sit down for the meal. Refrigerate, in separate containers for easy portability when you're thinking of work lunches.
  • Taso42 - I love you so much right now!
