I've been told about padded shorts before but have found it really difficult to find anywhere that sells them (bearing in mind that I live in the uk and if you want anything in a size bigger than xl, you need to go to specialty shops and pay through the nose for it). Will keep looking for somewhere that sells them though.…

I use Strava for both walking and cycling. It gives you distance covered, time and calories. If you buy the correct HRM Chest strap, it can also record your heartrate. Oh, it records your route as well. Best of all, the app is free.

I weigh every Monday morning. I think weighing more often than that gives false readings and, if it's worse than you were expecting, it could have a negative impact on your focus for the rest of the week.

Thanks guys. I'm finding that I struggle with any impact exercises, I try to continue with them but the pain gets worse rather than better. At the moment I'm still going for my walks, as I really enjoy them but I'm having to suspend the sessions with my personal trainer until the pains start to calm down. Emohdeer - I'm…

Like everyone's saying, don't give up. Start afresh tomorrow. If you know breakfast caused the problem, try to plan ahead and that might avoid the problem. I have a tendency to snack a lot late at night (the fact that I'm a nit owl doesn't help) but you can't let one bad meal stop you from achieving your goals.

I can get it from a local store for £52. I'll get it as soon as I can.

That seems to be the general consensus. I think I'll be doing a bit of research to see what I can find within my budget (need to work that out as well!!!).

It doesn't let you input any of that. It shows the time, heart rate ande average bpm's. like I say, if I find that it works for me, I'm more than happy to go and invest in a good one that would let me input age, sex, heir, weir, etc.

I bout the Target HRS410. It was one of the cheapest decent ones that I could find that came with a chest strap. I didn't want to spen a lot until I knew if it was any use to me or not. Once I get used to using it, I will go out and spend the money on a good one.

To jzammetti, I bought a HRM yesterday but not 100% how to use it. I'm assuming that I use the average Bpm to work out calories burned.

Thanks very much Jonnythan.

Thanks. I actually managed it in 51 minutes, according to Strava.

That's pretty much what I thought. I'm 369lbs so I know I will burn a little bit extra just because of my weight but even those figures seem a bit on the high side.

If I can lose 5 stone by the time I go on holiday in October, I'm treating myself to a new tattoo.

A lot of gym machines display gross calories burned (the amount of calories used by the body just doing normal day to day things like breathing, etc as well as calories burned by exercising) whereas I think the calories shown by MFP are nett calories (calories burned purely by exercising). If anyone knows whether or not…
